Rotterdam is a town in Schenectady County, New York, United States. The population was 30,523 at the 2020 census.The town of Rotterdam is in the south-central part of the county. It was founded in 1661 by Dutch settlers, who named it after the city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, where many immigrants last touched European grounds. The town borders the city of Schenectady.

Mohonasen High School is a high school located in Rotterdam, New York, United States. Enrollment is around 1200 students in Grades 9 – 12. Like all other public schools in New York, the school's curriculum is based on the Board of Regents standards. Mohonasen High School is known throughout the Capital District for its award-winning and varied televised events schedule, under the direction of Mr. Marvin Q. Veeder.

Bellevue is a neighborhood in Schenectady, New York, United States. Within Bellevue is the General Electric (GE) Main Plant, built in 1886 and which was once home to the company headquarters from its formation in the late-19th century until moving to Connecticut in the mid-1970s. Historically many residents walked to work to the GE plant. Bellevue, along with neighboring Mont Pleasant, was annexed by the city of Schenectady in 1903 from the town of Rotterdam.

Mica Insulator Company is a historic daylight factory complex located at Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York. The complex consists of the four-story Micanite Works built in 1915 and the adjacent three-story Lamicoid Building built in 1946. The two buildings are connected by a third floor exterior walkway. The Micanite Works is of reinforced concrete construction and the Lamicoid Building is a steel frame building with brick curtain walls. Both features large multi-paned windows and open floor plans.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

The Schenectady City School District is a public city school district in the city of Schenectady in Schenectady County, New York. The district has 17 operating school buildings and is a component district of the Capital Region Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES). It was established in 1854 and served 9,256 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade in the 2018–2019 school year.As of 2008-2009, the district employed 728.8 (on an FTE basis) faculty members and the student-to-teacher ratio was 13.1. As of 2009, the district had the largest population of any school district in the Capital District.

Horace Mann School, also known as Craig Street School, is a historic school building located at Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York. It was built in 1907–1908, and is a two-story, I-shaped brick building above a reinforced concrete basement. The building includes some Neoclassical design elements including large fanlights, a projecting modillioned cornice, and monumental corner pilasters. A one-story rear addition was constructed in 1986. The Horace Mann School closed in 1981. The building is identical to the former Franklin School, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

It developed into GE Global Research that now covers an array of technological research, ranging from healthcare to transportation systems, at multiple locations throughout the world. Its campus in Schenectady, New York was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1975.

St. Columba's School is a historic school building located at Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York. It was built in 1923, and is a three-story, reddish-brown brick building in the Collegiate Gothic style. It features white Indiana limestone buttress amortizements, pinnacles, and a crenellated parapet. The school closed in 1974, and since 1976 the building has housed the local Boys and Girls Club.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

The Schenectady Armory is located on Washington Avenue in the city of the same name in the U.S. state of New York. It is a brown brick building dating to 1936. New York's state architect at that time, William Haugaard, used the Art Deco architectural style for the exterior of the building and the Tudorbethan mode for the interior. The armory remains virtually intact today. It was home to two units of the New York Army National Guard until it was closed in 2008. In 1995 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

SUNY Schenectady is a public community college in Schenectady, New York. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. It was established in 1967 in the Van Curler Hotel in Downtown Schenectady and has undergone multiple expansions through the following decades.

Central Fire Station is a historic fire station located at Schenectady in Schenectady County, New York, USA. It was built between 1924 and 1929 and is a three-story, brick civic building in the Georgian Revival style. The front facade is dominated by a broad, five bay central pavilion. The first floor of the front facade is composed of five segmentally arched entrance bays faced with cast stone. The Schenectady Fire Department ceased using the building in 1981.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
