Hollywood and Vine

Hollywood is a neighborhood in the central region of Los Angeles, California. Its name has come to be a shorthand reference for the U.S. film industry and the people associated with it. Many of its studios such as Columbia Pictures, Disney, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., and Universal Pictures were founded there; Paramount still has its studios there. Hollywood was incorporated as a municipality in 1903. It was consolidated with the city of Los Angeles in 1910 and soon thereafter a prominent film industry emerged, eventually becoming the most recognizable in the world.

Hollywood/Vine station is an underground rapid transit (known locally as a subway) station on the B Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located under below the iconic Hollywood and Vine intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, after which the station is named, in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Hollywood. The central station of the three subway stops in Hollywood, within walking distance of many important Hollywood landmarks including the Capitol Records Building, CBS Columbia Square, The Fonda Theatre, Hollywood Palladium and Pantages Theatre. The station is also below the Hollywood Walk of Fame and close to the Gower Gulch.

Hollywood Memorial Church, also known as Hollywood Methodist Episcopal Church, was a church and community landmark located at the southeast corner of Prospect Avenue (now Hollywood Boulevard) and Weyse Avenue (now Vine Street) in what is now Hollywood, California. It was built by the German Methodist Church on land owned by Daeida Beveridge in 1903, and featured a four-story steeple and Mission Revival architecture. In 1923, it was bought for $125,000 by A.Z. Taft Jr., who tore it down and built the Taft Building in its place.

Vine Theatre, formerly Admiral Theatre and Rector’s Admiral Theatre, also known as Vine Street Theatre, Dolby @ Vine, and Dolby Screening Room Hollywood Vine, is a historic movie theater located at 6321 W. Hollywood Boulevard, near the intersection of Hollywood and Vine, in Hollywood, California.

The Laemmle Building was a historic building located at 6301 W. Hollywood Boulevard, on the corner of Hollywood and Vine, in Hollywood, California. Built in 1932, it was destroyed in a fire in 2008.

Equitable Building of Hollywood, also known as the Bank of Hollywood Building, was the second high-rise office building built at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine in Hollywood, California. It is rendered in a late Gothic Revival and Art Deco style and is Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #1088. It is also a contributor to the Hollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment District on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Hollywood Post Office, also known as Old Post Office, was a historic building located at 1717 N. Vine Street in Hollywood, California.

Hollywood Plaza Hotel was a 200-room hotel located at 1633–37 North Vine Street in Hollywood, California, just south of the famous intersection of Hollywood and Vine. It is in close proximity to the Capitol Records Building. Opened on October 15, 1925, it was a popular venue for film, radio, and theatre stars of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. It was converted into a retirement home in the 1970s.

The Frolic Room is a historic bar located at 6245 W. Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California, near Hollywood and Vine and next to the Pantages Theater. It is known for its neon sign, its history with Hollywood, and its association with the Black Dahlia.

Herman Building is a historic one-story building located at 1632 N. Vine Street in Hollywood, California.
