The name was provided by early settlers from New Hartford, Connecticut. The Village of New Hartford is inside the Town of New Hartford, near the border with Utica.

St. Stephen's Church is a historic church at 22-27 Oxford Street in New Hartford, Oneida County, New York. It was built in 1825 and is a rectangular timber framed Federal style structure with selected Gothic detail. It features a central pavilion and two-stage tower composed of a square lower level and octagonal belfry with domed cap. A Gothic Revival parish house ell was attached to the main block in 1912 and subsequently enlarged in the 1950s.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

The college was a product of the mission and tradition of St. Elizabeth Medical Center (SEMC): with the closing of SEMC in October 2023, SECON is now a part of the Mohawk Valley Health System. Established in 1904 as a single purpose, associate's degree program, St. Elizabeth College of Nursing offers training to would-be qualified Registered Nurses.

Notre Dame Junior Senior High School (NDJSHS) is a co-ed Catholic high school in Utica, New York. It is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse. Notre Dame was established in 1959 by the Xaverian Brothers. The land that the school was built on was the former location of a military hospital. Initially, the school owned the land currently occupied by the Utica Business Park, but sold most of it to the city, creating its current boundaries. Originally just a high school, in 1994 both local Catholic junior high schools merged with Notre Dame and moved to the high school building.The school hosts a Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps.

The Uptown Theatre is a historic movie theater in Utica, New York. It opened on December 29, 1927, during the silent film and Vaudeville eras, and is the city's oldest surviving theater, predating the Stanley Theater by eight months. It was part of the Kallet chain of movie theaters, like the Capitol Theatre in nearby Rome and other theaters no longer standing throughout Upstate New York.

New York Mills is a village in Oneida County, New York, United States. The population was 3,327 at the 2010 census. The village of New York Mills is partly in the town of Whitestown and partly in the town of New Hartford. It is a western suburb of the city of Utica.

Donovan Stadium is a stadium in Utica, New York. It is primarily used for baseball and was formerly the home of Utica Blue Sox. The ballpark has a capacity of 4,000 people and opened in 1976. The movement to remodel the field started in 1967 in effort of the Utica Free Academy Student Council spearheaded by then President Steven Oram. Shares of imaginary stock were sold to students and the proceeds given to the City to highlight the need and community interest. Oram a successful Maryland Attorney went on to establish the Give Back to Utica Fund at the Community Foundation of Oneida and Herkimer Counties The newly founded four-team New York State League played all of its games there for the 2007 season. It is the current home of the Utica Blue Sox, originally of the collegiate summer New York Collegiate Baseball League but today of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, and it is also used for American Legion baseball. The stadium was named after James H. Donovan.

Forest Hills Cemetery is located at 2201 Oneida Street, in Utica, New York. It is a non-sectarian cemetery, which means anyone of any religion can be buried there. Over the years some nationally and locally recognized people have been buried here. Because of its many monuments, grave sites of famous people, along with other historical structures, the cemetery is sometimes referred to as "Utica's outdoor museum".
