Walsall

The Metropolitan Borough of Walsall is a metropolitan borough in the West Midlands, England. It is named after its largest settlement, Walsall, but covers a larger area which also includes Aldridge, Bloxwich, Brownhills, Darlaston, Pelsall and Willenhall. The borough had an estimated population of 254,500 in 2007.The borough was created on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972. It is bounded on the west by the City of Wolverhampton, the south by the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell, to the south east by the City of Birmingham, and by the Staffordshire districts of Lichfield, Cannock Chase and South Staffordshire to the east, north and northwest respectively. Most of the borough is highly industrialised and densely populated, but areas around the north and east of the borough are open space.

St Mary's Church or St Mary's the Mount Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Walsall, West Midlands, England. It was built from 1825 to 1827 and designed by Joseph Ireland in the Neoclassical style. It is located between Glebe Street and Vicarage Place, backing on to Vicarage Walk in the centre of the town. Since 2012, it has been served by the Vocationist Fathers and it is a Grade II* listed building.

St Matthew's Church (formerly All Saints' Church) is a Church of England parish church in Walsall, West Midlands, England. It was rebuilt in 1820-1821 by Francis Goodwin, but includes remains of the earlier church built around 1220 and dedicated to All Saints. It is a Grade II* listed building, and on Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register. The church was rededicated to St Matthew when rebuilt. The church is the oldest building in Walsall and serves as the main parish church of the town. It sits at a high elevation above the town on a hill and can be seen when entering the town.The first Rector, Magister Serlo De Sunning, was appointed by King John in 1211. From 1248 until 1538 appointments of Rector were given to Halesowen Abbey. Since then, appointments were made by the Earl of Bradford and transferred to the Bishop of Lichfield in 1945. The east window commemorates Sister Dora and the stained glass is the work of Burlison and Grylls.

Walsall Town Hall is located at Leicester Street in Walsall, West Midlands, England. The building, which opened in 1903, is used for a variety of functions including wedding receptions and concerts. It was designated a grade II listed building in 1986.

The Saddlers Centre is a shopping centre located in Walsall, West Midlands, United Kingdom. The shopping centre takes its name from the town's saddle manufacturing heritage and is also known as the nickname for the towns football team Walsall FC. The centre is spread over two floors with access to the top floor from Park Street, the towns main shopping area, while the lower floor is accessible from Bridge Street, next to Bradford Place Bus Station. The top floor of the complex is home to Walsall railway station. Also attached to the centre is a three-storey car park. It opened in April 1980 and was refurbished in 1989/90.It was purchased by Walsall Council in 2017 for £13.8 million in a 'behind closed doors deal'. In 2018 the key tenant Marks & Spencers closed down leaving the centre with a valuation significantly lower than that paid less than 12 months earlier.

The station is managed by Transport for West Midlands, and is the terminus for a large number of bus routes operated by National Express West Midlands, Diamond Bus, Walsall Community Transport and D&G Bus.
