Riverwood is a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Riverwood is located 19 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district and is part of the St George area. Riverwood is split between the local government areas of the Georges River Council and the City of Canterbury-Bankstown.

Riverwood railway station is located on the East Hills line, serving the Sydney suburb of Riverwood. It is served by Sydney Trains T8 Airport & South line services.

2NBC FM is a community radio station based in Kogarah, Sydney. Its broadcast area is the suburbs in the south and inner west of Sydney covering the area known as St George. This includes the municipalities of Canterbury, Hurstville, Rockdale, Marrickville, and Kogarah. NBC FM is a volunteer-run organisation and is funded through listener support, grants and limited commercial sponsorship. The station celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2013.

Peakhurst is a suburb in Southern Sydney, or the St George Area, in the state of New South Wales, Australia 21 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district. Peakhurst is in the local government area of the Georges River Council. Peakhurst has a western border on Salt Pan Creek, on the Georges River. Peakhurst Heights is a separate suburb to the south, which is bordered by Boggywell Creek and Lime Kiln Bay, on the Georges River. Peakhurst Heights is sometimes still considered to be part of 'Peakhurst' by some residents of the area.

Punchbowl is a suburb south west of Sydney, 17 kilometres (11 mi) west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. At the 2016 census, Punchbowl had a population of 20,236.

Peakhurst High School also known as Georges River College Peakhurst Campus, is a Co-Ed middle school going from year 7 to 10. This school offers comprehensive education from years 7–10. Students who complete Year 10 at GRC Peakhurst Campus have an automatic place in GRC Oatley Campus (11–12).

Padstow, a suburb of local government area City of Canterbury-Bankstown , is located 21 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the state of New South Wales, Australia, and is a part of the South-western Sydney region. Padstow is a mostly residential suburb bounded on the north by Bankstown and on the east by Salt Pan Creek, which is a stream feeding into the Georges River. The M5 South Western Motorway traverses the northern end of the suburb, which is also the location of a number of light industrial facilities.

Narwee High School (abbreviation:NHS), known from 1958-1991 as Narwee Boys' High School (abbreviation:NBHS), is a former high school in the south-western Sydney suburb of Narwee, New South Wales, Australia. Narwee High School operated as a boys' high school from January 1958 until December 1990. However, due to declining enrolments, the school became co-educational in January 1991. This was not a saving grace however, and due to a continuing decline in student numbers, the school was declared surplus to the needs of the New South Wales Department of Education and Training and was officially closed in December 2001. The closure was associated with the reorganisation of high schools in the district, and the formation of the Georges River College whereby students from various local high schools feed into a senior college campus. On 5 November 2003, a major fire broke out on the top floor of a three-story building in the disused school causing extensive damage. There are currently plans to redevelop the site for a mixture of low and medium density private housing, with preservation of some open space for public use. In late 2005, demolition work commenced and was completed by March 2006.

Bankstown-Auburn Community Radio Inc (ACMA call sign CONNECT FM 100.9) is a community radio station broadcasting on 100.9 FM from Padstow, New South Wales. The licensed broadcast area covers Silverwater to Picnic Point, Villawood to Mount Lewis in Sydney, New South Wales. Programs are produced for the local community and include sports, music, talk back and local news.

The main street of Narwee is Broadarrow Road, which runs from King Georges Road in Beverly Hills to just past Bonds Road in Riverwood. Broadarrow Road is also the boundary line between the southern part of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown and the northern part of the Georges River Council areas.
