Marlborough, New Hampshire

Marlborough is a census-designated place (CDP) and the main village in the town of Marlborough in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, United States. The population of the CDP was 1,066 at the 2020 census, out of 2,096 in the entire town.

Otter Brook is a 13.2-mile-long (21.2 km) river located in southwestern New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of The Branch of the Ashuelot River, itself a tributary of the Connecticut River, which flows to Long Island Sound. Otter Brook begins at Chandler Meadow, in the town of Stoddard, New Hampshire. It flows southwest through the towns of Nelson, Sullivan, and Roxbury, eventually entering the city of Keene, where it joins Minnewawa Brook to form The Branch. The brook passes through Ellis Reservoir (a small lake in Sullivan) and Otter Brook Lake, a flood control reservoir built on the boundary between Keene and Roxbury. The dam which created Otter Brook lake was completed in 1958. From the village of East Sullivan to Otter Brook Lake, the brook is followed by New Hampshire Route 9.

Cheshire County is a county in the southwestern corner of the U.S. state of New Hampshire. As of the 2020 census, the population was 76,458. Its county seat is the city of Keene. Cheshire was one of the five original counties of New Hampshire, and is named for the county of Cheshire in England. It was organized in 1771 at Keene. Sullivan County was created from the northern portion of Cheshire County in 1827. Cheshire County comprises the Keene, NH micropolitan statistical area.

The Stone Arch Bridge is a stone arch railroad bridge in Keene, New Hampshire, United States. Built in 1847 to carry the Cheshire Railroad, it is one of the best-preserved pre-1850 stone arch bridges in the nation. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012, and the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2006. It now carries a multi-purpose rail trail.

Roxbury is a town in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 220 at the 2020 census.

The Monadnock Region is a region in southwestern New Hampshire. It is named after Mount Monadnock, a 3,165 foot isolated mountain, which is the dominant geographic landmark in the region. Although it has no specific borders, the Monadnock Region is generally thought of comprising all of Cheshire County and the western portion of Hillsborough County. In addition to the frequently hiked Mount Monadnock, the region offers abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation, including four New Hampshire state parks. Pisgah State Park consists of 13,300 acres (5,400 ha) of forest, seven protected ponds popular for fishing, and six trails that may be used for hiking, mountain biking, ATVs, and snowmobiles. The Monadnock Region also boasts four recreational rail trails, lakes with public swimming beaches, and three ski areas. The largest municipality, and only city, in the region is Keene with 23,409 residents. The nearby town of Peterborough is famous for the MacDowell Colony and for being the setting of the Thornton Wilder play Our Town. Other notable landmarks in the region include Cathedral of the Pines and Franklin Pierce College, both located in Rindge.

The Smith–Mason Farm is a historic farmstead at Meadow Road and Old Roxbury Road in Harrisville, New Hampshire. First developed in the late 18th century, the property has been adaptively used as a farm, summer estate, and family residence, representing major periods in Harrisville's development. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Dillant–Hopkins Airport (IATA: EEN, ICAO: KEEN, FAA LID: EEN) is a general aviation airport located 2 miles (3.2 km) south of the central business district (CBD) of Keene, in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, United States. It covers 888 acres (359 ha) and has two runways. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, in which it is categorized as a regional general aviation facility.The city enjoyed six decades of regularly scheduled airline service starting in the 1940s, with multiple daily flights operated with a mix of commuter prop, regional turboprop and mainline jet service. As of June 2008, however, the airport had no commercial airline service.

The Needham House is a historic house on Meadow Road near Chesham village in Harrisville, New Hampshire. Built in 1845, it is a modest but well-preserved local example of Greek Revival styling. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Stone Farm is a historic farmhouse on Old Marlborough Road in Dublin, New Hampshire. Built about 1806 with several 19th-century alterations, it is a well-preserved example of a period farmhouse. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Stone-Darracott House is a historic house on Old Marlborough Road in Dublin, New Hampshire. It was built in 1792 by John Stone, an early settler of Dublin for whom nearby Stone Pond is named. The house was also made part of a "gentleman's farm" by Mrs. Alberta Houghton (of the Houghton Mifflin publishing family) in the early 20th century, along with the adjacent Stone Farm. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Lawrence Farm is a historic farm at 9 Lawrence Road (now effectively the driveway to the house off Marlborough Road) in Troy, New Hampshire. Established in the early 19th century, the property has been in continuous ownership by the same family since then. Its farmstead, including a c. 1806 farmhouse, exemplifies the changing trends in domestic agricultural practices of the 19th and 20th centuries. The farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
