HNoMY Norge (in Norwegian, KS or K/S Norge) is the Royal Yacht of the King of Norway. One of only three remaining Royal Yachts in Europe, the ship's name Norge is Norwegian Bokmål for Norway. The Royal Yacht Norge was the Norwegian people's gift to King Haakon VII in 1947. The yacht is owned by the King but maintained and crewed by the Royal Norwegian Navy. Originally built in 1937 in the United Kingdom for Thomas Sopwith, she served in the Royal Navy as an armed yacht during the Second World War.

Oslo Commerce School (Norw. Oslo Handelsgymnasium) is a full-time public school in Oslo, Norway, specialising in the teaching of financial and business management. The school was founded in 1875 as Christiania Commerce School (Norw. Christiania Handelsgymnasium) with the goal of enabling young people "who had settled on a career in commerce or other practical vocations" to receive "a complete theoretical and practical education in commercial subjects as well as a higher education in other subjects."

The National Library of Norway (Norwegian: Nasjonalbiblioteket) was established in 1989. Its principal task is "to preserve the past for the future". The library is located both in Oslo and in Mo i Rana. The building in Oslo was restored and reopened in 2005. Prior to the existence of the National Library, the University Library of Oslo was assigned the tasks that normally fall to a national library. The Norwegian ISBN Agency, responsible for assigning ISBNs with prefix 82- and 978-82-, is part of the National Library of Norway. The National Library is also responsible for legal deposits made from publishers in Norway. All material is to be submitted free of charge. Aslak Sira Myhre is national librarian from November 2014.

The Thief is a luxury waterfront hotel located on Landgangen 1 on the islet of Tjuvholmen (Thief Islet) in Oslo, Norway, designed by the award-winning Mellbye Architects. The hotel opened on January 9, 2013, and is currently the only hotel designated as a Design Hotel in Norway. The Thief has 119 rooms and is a part of the Nordic Hotels & Resort chain owned by Forbes-billionaire Petter Stordalen. It is situated right next to the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, and thanks to a collaboration between the two, there is a large collection of contemporary art in the hotel. According to press reports, the hotel owned by Tjuvholmen KS had a price tag of 720 million NOK, giving each of the 119 rooms an average cost price of more than one million dollars.

Solli plass, pronounced /su:li/ or /suli/, /plas/ or /pɽas/, also called Lapsetorvet, is a square in Oslo, Norway, located southwest of Slottsparken and the Royal Palace. The square is elliptical in shape. In the southwest lies the National Library of Norway. Further east are several commercial buildings, and the headquarters of the Federation of Norwegian Commercial and Service Enterprises. In the northwest is found the former building of Oslo Lysverker. There are two public parks in the area, Hydroparken in the west and the tiny Sommerroparken in the north.The name stems from the property Solli, intact from 1716 to 1822. The last owner was Claus Pavels; after him the property was divided. The name Solli plass came to be in 1885.The square is served by a station on the Oslo Tramway—Solli—as well as buses.

In Operation Doomsday, the British 1st Airborne Division acted as a police and military force during the Allied occupation of Norway in May 1945, immediately after the victory in Europe during the Second World War. The division maintained law and order until the arrival of the remainder of Force 134, the occupation force. During its time in Norway, the division was tasked with supervising the surrender of the German forces in Norway, as well as preventing the sabotage of vital military and civilian facilities. The German Instrument of Surrender was delivered on 8 May to General Franz Böhme, the commander of all German forces stationed in Norway, and the 1st Airborne Division landed near Oslo and Stavanger between 9 and 11 May. The majority of the transport aircraft carrying the division landed safely, but three planes crashed with a number of fatalities. The division encountered little of the expected German resistance. Operational duties included welcoming back King Haakon VII of Norway, looking after Allied ex-prisoners of war, arresting war criminals and supervising the clearing of minefields. The division was also able to confirm the deaths of the British airborne troops that had taken part in Operation Freshman, an unsuccessful attempt to disrupt the German atomic weapons programme in November 1942. The division returned to Britain at the end of August and disbanded two months later.

