Kwinana bus station is a Transperth bus station located next to the Kwinana Marketplace Shopping Centre in Kwinana Town Centre. It has 10 stands and is served by five Transperth routes operated by Transdev WA. The original Kwinana bus station opened in 1975–76. Located on Rockingham Road in Kwinana Beach near the Thomas Road intersection, the original bus station closed on the commissioning of the Kwinana bus Station and demolished. The new station was initially named the Kwinana bus station. It was renamed to Kwinana Hub bus station when the adjacent shopping centre was named the Kwinana Hub and when the Mandurah Line opens in end-2007. It was renamed back to Kwinana bus station when the adjacent shopping centre was renamed.

Gilmore College is an independent public co-educational high day school, located in Orelia, an outer south-western suburb of Perth in Western Australia, Sited approximately 32 kilometres (20 mi) from the Perth CBD, the school is located on Dargin Place. Formerly known as Kwinana Senior High School (1959 to 2007), and originally was called Medina Junior High School (1956 to 1958), the name Gilmore College was adopted in 2006. The school was established in 1956 and caters for students from Year 7 to Year 12. Years 7 to 9 comprise the College's middle school, and Years 10 to 12 comprise the College's senior school. The number of student enrolments have been erratic over the last five years. The school enrolled 780 students in 2007, then 1,204 in 2008, to 1,075 in 2009, then fell to 986 in 2010 and to 957 in 2011. The fall in student numbers from 2010 is a result of the enrolment age changing for students entering high school in Western Australia. Also the fall in student numbers was due to the Peter Carnley Anglican Community School opening nearby in 2007.

Calista is a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. Calista is one of the Kwinana suburbs named after a ship. Calista was one of the first ships to bring settlers to the Swan River Colony. She arrived with 73 passengers on 5 August 1829 under the command of Captain S. Hawkins. Two of the most notable passengers on the ship were Lionel and William Samson.Calista is home to the Kwinana Adventure Park which was voted the Western Australia's joint Favourite Playground in 2021.

Orelia is a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. Orelia is one of the Kwinana suburbs named after a ship. Orelia arrived at Fremantle bringing settlers to the new Swan River Colony in October 1829. Development of the area commenced in 1952.Orelia Avenue is the main residential street that runs through the suburb. There is a distinct difference between the established houses on the west side and the newly built homes on the east side. However, despite this juxtaposition, there is a cross mix between the style and design of housing in the suburb which adds to its originality and character.

On 13 June 2016, 18-year-old Aaron Lee Pajich-Sweetman disappeared from Rockingham, Western Australia. During the night of 20–21 June, police searching a property in Orelia found his body. Two women—25-year-old Jemma Victoria Lilley and 42-year-old Trudi Clare Lenon—were arrested and charged with murder. On 1 November 2017, Lilley and Lenon were convicted of the murder of Pajich by the Supreme Court of Western Australia, and on 28 February 2018, they were sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 28 years.

Peter Carnley Anglican Community School is a private co-educational school located in Perth, Western Australia in the suburb of Wellard. It is located on 9 hectares of land adjacent to public open space of almost 6 hectares and an agreement exists that allows for the school to access the City of Kwinana's sporting facilities. The school is named in honour of the 6th Archbishop of Perth, Peter Carnley, who served as Archbishop of Perth and Metropolitan of Western Australia from 1981 to 2005. He was also the Anglican Primate of Australia from 2000 to 2005. The school offers K–12 education. In January 2017 the school opened a second campus located in Calista for K–2 education, with year 3–12 education continuing on the Wellard campus.

Medina is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. It lies 32 km south of central Perth. Medina was the first developed of the Kwinana suburbs named after ships carrying settlers to the Swan River Colony in 1829 and 1830. Medina arrived at Fremantle on 6 July 1830 with 51 passengers on board. The ship's name Medina is believed to be derived from the River Medina on the Isle of Wight, and was approved as a suburb name in 1953. Streets were named after passengers and crew, such as Pace Road after Captain Walter Pace, and Ridley Green, Ridley Way and Ridley Court after passenger Mary Eliza Ridley.

