Minto is a village and parish in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland in Roxburghshire county. It is located 6 miles (10 kilometres) north-east of Hawick, north of the River Teviot.

Craigmount School was a private school originally for boys, but for most of its history for girls, in Edinburgh. It opened in 1874 and closed in 1966.

Spittal-on-Rule is a farm in the council area of Scottish Borders in Scotland. As the name suggests it is situated on the river Rule Water, and the Spittal-on-Rule bridge crosses the Rule. More specifically, it lies where Rule Water meets the River Teviot.

Fatlips Castle is a peel tower in Roxburghshire, in the Scottish Borders. Situated at the top of Minto Crags, above the River Teviot, it was built in the 16th century by the Turnbulls of Barnhills, notorious Border reivers, and owners of nearby Barnhills Tower and farm. In 1545, during the War of the Rough Wooing, the Earl of Hertford burned "Mantoncrake", or Mynto Crag.

Barnhills Tower was a 16th century tower house about 4.5 miles (7.2 km) west of Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders, Scotland, north of the River Teviot, on the high left bank of the Craigend Burn.

The Rule Water is a river in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland, and a tributary of the River Teviot. The Rule Water rises in Wauchope Forest and passes Hobkirk, Bonchester Bridge, Hallrule, Abbotrule, and Bedrule until it joins the River Teviot at Spittal-on-Rule. Bedrule Castle is a ruined 13th-century castle in the Rule Valley, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. The castle was built in the 13th century by the Comyn family. During King Edward I of England’s invasion of Scotland in 1298, he stayed at the castle. On the forfeiting of the Comyn lands in 1306, the castle passed to the Douglas family. The Douglases made the Turnbull family tenants.

Bedrule (Scottish Gaelic: Ruail Bheathaig) is a hamlet and civil parish in the historic county of Roxburghshire in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. The hamlet lies on the east side of the Rule Water, which gave the village its name, about 4 miles west of Jedburgh. It lies south of the A698 between Hawick and Jedburgh. Other local place-names based on the river include Hallrule, Abbotrule, Ruletownhead and Spittal-on-Rule. Larger settlements include Bonchester Bridge and Denholm, as well as Hawick and Jedburgh. The Rule Water forms the western boundary of the parish, separating it from Hobkirk and Cavers. The north-west boundary is on or near the Teviot, beyond which lies Ancrum. The parish is bounded on the east and south by Jedburgh parish. Bedrule lies on the path of the Borders Abbeys Way, a long-distance trail. The civil parish has a population of 185 (in 2011).

Old Belses is a village by the Ale Water, in the Parish of Ancrum, in the Scottish Borders of Scotland, in the historic county of Roxburghshire. Other placenames relating to Belses include Belses Mill, Belses Muir and New Belses. Belses was a station on the Waverley Line.

Belses is a village on the Ale Water, in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland the former Selkirkshire. It is situated close to Old Belses, and lies south of St Boswells, west of Jedburgh, north of Hawick, and east of Selkirk. Belses was the site of a railway station on the former Waverley Line, a double track railway which linked Edinburgh with Carlisle. The NBR (North British Railway) closed in 1969.

Fulton Tower is a ruined 16th century tower house, about 4.5 miles (7.2 km) south west of Jedburgh, Scottish Borders, Scotland, and about 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Bedrule, east of the Rule Water. Alternatively the castle may be called Rule Water or Fulton Farm.
