Camarillo ( KAM-ə-REE-oh) is a city in Ventura County in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 70,741, an increase of 5,540 from the 65,201 counted in the 2010 Census. Camarillo is named for brothers Juan and Adolfo Camarillo, prominent Californios who owned Rancho Calleguas and founded the city. California State University, Channel Islands is housed on the former grounds of the Camarillo State Hospital.

Camarillo station is a passenger train station in Camarillo, California. Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner between San Luis Obispo and San Diego and Metrolink's Ventura County Line between Los Angeles Union Station and Ventura–East station stop here. It is located at the foot of Ventura Boulevard at the intersection of Lewis Road, and is underneath the US Highway 101 overpass. A lengthy pedestrian overcrossing must be used to transfer between the platforms so a shorter tunnel route is planned. The first Camarillo depot was at this same location until Southern Pacific ended passenger service. Camarillo station is served by ten Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains (five in each direction) every day, with departures evenly spaced throughout the day. Six Metrolink Ventura County Line trains (three in each direction) serve the station each weekday, running during peak hours in the peak direction of travel. On weekends, four Metrolink Ventura County Line trains (two in each direction) serve the station. Metrolink passengers also have access to all Pacific Surfliner trains through a codesharing arrangement with Amtrak.

St. John's Hospital Camarillo is a hospital in Camarillo, California, United States, operated by Dignity Health, along with its sister hospital St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, California.The hospital was founded in 1974 by a group of community leaders and physicians. In addition to its 81 acute-care beds, St. John's Hospital Camarillo has a 99-bed extended care unit and the only hyperbaric medicine unit in western Ventura County.Darren Lee serves as president and CEO of both St. John's Hospital Camarillo and St. John's Regional Medical Center.

Rancho Las Posas was a 26,623-acre (107.74 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Ventura County, California. It was given in 1834 by Governor José Figueroa to José Antonio Carrillo.

The City of Camarillo Public Library serves the residents of Camarillo, California. Camarillo Public Library will issue a free library card to any applicant with acceptable identification, as provided in the library's registration policy. Camarillo Public Library is located at 4101 Las Posas Road, on the corner of Las Posas Road and Fieldgate Drive.

Rancho Campana High School is an 800 student comprehensive academy high school for grades 9-12 that was built in 2015. The high school is located in Camarillo, California which is part of the Oxnard Union High School District. The 28-acre site (11 ha) provides public education for the Camarillo and Somis communities. The high school divides students in their freshmen year amongst three academies: Academy of Engineering, Academy of Arts and Engineering and Entertainment, and Academy of Medical Sciences. Each academy provides specific course requirements, field trips, educational and job shadow opportunities. Due to a limited amount of space on the new campus as well as a limited amount of resources and technology, each year the two-hundred incoming freshmen are determined through a lottery.The first graduating class was in June 2018 when 130 students in the Senior Class graduated.The school received funding in 2018 for updating facilities through a local Bond Measure. The school also received funds to expand the school's student capacity with 9 relocatable classrooms.

Camarillo Ranch House, also known as Rancho Calleguas and Adolfo Camarillo House, is a Queen Anne-style Victorian house in Camarillo, California. Built in 1892, the 6,000-square-foot (560 m2) house was designed by architects Herman Anlauf and Franklin Ward. Adolfo Camarillo operated the ranch for 78 years, changing the operations from mostly cattle to crops. He was a leading innovator, growing lima beans, barley, corn, alfalfa, walnuts, and citrus and eucalyptus trees. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

Rancho Calleguas was a 9,998-acre (40.46 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Ventura County, California given in 1837 by Governor Juan Alvarado to José Pedro Ruiz.The grant was south of Rancho Las Posas, east of Rancho El Rio de Santa Clara o la Colonia, north of the Rancho Guadalasca, and west of Rancho El Conejo. It encompassed the Santa Rosa Valley and present-day Camarillo.

St. John's Seminary is a Private Catholic graduate seminary in Camarillo, California.

Adolfo Camarillo High School (ACHS) is a public high school in Camarillo, California established 1956. The school is part of the Oxnard Union High School District and serves students in grades 9–12 in east Camarillo, Somis, and the Santa Rosa Valley. ACHS is named for Adolfo Camarillo, a prominent Californio ranchero and founder of the city which bears his name; he donated part of Rancho Calleguas for the high school.

Padre Serra Parish is a large Catholic church in Camarillo, California, established in 1988 after the beatification of Father Junípero Serra. For its first seven years, Padre Serra's parish celebrated Mass in a room at St. John's Seminary. In July 1995, a modern 16,300-square foot (1,467 m2) church, without pews or kneelers, and with a centrally located altar, was opened. As of 1995, the parish had more than 5,000 members. In 2007, Padre Serra Church became the home parish of the first married Catholic priest in the Los Angeles Archdiocese.

The Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) provides fire protection and emergency response services for the unincorporated areas of Ventura County, California, and for seven other cities within the county. Together, these areas compose the Ventura County Fire Protection District in the state of California, USA. The Ventura County Board of Supervisors is the fire district's board of directors. These five elected supervisors appoint the fire chief, and task him with providing fire protection services for the district. In addition to the unincorporated areas of Ventura County, the department currently provides the following cities with service: Camarillo, Moorpark, Ojai, Port Hueneme, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, and Thousand Oaks.
