Dane, Wisconsin

Dane is a town in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 968 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community of Lutheran Hill is located partially in the town.

The Magnesian escarpment is the most westerly of three prominent escarpments that run north-south in Wisconsin. All three escarpments are formed by the edges of layers of sedimentary rocks. The easternmost and most prominent escarpment is the Niagara Escarpment formed where younger and harder layers of dolomite overlay softer sedimentary rocks. The Black River Escarpment is capped by another layer of relatively harder rocks, overlay older softer rocks. The rocks of the Magnesian layer overlay rocks of the Cambrian Period, the oldest sedimentary rocks that contain fossils.

Springfield Corners is an unincorporated community located in the town of Springfield, Dane County, Wisconsin, United States, at the intersection of County Highway P and US Highway 12. The town hall for the Town of Springfield is located in the community, along with a park, several businesses, several neighborhoods, and a small business park.

The Dunroven House is a historic house at 7801 Dunroven Road northeast of the village of Dane, Wisconsin. The house was built in 1870 by Abram Asa Boyce, a farmer and politician who served in the Wisconsin State Legislature and chaired the Dane County Board of Supervisors. Boyce's original house, which he named Walnut Hill, was a two-story sandstone building. E. W. de Bower purchased the house in 1909 and expanded it into a Colonial Revival home that was much larger than others in the area. The house's design features a full portico on the front facade supported by four two-story Corinthian columns and hipped dormers projecting from the roof. de Bower, who lived in Chicago and hired locals to raise cattle on the property, named the new house Mont-Joy in honor of his wife.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 28, 1980.

Lodi ( LOH-dye) is a city in Columbia County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,189 at the 2020 census. Lodi is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Richard W. and Margaret Mills House is located in Lodi, Wisconsin, United States. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The Portage Street Historic District is a residential historic district encompassing a one-block section of Portage Street in Lodi, Wisconsin. The district includes seven houses, two carriage barns, and a church; nine of the ten buildings are considered contributing buildings to the district's historic character. The Gothic Revival style Universalist Church, built in 1873-74, is the oldest building in the district. The two oldest houses in the district are both vernacular homes with gable ell plans, a form featuring a front-facing gabled main block with a side wing. Four houses and both carriage barns have Queen Anne designs and were built in the 1890s and early 1900s, the peak of the style's popularity. Prominent Lodi architect Carl C. Menes designed three of the four Queen Anne houses. The latest house in the district, the 1922 Irvin G. Searles House, has a bungalow design.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 2, 2000. The Frank T. and Polly Lewis House within the district is listed independently on the National Register.
