Market Weston

Weston Fen is a 49.7-hectare (123-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Hopton in Suffolk. It is part of the Waveney and Little Ouse Valley Fens Special Areas of Conservation, and an area of 37 hectares is managed as a nature reserve called Market Weston Fen by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust. This spring-fed valley fen has a high and stable water table, and as a result it has a rich and varied flora. The dominant plants in the central fen area are saw sedge, the reed Phragmites australis and blunt-flowered rush. Other habitats include tall fen grassland, heath and a stream. There are many dragonflies and damselflies. There is access from Fen Street. Parking for 3-4 cars on verge immediately after the signposted public footpath and entrance to fen.

Hepworth is a village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. It is situated on the Suffolk/Norfolk border and nearby settlements include the villages of Stanton, Barningham and Wattisfield. For transport there is the A143 road nearby. Hepworth has a place of worship. The population at the 2021 Census was 570. Hepworth has two hamlets to the North and South of the village visible on Joseph Hodskinson's Map 1783, suitably named North Common, Hepworth and Hepworth Common to the South.

Royal Air Force Knettishall or more simply RAF Knettishall is a former Royal Air Force station in Suffolk, England. During the Second World War, it was numbered as Station 136 by the United States Army Air Forces while home to the 388th Bombardment Group and its four squadrons consisting of: 560th Bombardment Squadron 561st Bombardment Squadron 562nd Bombardment Squadron 563rd Bombardment Squadron Part of the Eighth Air Force between 1943 and 1945. Royal Air Force Knettishall was declared surplus to RAF requirements after the war's end, it was closed in 1957. Most of the runways and buildings were demolished by the late 1960s, although some were still standing as ruins by 2000. The airfield itself remains in limited use by light general aviation aircraft to the present day.

Barningham is a village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk, England, about twelve miles north-east of Bury St Edmunds. According to Eilert Ekwall, the meaning of the village name is the homestead of Beorn's people. The Domesday Book records that Barningham had 35 households in 1086. It has a primary school, a pub called the Royal George, a shop with a post office, a church, a hairdresser's and a village hall. In the 2011 census, the population was recorded as being 956. The puritan Maurice Barrow, one of the richest men in 17th-century Suffolk, bought the manor and estate of Barningham in 1628 from the widow of Henry Mason. The pharmaceutical company Fisons, founded by James Fison and Lee Charters in the late 18th century, began as a flour mill and bakery in the village. The building has since been developed into terraced homes.

Wattisfield is a village and civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England. Located on the A143 around seven miles south-west of Diss, in 2005 its population was 440, increasing to 475 at the 2011 Census. The village name in Domesday Book is Watesfelda, derived from the Old English meaning Wastel's clearing. It is situated in the ancient hundred of Blackbourne. Its Grade II* listed medieval church is dedicated to St. Margaret. Due to the abundant source of mica clay the village has a tradition of pottery making going back to the Bronze Age and there is still a commercial pottery called Watsons which has a factory shop open to the public. A Romano-British or Anglo-Saxon cemetery was found in 1934 by Basil Brown, who later rose to fame for his discoveries at Sutton Hoo. The village once had three licensed pubs but now it has none. The Royal Oak was part of Whitbread's pub estate but closed in 1968 and was sold on as a private dwelling, which it remains today directly opposite the church of St. Margaret's. The white post outside the building is a vestige of the old pub sign which used to hang from it. The White Swan was built in the 17th century and closed early 20th century; the building remains as a farmhouse to the north of the A143. The Black Swan closed in the 1920s but the building remains as a private dwelling on the south side of the A143 near its junction with Calkewood Lane. A post-Medieval post mill stood near Manning's Lane; it was demolished circa 1965. The Post Office and general store closed in 1997 and the building is currently occupied by a ladies hair stylist. A stream which rises to the south of the village is called The Grundle and is one of the tributaries of the Little Ouse river which eventually joins the Great Ouse and discharges into The Wash.

Royal Air Force Shepherds Grove or more simply RAF Shepherds Grove is a former Royal Air Force station located in Suffolk, active from 1943–44 to 1966. Shepherds Grove was host to units of the United States Army Air Forces, Eighth Air Force. During the Cold war it was also one of the 20 Thor IRBM missile bases in the UK, as part of Project Emily.

Upthorpe Mill is a Grade II* listed post mill and scheduled monument at Stanton, Suffolk, England, which has been restored to working order.

Stanton is a village and civil parish in the West Suffolk district of Suffolk in eastern England, about nine miles north-east of Bury St Edmunds, on the A143 road to Diss. Close to the village lies the former WW II airfield RAF Shepherds Grove, where American forces were based. One of the main landmarks in the village is the fine restored windmill at Upthorpe Farm, to the east of the village. The name " Stanton" means 'a homestead on stony ground'.

Coney Weston is a village and civil parish in Suffolk, England, within the West Suffolk district. It is a primarily rural residential town that has dormitory town status. It is 5 miles (8 km) north of Ixworth and 12 miles (19 km) from Bury St Edmunds

St John the Baptist's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Stanton, Suffolk, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. Only the tower is intact, the body of the church being roofless. The remains of the church stand to the west of the village.

Stanton Woods is a 66.1-hectare (163-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Stanton in Suffolk. The site consists of several ancient coppice with standards woods, some of which are on boulder clay and others on drier, acid soil. There are also mown rides and small clearings. The Grundle is a linear wooded gorge. Some areas are closed to the public, but others have roads and footpaths running through them.
