Henniker (CDP), New Hampshire

Henniker is a town in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. As of the 2020 census, the reported total population of the town was 6,185, although the figure, 27.9% greater than the 2010 population, has been questioned by local officials. Henniker is home to New England College and Pats Peak Ski Area. Henniker is a college town and resort area, featuring both skiing and white-water kayaking. The main village of the town, where 3,166 people resided at the 2020 census, is defined as the Henniker census-designated place (CDP), and is located along the Contoocook River at the junction of New Hampshire Route 114 with Old Concord Road. The town also includes the village of West Henniker.

Henniker Academy was a school in Henniker, New Hampshire. The historic school building at 51 Maple Street in downtown Henniker is now home to the Henniker Historical Society. Alumni of Henniker Academy include abolitionist Richard Foster. The school's building was constructed by Horace Childs in 1836. William Martin Chase, later a justice of the Supreme Court of New Hampshire, taught at the school for a brief time.

New England College (NEC) is a private liberal arts college in Henniker, New Hampshire. As of Fall 2020 New England College's enrollment was 4,327 students (1,776 undergraduate and 2,551 graduate). The college is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education.

WNEC-FM (91.7 FM) is a radio station licensed to serve Henniker, New Hampshire. The station is owned by New England College. It airs a college radio format.The station has been assigned the WNEC-FM call letters by the Federal Communications Commission since November 2, 1970. The station signed on February 9, 1971.

The Henniker Town Hall is the town hall of Henniker, New Hampshire. The wood-frame building, built in 1786–87, is one of a small number of surviving 18th century meetinghouses in New Hampshire. At that time, its main entrance was on the long south wall, facing the raised pulpit on the north wall, and the floor was taken up by pews. The interior was decorated with high quality woodwork, which still survives. The roughly rectangular building had 1+1⁄2-story enclosed porch extensions on both sides.By the 1880s the building had been dedicated exclusively for municipal use, and in 1887 it underwent major alterations. Its upper galleries were built over to provide a full second floor, and the western porch was converted for use by the board of selectmen above, and a kitchen facility below. The eastern porch was converted into a vestibule area with ticket booth and cloakroom, and became the new main entrance. Some alterations were also made to the exterior, giving it is present appearance.The building served as the town hall until 1946, after which it was used by New England College as a classroom facility. Inadequacies in its heating system precluded it from more than incidental uses, however. In the 1970s the town voted to restore the building for use as its town hall. The first floor meeting space was converted to office areas for municipal and court functions, but with movable partitions so as not to harm the historic fabric of the building.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

Bennett Farm is a historic farmstead at 11 Bennett Road in Henniker, New Hampshire. The area has been farmed since the 1730s, when Henniker was laid out, and has been in the Bennett family for over a century. It is the oldest surviving farmstead in the rural community, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

WTPL (107.7 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a news/talk format. Licensed to Hillsborough, New Hampshire, United States, it serves the Manchester area. The station is owned by Bill Binnie's Binnie Media, through licensee WBIN Media Co., Inc. It airs a news/talk radio format. It the flagship station of "The Pulse of NH", a trimulcast with WTSN in the Seacoast Region and WEMJ in the Lakes Region.

Craney Hill State Forest is in Henniker, New Hampshire. It comprises 21 acres (8.5 ha) along the south side of Old Concord Road and is also bordered by gravel pits on two sides and private land.

Ames State Forest is in Henniker, New Hampshire. It covers 13 acres (5.3 ha). It was established after Flora Ames, a resident of Henniker, donated about 15 acres to the state for reforestation. Keyser Pond Campground on Keyser Pond and Craney Hill State Forest are nearby.

Ashenden State Forest, sometimes written as Ashendon State Forest, is a 165-acre (67-hectare) protected area in the town of Warner, New Hampshire. It was donated to the state by Katharine Brown. She subsequently donated an easement on an adjacent 83 acres (34 ha) including a historic farmhouse. Brown died in 2005. Ashenden State Forest is located south of Cunningham Pond, the Chandler Reservation, and the Harriman Chandler State Forest.

The St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center is a 223-acre (90 ha) camp run by the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston and located in the town of Hopkinton, New Hampshire near the village of Contoocook. The site occupies the former village of Cloughville and had previously been home to Camp Merrimac.

New Henniker Bridge or New Bridge was a covered bridge in West Hopkinton, New Hampshire, which carried Henniker Road over the Contoocook River. The truss bridge was completed in 1863, and was the second bridge on the site. The original stone arch bridge was built in 1845 and was washed away by flood in 1852. The bridge was just over 20 feet (6.1 m) wide and 180 feet (55 m) long, and consisted of a single span supported by two triple lattice trusses resting on granite abutments. The patent drawings show an all-timber truss with fixed intersection angles in the center of the span. At the ends of the span the angles of the diagonals vary. The end post is vertical, and each brace further from it is sloped a little more.In 1935 the bridge had sustained damage during a flood and was repaired. The bridge was utilized until 1936 when a steel truss bridge was built adjoining it to the north and ready for traffic. The covered bridge was then destroyed.
