Willoughby Parish, Cumberland is one of the 57 parishes of Cumberland County, New South Wales, Australia, a cadastral unit for use on land titles. The suburb of Willoughby and the City of Willoughby LGA are in a similar area. Willoughby Parish roughly covers the peninsula formed by the Lane Cove River, Sydney Harbour and Middle Harbour on three sides, with the northern boundary of the Parish roughly across the narrowest point of the peninsula (where the Lane Cove River comes closest to Middle Harbour). It roughly correlates with the region traditionally known as the "Lower North Shore", although that term is also sometimes used in a wider sense that includes land in neighbouring Hunters Hill Parish.

It is a co-educational high school operated by the New South Wales Department of Education with students from years 7 to 12. The school was established in 1961 and is one of the few state schools in NSW that has no school uniform.

Sydney Harbour was protected by coastal batteries and other fixed defences from the early 19th century until the 1960s. These defences were constructed to protect the Australian city of Sydney from attack by enemy warships and submarines.

The Lower Georges Heights Commanding Position is located in the urban locality of Georges Heights in the suburb of Mosman, on the shores of Port Jackson, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The Lower Georges Heights Commanding Position was constructed and designed to stop enemy ships from entering into Sydney Harbour, and worked in conjunction with several others forts located within close proximity.

The Georges Head Battery, also called the Georges Head Military Fortifications, is a heritage-listed former military fortification located on the Georges Head on Chowder Bay Road, Georges Heights, New South Wales, Australia.The site consists of the original battery and barracks, designed by Colonial Architect James Barnet, located at the end of Suakin Drive, Georges Heights, two later batteries located adjacent to the corner of Middle Head Road and Best Avenue, Georges Heights, and the Beehive (or Lower) Casemate adjacent to the Armoured (or Upper) Casemate in Chowder Bay Road. The Georges Head Battery is one of three forts in the area that were built for the purpose of defending the outer harbour. The other two forts are located at Middle Head and Bradleys Head, Mosman. The fort became a command post in the 1890s for the coordination of all of Sydney's harbour defences. It was decommissioned in 2002 and part of the land is managed by the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, with other parts managed by the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service as part of the Sydney Harbour National Park. The property is owned by Office of Environment & Heritage. The site was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

The Mosman bomb hoax took place in the Lower North Shore Sydney suburb of Mosman, New South Wales, Australia on 3 August 2011. An apparent collar bomb was placed around the neck of 18-year-old student Madeleine Pulver by a balaclava-clad home intruder. A note attached to the device stated that any attempt to alert law enforcement would "trigger an immediate BRIAN DOUGLAS WELLS event". Brian Wells was a pizza delivery driver who was killed in a bank robbery involving a collar bomb in 2003.

Clifton Gardens features an affluent residential area and is home to several beaches and wharves on Sydney Harbour. Clifton Gardens is also a popular fishing spot in summer. Species like the yellowtail kingfish, bonito and Australian salmon are caught frequently during summer months. In winter trevally can be caught quite regularly.

Established in 1925 by Miss Grace Lawrance (who was an alumna of Wenona) and named after the Queenwood Ladies' College in East Sussex, Queenwood has a non-selective enrolment policy and currently caters for approximately 1,000 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The Mosman Preparatory School, officially the Mosman Church of England Preparatory School and commonly abbreviated as Mosman Prep, is a dual-campus independent Anglican single-sex primary day school for boys, located on the Lower North Shore and the Northern Beaches of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The school was established in 1904 and is based on the UK preparatory school system. The school provides a religious and general education to boys from Year K to Year 6 across two campuses, located in Mosman and in Terrey Hills.