Solli is a light rail/tram stop on the Oslo Tramway. Located at Solli plass, it was opened by Kristiania Elektriske Sporvei on 2 March 1894 as a part of the first stretch of what would become the Skøyen Line and the Frogner Line. It is served by line 13 and 12. It is a short walk to Inkognitogata (Platforms E and F) served by Line 11 and Lapsetorvet (Platforms C and D) served by bus line 21 (Helsfyr - Tjuvholmen). Solli is also served by bus lines 30 (Bygdøy - Nydalen) and 31 (Snarøya - Fornebu - Tonsenhagen - Grorud T) The National Library of Norway is located nearby, as are the headquarters of the Federation of Norwegian Commercial and Service Enterprises.

Sommerroparken (Sommerro Park), formerly known as Solliparken, is a small park between the streets of Sommerrogata and Henrik Ibsens Gate in the Frogner district of Oslo, Norway. It consists of a narrow grass-covered strip with park benches, ornaments, trees and bushes.

Bagatelle was a gourmet restaurant in the borough Frogner in Oslo, Norway. Until 2012, it was the only Norwegian restaurant that has held two stars in the Michelin guide. The restaurant lost one of its stars in 2008, though was restored as a two-star restaurant in March 2009. In the 2011 Michelin Guide Bagatelle had zero stars, but regained a star in 2012. The restaurant was formerly led by the chef Eyvind Hellstrøm, and is owned 95% by Christen Sveaas through the Norwegian company AS Holding. Bagatelle lies in Bygdøy Allé 3, and has been situated there since 1932. Originally, the building housed a restaurant run by the family Jacques under the name Jacques Bagatelle. Hellstrøm has run the restaurant in its current form since 1982, until he announced in December 2009 he would be leaving the restaurant due to a long term conflict with Sveaas.The menu is "Norwegian- French cuisine with an emphasis on Norwegian products and modern cooking techniques inspired by developments in France. Bagatelle served the Mauboussin Mega Sundae, which was listed as one of the most expensive ice creams in the world. Bagatelle closed in September 2014 after having operated at a loss for several years.

The 1943 Filipstad explosion was a fire in an ammunition store at Filipstad in Oslo on Sunday, 19 December 1943, during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany. The fire started during the unloading of ammunition from the transport ship Selma. The estimated amount of exploded ammunition varies from 800 to 1,200 tons. A large number of shells and grenades were tossed into the air and spread over the city. There were around 40 Norwegian casualties and around 75 Germans were killed, and 400 wounded. About 400 buildings were severely damaged.

Filipstad is a neighborhood in the Frogner borough in Oslo, Norway. It serves both as a major container port and ferry terminal for the city. The Oslo-Kiel ferry docks by the Hjortneskaia at Filipstad.

Tjuvholmen is a neighborhood in the borough Majorstuen in Oslo, Norway. It is located on a peninsula sticking out from Aker Brygge into the Oslofjord. It is located east of Filipstad and south of Vika. At the tip of the peninsula, next to the sculpture park, is an outdoor bathing area. The water leads out to the Inner Oslofjord. The area was bought by the shipyard Akers Mekaniske Verksted in the mid 19th century, who planned to build a drydock there. Instead, it was bought by the municipality in 1914, and transferred to the port authority in 1919. They built docks and artificial land, increasing the area from 5 to 33 hectares (12 to 82 acres). From the 1960s, Fred. Olsen & Co. rented the docks, and from 1971 Nylands Mekaniske Verkstad had a shipyard on the spot. Since 1982, the area has been used for office space, terminals, and warehouses. The Norwegian National Academy of Ballet was located there. Since 2005, the area has been sold to private developers, who are conducting an urban renewal with housing. The area has about 1,200 apartments since 2012. It is part of the Fjord City urban renewal program. This program has seen the opening of several art galleries, amongst them the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art and the Gallery Haaken. Tjuvholmen skulpturpark, next to the museum, was created by Renzo Piano.
