Butler is a Legislative Assembly electorate in the state of Western Australia. The district is named for the outer northern Perth suburb of Butler, which falls within its borders.

Alkimos railway station is a proposed station on the Joondalup Line in Perth, Western Australia that is being delivered as part of the Metronet Yanchep rail extension project. Construction of the station Started in 2021, with expected completion in 2023.The station will include a bus interchange with eight weather-protected stands, and approximately 600 parking bays. The station will also include 10 bicycle parking u-rails, two bike shelters with the ability to add two more, and a dedicated passenger drop-off area.The station will be situated near the intersection of Marmion Avenue and Romeo Road and will be accessed off a purpose-built street, as part of the DevelopmentWA Alkimos Central development. Approximately 3,616 daily boardings are predicted at Alkimos railway station in 2031. Services to Perth and Yanchep will be provided by Transperth Trains, with the journey to Perth to take approximately 41 minutes. At the 2021–22 State Budget, it was announced that the Yanchep rail extension had been deferred by 12 months, as a result of Western Australia's skills shortage. This was alongside the deferment of 15 other state government infrastructure projects. The revised opening date is late 2023.

Butler railway station (officially Butler Station) is a commuter railway station in Butler, Western Australia, a suburb of Perth. It is the terminus of the Joondalup line, which is on the Transperth commuter rail network. Planning for the Joondalup line in the Butler area began in the late 1990s. The station was built as part of a $240 million extension of the Joondalup line from Clarkson to Butler. Construction began on the station on 16 July 2012, and was completed on 16 May 2014, opening on 21 September 2014. The Joondalup line is currently being extended past Butler station to Yanchep railway station. As of November 2021, the extension is planned to open at the end of 2023. Butler station has two side platforms situated in a cutting below the surrounding ground level. It is accessed from a ground-level concourse. Services run every 10 minutes during peak and every 15 minutes between peak. The journey to Perth railway station is 40.7 kilometres (25.3 mi), and takes 38 minutes. The station is served by six regular bus routes, operated by Swan Transit under contract. To the south, these bus routes link to Clarkson station, traversing through several suburbs along the way. To the north, these bus routes go as far as Two Rocks, on the northern edge of the Perth metropolitan region.
