Schemmerhofen (German pronunciation: [ˈʃɛmɐhoːfn̩]) is a municipality ("Gemeinde") in the district ("Landkreis") of Biberach in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Schemmerhofen is located in the Upper Swabia region ("Oberschwaben" or "Schwäbisches Oberland") of Baden-Württemberg.

Schloss Warthausen (Warthausen palace) is a schloss (large country palace) near the town of Warthausen in Germany. It has been home to several famous historical personages, including authors Christoph Martin Wieland and Sophie von La Roche, and painter Johann Heinrich Tischbein. Biberach an der Riß (Swabian: Bibra), often referred to as simply Biberach (German pronunciation: [ˈbiːbəʁax] ), is a town in southern Germany. It is the capital of Biberach district, in the Upper Swabia region of the German state (Land) of Baden-Württemberg. It is called Biberach an der Riß after the small river Riß which flows through the city to distinguish it from the other towns of similar names.

St. Martin's Church, Biberach is a church in Biberach an der Riß, in the Upper Swabia region of the German state (Land) of Baden-Württemberg. It is the oldest still active Simultaneum or shared church in Germany. Its two congregations form part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart and the Lutheran Evangelical Regional Church in Württemberg, respectively.

The Hugo-Häring-Haus (also called "Hugo-Häring-houses") is one of two houses built by Hugo Häring in 1950 in Biberach an der Riß. With the support of Kreissparkasse Biberach, it became a municipal property, is a registered cultural monument of the modern age, and is being restored by the Hugo-Häring-Gesellschaft e.V. supervised.

The Museum Biberach is a museum with several sections in Biberach an der Riss in Upper Swabia. The museum resides in one of the oldest and biggest buildings from the 16th century in this city. It belongs to the considerable collections in Baden-Württemberg. On 2.800 square meters it presents archaeology, history, art and natural history. Models, all sorts of installations, and computer animations explain the origin and settlement of the Upper Swabian landscape. The collections reveal the life and the terms of employment of the people, such as the notable weaving in the town since the 17th century. Prominent pieces of art from former times until the present enrich the knowledge of the visitors.The art-historical division gathers key works of art of the Upper Swabian region and the important works of the German expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner.

Rotbach is a river of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is a left tributary of the Riss; the confluence is in the town of Biberach an der Riss.

The Wieland-Gymnasium is one of two Gymnasien (high schools) in Biberach an der Riß, Baden-Württemberg, Germany (along with Pestalozzi-Gymnasium). It is named after the poet Christoph Martin Wieland, who lived and worked in Biberach. The school is popular for introducing the Biberacher Modell, a model in which pupils begin to learn Latin at an early age, which has been adopted by many schools in Baden-Württemberg. At the moment (May 2008) the school counts 1029 pupils and 80 teachers. Since 2006, some new buildings, including a cafeteria, have been built on the school grounds to make the school ready for full-time classes.

The Pestalozzi-Gymnasium in Biberach an der Riß, Baden-Württemberg, Germany is a Gymnasium (high school) founded in 1860. In 2005 it comprised 1,250 students and 100 teachers. The school was founded by Fortunée Niederer, a student of Swiss educationalist Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, and was originally named the Paritätische private Töchterschule ("Equal participation private daughters' school"). Originally an all-girls school, in 1970 it was renamed "Pestalozzi-Gymnasium" at the same time it became co-educational. Newcastle United F.C. reserve goalkeeper Loris Karius attended Pestalozzi-Gymnasium Biberach until his move to England in 2009.

The Battle of Biberach was fought on 2 October 1796 between a French Republican army led by Jean Victor Marie Moreau and a Habsburg Austrian army led by Maximilian Anton Karl, Count Baillet de Latour. The French army paused in its retreat toward the Rhine River to savage the pursuing Austrians. The action occurred during the War of the First Coalition, part of the French Revolutionary Wars. Biberach an der Riss is located 35 kilometres (22 mi) southwest of Ulm. During the summer of 1796, the two armies of Jean-Baptiste Jourdan in the north and Moreau in the south advanced into southern Germany. They were opposed by Archduke Charles, Duke of Teschen who oversaw two Austrian armies under Latour and Wilhelm von Wartensleben. At the Battle of Amberg on 24 August 1796, Charles and Wartensleben combined to throw superior strength against Jourdan while Moreau was separated from his colleague. After Jourdan was beaten again at the Battle of Würzburg on 3 September, Moreau was forced to abandon southern Bavaria to avoid being cut off from France. As the outnumbered Latour doggedly followed the French retreat, Moreau lashed out at him at Biberach. For a loss of 500 soldiers killed and wounded, Moreau's troops inflicted 300 killed and wounded on their enemies and captured 4,000 prisoners, 18 artillery pieces, and two colors. After the engagement, Latour followed the French at a more respectful distance. The next action was the Battle of Emmendingen on 19 October.

The Biberach University of Applied Sciences - Hochschule Biberach - emerged in 1971 out of the public engineering school for architecture, which had been founded in 1964. The study Business Administration in Civil Engineering / Real Estate Marketing was added in 1978. The course in Business Administration at the University of Applied Science Biberach was the first course in this area in Germany. In 1991 the courses in Civil Engineering and Project Management were established. In 1998 the course in Building Services Engineering was added. In winter semester 2006/2007 the course in Pharmaceutic Bioengineering was established, which was unique in Germany at the time. This course is supported by the company Boehringer Ingelheim. In summer semester 2008, the course in Energy Systems was established in cooperation with University of Applied Sciences Ulm. This cooperation extended to the masters course. Since March 2011 a post-grad colloquium is possible on this course.
