Diesse

Plateau de Diesse (French pronunciation: [plato də djɛs]) is a municipality in the Jura bernois administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland, located in the French-speaking Bernese Jura (Jura Bernois). On 1 January 2014 the former municipalities of Diesse, Lamboing and Prêles merged into the municipality of Plateau de Diesse.

Prêles (French pronunciation: [pʁɛl]; German name: Prägelz) is a former municipality in the Jura bernois administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland, located in the French-speaking Bernese Jura (Jura Bernois). The proposed merger of the municipalities of Diesse, Lamboing, Nods and Prêles into the new municipality of Le Plateau de Diesse was rejected by voters. However, on 1 January 2014 the former municipalities of Prêles, Diesse and Lamboing merged into the new municipality of Plateau de Diesse.

Lamboing (French pronunciation: [lɑ̃bwɛ̃]) is a municipality in the Jura bernois administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland, located in the French-speaking Bernese Jura (Jura Bernois). The proposed merger of the municipalities of Diesse, Lamboing, Nods and Prêles into the new municipality of Le Plateau de Diesse was rejected by voters. Ligerz (French: Gléresse) is a municipality in the Biel/Bienne administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Ligerz railway station (German: Bahnhof Ligerz, French: Gare de Gléresse) is a railway station in the municipality of Ligerz, in the Swiss canton of Bern. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Jura Foot line of Swiss Federal Railways. The station will be closed in December 2024 as part of the building of the Ligerz Tunnel, scheduled to open in 2029. It is located next to Ligerz (Talstation), the lower station of the funicular Vinifuni Ligerz–Prêles, and Ligerz (Schiff), the landing stage for passenger ships of Lake Biel.

Twann railway station (German: Bahnhof Twann) is a railway station in the municipality of Twann-Tüscherz, in the Swiss canton of Bern. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Jura Foot line of Swiss Federal Railways.

Twann (French: Douanne [dwan]) was a municipality in the district of Nidau in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. On 1 January 2010 the municipalities of Tüscherz-Alfermée and Twann merged into the municipality of Twann-Tüscherz.

St. Peter's Island (French: Île Saint-Pierre; German: Sankt Petersinsel) is a peninsula and former island situated in Lake Biel in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. It has a length of about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) and a maximum width of 800 metres (2,600 ft). Its highest point is 474 metres (1,555 ft) above sea level or 45 metres (148 ft) above lake level (429 m [ 1,407 ft ]). It was formed in the last Ice Age (see Pleistocene), when the Rhône Glacier reached as far as the Jura mountains. It is a promontory of the Jolimont, above Erlach. Politically the island is split between the municipalities of Erlach and Twann-Tüscherz, the largest part belonging to the latter municipality. In the late nineteenth century, following the engineering works of the Jura water correction, the water-level of the three lakes of the Seeland have dropped enough to clear the until-then hidden isthmus, linking Cerlier to St. Peter's Island, which has ever since become a peninsula, although separated from the shore by a canal. Monks of the Cluniac order were the first inhabitants of the island, and built a monastery here in 1127. Before his expulsion, Jean-Jacques Rousseau spent two months on the island in 1765, calling it the "happiest time of his life".

La Neuveville (French: [la nœvvil]; German: Neuenstadt) is a municipality in the Jura bernois administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland, located in the French-speaking Bernese Jura (Jura Bernois).

Lake Biel or Lake Bienne (German: Bielersee; French: Lac de Bienne [lak də bjɛn]) is a lake in western Switzerland. Together with Lake Morat and Lake Neuchâtel, it is one of the three large lakes in the Jura region of Switzerland. It lies on the language boundary between German and French speaking areas.

Lignières is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel.