Parmelia is a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located in the City of Kwinana. Parmelia is one of the Kwinana suburbs named after a ship. Parmelia was the first ship to arrive in June 1829 bringing settlers to establish the new colony at the Swan River in Western Australia. Its passengers included the new Governor and his wife, James and Ellen Stirling.Chisham Avenue is the main residential street which runs through the suburb. It features an array of homes built during the 1970s which were once home to the managers for BP's oil refinery industrial operations and company executives. The suburb is close to schools, public parks, and a new shopping centre which is currently being rebuilt and renovated by new owner Woolworths. The list of parks includes Hunt Park, Peace Park, Morrit Park, Brandon Mews Park, Oakfield Garden POS, Bournan Heights POS, Barney Park and Skottowe Park. There is a recquatic centre which features a gym, swimming pool, spa and sauna, and sports courts for basketball, indoor soccer and other sports. The Kwinana Recquatic is embarking on a $6,000,000 refurbishment project which is set to re-launch the centre as Kwinana's premier fitness and recreation facility.Parmelia is a family orientated suburb with many young families and retirees. The Metronet project will see the rail line through Parmelia and upgrades to the Kwinana railway station boost liveability in the area. Federal funding for the project was received in May 2017. Property developer, the Meridian group has engaged with the City of Kwinana to design and build detached houses, townhouses, villas and apartments in Parmelia. Construction has begun and a row of double storey houses and townhouses are currently undergoing construction.Parmelia is at the centre of a $340m city centre revitalisation. The redevelopment includes a $22m library and resource centre, $7.5m youth space, the new Admiral Hotel and a revamp of the Kwinana Marketplace Shopping Centre. The suburb also has some of the most extensive parklands and natural bush reserves in the state.The Kwinana Adventure Park is opposite the Kwinana Marketplace shopping centre. It was built by the City of Kwinana at a cost of $5.2 million, and features 11,000 m2 (120,000 sq ft) of play space, making it one of the largest public playgrounds in Western Australia. The suburb was also home to Australian supermodel and actress Megan Gale, the brand ambassador for the up-market department retail chain company David Jones.

Wellard railway station is a railway station in Wellard, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It is on the Mandurah railway line, which is part of the Transperth commuter rail network, and is located at the centre of a transit oriented development. It has two side platforms located in a cutting, accessed by a ground-level station concourse. Services run every 10 minutes during peak, and every 15 minutes between peak. The journey to Perth railway station is 37.1 kilometres (23.1 mi), and takes 30 minutes. The station has a bus interchange with four bus stands, and three regular bus routes. The station was known as Leda station during planning. The station was designed by Woodhead International Architects and MPS Architects. Construction of the station by Doric Constructions and Brierty Contractors started in late 2005. The station was complete by January 2007, and was opened on 23 December 2007, along with the rest of the Mandurah line.

Postans is an unpopulated suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. The suburb is named after George Postans who was one of the first settlers in the area. He arrived in the Colony as a convict in 1850 and after he was released he bought 100 acres (0.40 km2) of land in 1882. The suburb was formerly known as "Caledonia". An agriculture research station known as "Medina Research Station", part of the Department of Agriculture and Food of the state government of Western Australia, is located in the suburb. The suburb is otherwise dominated by several quarries, a tailing pond of the nearby Alcoa alumina refinery and a facility called the "Kwinana Wastewater Treatment Plant".

Leda is a southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia within the City of Kwinana. Leda is one of the five main suburbs of Kwinana. Leda is one of the Kwinana suburbs named after a ship. The brig Leda brought settlers to the new Swan River Colony in January 1830. The suburb name was approved in 1969. Leda suburb has a strong link to its neighbouring suburb Wellard, with transport and retail accessed in part from there. Climate is characteristic of Western Australia, with rainfall concentrated around the colder period of the year between May and September. Leda houses employees of Kwinana's industrial region, and common occupations are in construction, planning and technical fields. Retail and food preparation is another common form of employment. There are several primary and secondary education facilities in Leda and local Kwinana suburbs, including schools assisting young people with disabilities. Leda contains one region protected by state environmental conservation agreements. Its reserve contains protected wetlands and forests, including part of the Swan Coastal Plain and the Beeliar Wetland system. The Swan River makes up the local water catchment. Bertram is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Kwinana. Bertram derives its name from the family name of a Group Settler of the 1920s who owned land in the area. It was established as a locality name on 17 December 1998.Bertram has seen a recent spate of growth with the development of a small shopping centre, the opening of the Mandurah railway line with a station in the suburb and continued land releases within the Belgravia Central estate. The local public school is Bertram Primary School that first opened its doors in 2007 with 250 students. It is an Official Apple Distinguished School.: 11
