Krška Vas, Brežice

Velike Malence (pronounced [ˈʋeːlikɛ ˈmaːlɛntsɛ]) is a village on the right bank of the Krka River, close to its confluence with the Sava, in the Municipality of Brežice in eastern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola. It is now included in the Lower Sava Statistical Region.

The seat of the municipality is the town of Brežice. The area was traditionally divided between Lower Styria (territory on the left bank of the Sava River) and Lower Carniola (territory on the right bank of the Sava River). The entire municipality is now included in the Lower Sava Statistical Region.

Mrzlava Vas (pronounced [məɾˈzlaːʋa ˈʋaːs]; Slovene: Mrzlava vas) is a village in the hills above the right bank of the Krka River, in the Municipality of Brežice in eastern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola. It is now included in the Lower Sava Statistical Region.The village church, built on an isolated location south of the main settlement, is dedicated to the Holy Spirit and belongs to the Parish of Čatež ob Savi. It was originally a medieval building, but was extensively rebuilt in 1864 when the belfry was also added.Between 1920 and 1960 and in 1986 a number urn burials dating to the 1st and 2nd centuries were found and excavated in the area. Two Roman coins dating from the rule of Galba and Trajan were also found.

Dolenje Skopice (pronounced [dɔˈleːnjɛ skɔˈpiːtsɛ]; German: Unterskopiz) is a village on the right bank of the Sava River in the Municipality of Brežice in eastern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Lower Sava Statistical Region.Numerous finds in the ploughed fields around the village, mostly of dressed stone, imbrices, and tegulae, show that the area was settled in Roman times.

Brežice Castle (Slovene: Grad Brežice, German: Schloss Rann) is a 16th-century castle in the town of Brežice, in southeastern Slovenia, at the street address Cesta prvih borcev 1.As with the town, the castle's name derives from the diminutive plural of the Slovene word breg, 'riverbank', in reference to the nearby Sava and Krka rivers.

Stankovo (pronounced [stanˈkɔːʋo] or [stanˈkoːʋo]) is a village in the hills south of Velike Malence in the Municipality of Brežice in eastern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Lower Sava Statistical Region.The local church is dedicated to Saint Peter and belongs to the Parish of Čatež ob Savi. It dates to the 17th century with a mid-19th-century belfry.

Brežice (pronounced [ˈbɾèːʒitsɛ] (listen); German: Rann [ʁan]) is a town in eastern Slovenia in the Lower Sava Valley, near the Croatian border. It is the seat of the Municipality of Brežice. It lies in the center of the Brežice Plain (Slovene: Brežiško polje), which is part of the larger Krka Flat (Slovene: Krška ravan). The area was traditionally divided between Lower Styria (territory on the left bank of the Sava River) and Lower Carniola (territory on the right bank of the Sava River). The entire municipality is now included in the Lower Sava Statistical Region.Brežice prides itself on a rich historical and cultural heritage. The Lower Sava Valley Museum (Slovene: Posavski muzej Brežice), housed in Brežice Castle, contains archaeological and ethnological exhibits, exhibits on the Croatian and Slovenian peasant revolt, and a modern history collection. It is one of the largest regional museums in the country. A more recent landmark addition to the town is its water tower, as well as the double arches of the 527 m long iron bridge, which spans the Sava and Krka rivers.

The Brežice Water Tower was built in 1914, together with a city sewage system and electrification. It used to serve as the water supply for Brežice until the new water house was built below Šentvid Hill above the town. It is 46 meters (151 ft) high and it is one of the most prominent buildings in town. Today the water tower houses a pub.

The Brežice Grammar School (Slovene: Gimnazija Brežice) is located in Brežice, Slovenia. It is a coeducational nondenominational state secondary general education school for students aged between 15 and 19. It prepares them for university, which they can enroll at after passing the matura (leaving exam).

Gorenje Skopice (pronounced [ɡɔˈɾeːnjɛ skɔˈpiːtsɛ]; German: Oberskopiz) is a settlement on the right bank of the Sava River in the Municipality of Brežice in eastern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola. It is now included in the Lower Sava Statistical Region.In the hamlet of Pečina in the settlement, remains of a small Roman Villa rustica on the Roman road from Emona to Siscia with a 1st-century burial ground have been found. Archaeological evidence shows that the site was also occupied in the 4th and 5th centuries.
