The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows (Spanish: Nuestra Señora de los Dolores) is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 105 Pitt Street between Rivington Street and Stanton Street in the Lower East Side of Manhattan in New York City. The area formerly served Catholics who lived in the immigrant enclave of Kleindeutschland (Little Germany).

The 124 Ridge Street Gallery was a collective gallery founded in New York's Lower East Side in 1985. Founding members were Susan Bachemin, Elizabeth Evers, Jane Fine, Matthew Harrison, Michael Kaniecki, Robert McGrath, Heidi Marben, Laurie Olinder, and Joe Vinson. Subsequent members included Amy Berniker, Ruth Pomerantz, Paul Rodriguez, Roger W. Sayre, Ann Shea, Paul Villinski and Carla Weisberg. The gallery exhibited art and film from local artists and filmmakers during the 1980s East Village art gallery scene, including Matty Jankowski's 1987 mail art show "The Joke is in the Mail." The film screening series Film Crash was founded at the gallery. The gallery was closed in 1997.

Rivington Arms was an art gallery in New York City. Melissa Bent and Mirabelle Marden (daughter of artists Helen and Brice Marden) founded the gallery as a small storefront on Rivington Street in 2001, part of a new wave of galleries opening in the Lower East Side. In 2005, it moved to a larger space on East 2nd Street.The gallery participates in the following art fairs: The Armory Show, Frieze, NADA, and VOLTAshow. It was announced on November 5, 2008 in Artforum that due to business differences, Rivington Arms would be closing its location in January 2009 after they attended the Frieze Art Fair in London.

Hamilton Fish Park is a public park in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. The park encompasses two blocks bounded by Houston, Pitt, Sheriff, and Stanton Streets. It contains a playground, basketball courts, and an outdoor swimming complex with general swimming and wading pools. Hamilton Fish Park also includes a Beaux-Arts recreation center designed by Carrère and Hastings. It is maintained by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks). Hamilton Fish Park, named after former New York governor Hamilton Fish, was planned during the late 19th century to alleviate overcrowded living conditions in the Lower East Side. The park and recreation building opened in 1900 as a landscaped park designed by Carrère and Hastings. The original design was reconfigured to accommodate more active recreation uses. The pool was built during a Works Progress Administration project in 1935–1936. The recreation center was made a New York City designated landmark in 1982, and the park was restored in the 1990s.

Economy Candy is a candy store in the Lower East Side New York City. It was established in 1937. The managers are the Cohen family.Serious Eats described Economy Candy as the craziest and best candy store in New York City.The store celebrated its 85th anniversary in July 2022.Economy Candy stocks many branded candies, including older brands which are difficult to find elsewhere.The Cohen family who owns the store also has a history of themselves working at the store.In February 2023 the store announced its first expansion location, which will be in the Chelsea Market.

The Old Church of St. Rose of Lima is a former Roman Catholic parish church which was under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 36 Cannon Street between Broome Street and Delancey Street in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. The rectory was located at 42 Cannon Street; the school was located at 290 Delancey Street. The 1871 church was described by The New York Times when it opened in 1871, as one of the finest churches in the city. The church was demolished around July 1901 and the site redeveloped in conjunction with the erection of the Williamsburg Bridge (1903) and public housing. A new church was begun shortly after property was purchased in July 1900 at Grand and Lewis Streets. The parish closed in the 1960s.

Stanton Street Synagogue, also known as Stanton Street Shul and Congregation Bnai Jacob Anshei Brzezan (Yiddish: קאנגרעגיישאן בני יעקב אנשי ברזעזאן, "Congregation Sons of Jacob, People of Brzezan"), is a historic synagogue located at 180 Stanton Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York. It was constructed in 1913 by a landsmanshaft from the town of Brzeżany in southeast Galicia. The first Rabbi of the congregation, in their first building, was Rabbi Judah Leib Rose (1867-1946). He had arrived in New York in 1909 and encouraged the congregation to build the Shul on Stanton Street. One of the few surviving tenement-style synagogues, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. That same year, the synagogue's congregants went to court over an attempt by its rabbi and board members to sell the aging structure to an organization run by a Jesuit priest. The resultant settlement and media attention led to a resurgence in interest in the synagogue. In 2012 its membership stands at about 100 congregants, representing a wide, intergenerational mix. The Stanton Street Synagogue was founded as a traditional, or Orthodox, house of worship and remains so until today.

Colors was a 70-seat restaurant in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. The September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center destroyed the popular Windows on the World restaurant, and, when many of its former workers remained unemployed a non-profit started a restaurant named Colors to employ them, while upgrading their skills.

The Bialystoker Synagogue at 7–11 Bialystoker Place, formerly Willett Street, between Grand and Broome Streets in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City is an Orthodox Jewish synagogue. The building was constructed in 1826 as the Willett Street Methodist Episcopal Church; the synagogue purchased the building in 1905. The synagogue was designated a New York City Landmark in 1966. It is one of only four early-19th century fieldstone religious buildings surviving from the late Federal period in Lower Manhattan, and is the oldest building used as a synagogue in New York City.

wd~50 was a molecular gastronomy New American/international restaurant in Manhattan, New York City. It was opened in 2003 by chef Wylie Dufresne. wd-50 closed 30 November 2014.

The Stone is a not-for-profit experimental music performance space located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood in New York City. It was founded in April 2005 by John Zorn, who serves as the artistic director. It was named for the late Irving Stone, an "inveterate concertgoer" in the New York City music community.

New Explorations into Science, Technology and Math, abbreviated NEST+M, is a public school located on the Lower East Side of the Manhattan borough of New York City, New York, and is under the supervision of the New York City Department of Education, serving grades kindergarten through 12th grade (the only K-12 public school in Manhattan).The school exclusively enrolls New York City resident K–3 children scoring within the 97th, 98th, or 99th percentile and sixth-graders at the 95th percentile nationwide in standardized tests administered by the New York City Department of Education for their Gifted & Talented Program. It is one of only five such New York citywide programs where qualified elementary or middle school students from any school district in any borough may enroll, and also the only program with a dedicated facility (the other four programs share schools with the general education student population) and the only program serving grades K through 12. Prospective 9th and 10th-grade students apply through the NYC High School Application Process as well as their entrance exam. As of September 2017, Principal Mark Berkowitz eliminated the NEST+m entrance exam and published the new rubric on the NEST+m website. In April 2020, Principal Mark Berkowitz resigned and accepted a position as Principal at Pelham Memorial High School located in Pelham, NY. Meaghan Lynch became the interim acting principal on July 1, 2020.
