The L. S. Starrett Company (NYSE: SCX) is an American manufacturer of tools and instruments used by machinists, tool and die makers, and the construction industry. The company was founded by businessman and inventor Laroy Sunderland Starrett in 1880. The company patented such items as the sliding combination square, bench vises, and a shoe hook fastener. It makes precision steel rules and tapes, calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators, among others. In addition, Starrett manufacturers a wide variety of saw products including bandsaws, hole saws, jigsaws, amongst other power tool accessories and cutting tools. More recently, they have expanded their high-end metrology equipment solutions including optical comparators, vision systems, laser measurement, force and material measurement testing. Starrett employs about 2,000 people worldwide, and the company claimed (as of 2008) to be the last remaining full-line precision tool company to be manufacturing their products within the United States. If so, much of the firm's manufacturing nevertheless takes place at facilities in the People's Republic of China, Brazil, Germany, and the UK, with 28% of Starrett's worldwide sales being in Brazil in 2013.

The Pequoig Hotel is an historic former hotel building at 416 Main Street in Athol, Massachusetts. Built in 1894 by a leading local developer, it is downtown Athol's largest and most prominent building. After serving as a hotel into the 1950s, it was converted into a senior living facility in 1982. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Athol is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Athol in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 8,265 at the 2010 census.

The Old Athol High School building is an historic school building at 494 School Street in Athol, Massachusetts. It is now a senior living center. The H-shaped two story brick Art Deco building was constructed in several stages between 1915 and 1937. The building originated with a central portion that was built in 1892, to which two sides of the H were added in 1915. In 1937 the original 1892 central portion was demolished and replaced by the present central section. The building served as the town's high school until 1957 when it was used for junior high and middle grades in the Athol-Royalston Regional School District. It served that purpose until 2003. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. It has been converted to residential use.

Old Town Hall is a historic town hall in Athol, Massachusetts. Built in 1828 as a church, it served as town hall from 1847 to 1957, and now houses the local historical society. It is architecturally a good example of Federal period civic/religious architecture of the period. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Athol Memorial Hospital, now called Athol Hospital, is a hospital in Athol, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1950 by Addison Sawyer, who was an inventor. He had donated money to the cause of the hospital's establishment. Athol was named in honor of Athol soldiers who died during World War II. With over 25 beds and a 24-hour Emergency Department, it serves Athol, Erving, New Salem, Orange, Petersham and other surrounding areas.

WVAO-LP (105.9 FM) is a community radio station licensed to Athol, Massachusetts and serves the Athol/Orange area. Its broadcast license is held by Athol Orange Community Television, Inc.

Athol-Royalston Regional High School is a public high school in Athol, Massachusetts. The Bears are the school mascot and the school colors are red and white. The Old Athol High School is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The current high school is at 2363 Main Street. It is part of the Athol-Royalston Regional School District. The school serves grades 9–12. In 2016, it reported 358 students and a 75–79 percent graduation rate. The school registered 8 percent minority enrollment. It scored above average in state tests.

WKMY (99.9 FM; "K-Love") is a radio station broadcasting a contemporary Christian music format. Licensed to Athol, Massachusetts, United States, it serves the North County and Pioneer Valley areas. The signal for WKMY can be heard in north central Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire, and southern Vermont. It first began broadcasting in 1989 under the call sign WCAT-FM. The station is owned by the Educational Media Foundation.

Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust, incorporated in 1986, is a non-profit organization whose mission is the conservation of woodland and agricultural land in north central and western Massachusetts. Based out of Athol, Massachusetts, the MGLCT is named after Mount Grace, a nearby monadnock. As of August 2016, the trust had protected 31,559 acres by completing 335 projects."

Tully Lake, of Royalston, Massachusetts, is a 1,262-acre (511 ha) reservoir and flood control project constructed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in 1949 for 1.6 million dollars. The project prevents flooding of the greater Connecticut River and Millers River valleys and provides a variety of recreational opportunities, including a campground operated by The Trustees of Reservations. Tully Lake is an important link in the 22-mile (35 km) Tully Trail.
