Åneby Station

Åneby is a village in the municipality of Nittedal, Norway. Its population (2006) is 1356 [1].

Hakadal is a village in the northern part of Nittedal municipality in Akershus, Norway. The village and parish is the site of Hakadal Church (Hakadal Kirke). Hakadal Church dates to around 1610 and was originally constructed in a rectangular shape of timber. The church was restored in 1684, 1732, 1849 and 1890. In 1732, church was extended to the west. In 1849, the church's expansions included the addition of a church tower. The church has two church bells; one dating to 1839. The altarpiece was carved by Johan Jørgen Schramn in 1732. The parish was also the site of the Hakadals verk iron works which dated from around 1550. Ore originally came from mines in Hakadal and Gjerdrum. After these sources were exhausted in the early 1800s, ore from Bærum and Dikemark. There was also ore from Nes Jernverk. The ironworks was shut down in 1869. Hakadal Station (Hakadal stasjon) is located on the Gjøvik Line (Gjøvikbanen). The station was opened in 1900 prior to the opening of the Gjøvik Line in 1902. In 1971, the station became fully automatized and remote controlled.

Nittedal is a municipality and city in Akershus county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Romerike. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Rotnes. The parish of Nitedal was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt).

Nittedal Station (Norwegian: Nittedal stasjon) is a railway station on the Gjøvik Line at Rotnes in Akershus county, Norway. The station was opened in 1900 as a stop for passengers and freight two years ahead of the opening of the Gjøvik Line in 1902. In 1907 Nittedal was upgraded from a stop to a station staffed to expedite trains, passengers and freight. In the years in between a station building was also erected that had been drawn by architect Paul Armin Due. In 1971, after almost 70 years of being in service, the station became fully automated and remotely controlled. Today the station is unstaffed and furnished with ticket machines. Its elevation is 235.8 m AMSL and the distance to Oslo Central Station is 24.26 km. The main building now serves as a café. The station is reportedly haunted, and it was featured on the Norwegian television show "Åndenes Makt", a show about paranormal activities.

Grønvoll is a village in the municipality of Nittedal, Norway. Its population (2005) is 1,530.

Løstad is a village in the municipality of Nittedal, Norway. Its population (2005) is 1,540.

Varingskollen is a mountain of Akershus, Norway. It is situated above the village of Hakadal in Nittedal. it is the site of the Varingskollen ski resort located 25 minutes by train from Oslo on the Gjøvik Line with exit at the Hakadal Station. Varingskollen ski resort consists of six slopes in total, with a FIS approved Giant Slalom / Slalom course called Olaløypa (black course) as the main feature. This slope is 1250 metres long, descending 350 metres from the Varingskollen summit to the valley below. In addition, there are two red courses (Kariløypa - 1600 metres, Terrengparken - 400 metres), one blue course (Hakkebakken, 500 metres), and two green courses (Trollparken - 500 metres, Barnebakken - 100 metres). Varingskollen ski resort has three cafeterias, slopes for cross country skiing and ski rental possibilities. In the summer, the mountain is used for mountain biking, hiking and wildlife spotting.

Rotnes is the administrative centre of Nittedal municipality, Norway. Its population (2010) is 20 939. It is located by the Norwegian National Road 4.

Burås, also called Buraas, is a village in Akershus, Norway.

Nedre Romerike is the lower (southern) part of the Romerike traditional district in Akershus, Norway. It consists of the municipalities Lillestrøm, Lørenskog, Nittedal, Rælingen and Aurskog-Høland. It make up the area served by Nedre Romerike District Court, based in Lillestrøm. The upper (northern) half of Romerike is known as Øvre Romerike.

The battle at Hakadal was the first battle in Snorre Sturlasson's narration of Harald Fairhair's unification of Norway. Heimskringla tells of how when king Halfdan the Black of Vestfold died his son Harald was still only a child of ten. The kings of the surrounding countries quickly attempted to take advantage of the perceived weakness of the child king. While several kings from Oppland were gathering forces in the north, king Gandalf Alfgeirsson of Alfheimr was the first to strike. He split his army in two, one force led by his son Hake was to advance on land, while the other, led by Gandalv, was to cross the sea and attack the Vestfold army from the rear. On hearing of the enemy army approaching king Harald's regent, his uncle Guttorm, quickly raised an army and marched towards the army advancing overland. Guttorm destroyed the enemy army, and Hake fell there. The valley where they fought has later taken his name. After the battle Guttorm turned his forces to face the army of king Gandalv that had landed in Vestfold, further south. Guttorm forced Gandalv to retreat, and destroyed most of his army.
