Leverington

Leverington Hall is a 17th-century country house in the parish of Leverington, Cambridgeshire, England. The house is Grade I listed and is privately owned.

Wisbech North railway station was a station serving the town of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. It was part of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway and was one of two stations serving the town. The other was Wisbech East on the line from March to Watlington also known as the Bramley Line. Wisbech North station was located just off Harecroft Road near a small housing estate called "Cricketers Way".

The first recorded match on the ground was in 1926, when Cambridgeshire played the Leicestershire Second XI in the Minor Counties Championship. Cambridgeshire have used the ground periodically and until 2009 the ground has hosted 58 Minor Counties Championship matches and 5 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.Harecroft Road has held a single first-class match when the East of England cricket team played the touring New Zealanders in 1927.The ground has also staged List-A matches, the first between Cambridgeshire and Oxfordshire in the 1967 Gillette Cup. Between 1967 and 1997, the ground played host to four List-A matches, the last of which saw Cambridgeshire play Hampshire in the 1997 NatWest Trophy.In local domestic cricket, the ground is the home venue of Wisbech Cricket Club who play in the East Anglian Premier League as of 2023.

Port of Wisbech is an inland port on the River Nene in Wisbech, Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom. It is mainly used for cargo and industrial purposes, with the southern part of the port housing a number of berths for yachts. Fenland District Council is the harbour authority for most of the River Nene; as well as operating the port and harbour, it provides a Port Health service to commercial ships, leisure craft and fishing vessels. The port runs a fortnightly service from Riga, Latvia importing from the Baltic.

Una Crown (1926/1927 – 12/13 January 2013) was an 86-year-old widow who was murdered in her bungalow in Wisbech in Cambridgeshire, England, in 2013. Her death was initially treated as unsuspicious but a post-mortem examination on her burned body concluded that she had died from stab wounds to her neck and chest. At least one suspect was arrested but no individuals were charged. The brutality of the case and admission of police failure in the murder investigation gave the case national attention. The case remains unsolved.

Wisbech Grammar School is an 11–18 mixed, Church of England, private day school and sixth form in Wisbech, Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire, England. Founded by the Guild of the Holy Trinity in 1379, it is one of the oldest schools in the country.Chartered by Edward VI in 1549 as a grammar school for boys, for much of its history it offered a largely classical curriculum of Greek, Latin and arithmetic under the governance of the Wisbech Corporation. The school has moved premises several times since its foundation, being based in St Peter's Church, the old guildhall in Hill Street and on South Brink before merging with the Wisbech High School for Girls in 1970 at the present site on North Brink.For much of the 20th century, it was a non-fee paying voluntary-aided school, but following LEA plans to remove this status and merge the Grammar School with two nearby secondary modern schools, the governors decided to become fully independent in 1983. Now a fee-paying day school, pupils aged 4 to 18 attend from the three counties of Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Lincolnshire. Following the closure of the nearby St Audrey's Convent School, a significant feeder for the senior school, a new junior and infant preparatory school was opened in 1997, now known as Magdalene House.Entry to the senior school at age 11 is based on a competitive examination. Pupils are also admitted at later stages, including sixth form. Pupils generally take nine General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) examinations in Year Eleven (aged 15–16), and they have a choice of three, four or five A-levels in the sixth form. The majority of students go on to higher education following the completion of their A-levels at the end of Year Thirteen (aged 17–18).

Wisbech Town Hall is a historic building on North Brink, Wisbech, Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire, England. The building incorporates the offices, council chamber and mayor's parlour of Wisbech Town Council, and is a Grade II listed building.

Wisbech was a rural district in Cambridgeshire in England from 1894 to 1974. It was formed from that part of the Wisbech rural sanitary district which was in Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire, by the Local Government Act 1894. It covered the parishes of Elm, Leverington, Outwell, Parson Drove, Tydd St Giles, Upwell and Wisbech St Mary. The offices were in Alexandra Road, Wisbech.When first created, the district consisted of two detached parts separated by the long, narrow tail of Wisbech Municipal Borough. In 1933 the south-western part of Wisbech MB was transferred to the parish of Elm, leaving Wisbech RD surrounding the town on three sides.It formed part of the administrative county of Isle of Ely from its creation until 1965, when this merged to form part of Cambridgeshire and Isle of Ely. In 1974 the district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972. It became part of the Fenland district.

Queens Road Cricket Ground was a cricket ground in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1851, when Wisbech played an All-England Eleven.The ground held a single first-class match when Cambridgeshire played Yorkshire in 1867.The site of the ground today would be along Queens Road, which still exists within Wisbech today. Its likely location would be at the northern end of Queens Road.

The Clarkson Memorial in Wisbech, Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire, England commemorates Thomas Clarkson (1760–1846), a central figure in the campaign against the slave trade in the British empire, and a former native of Wisbech. It was erected in 1880–1881 and is a Grade II* listed building.The memorial consists of a statue mounted on a high platform. Above this rises a canopy, in the form of a spire. The whole structure is 68 feet (20.6 m) high. On three of the four sides are carved bas-reliefs, representing William Wilberforce and Granville Sharp, both prominent figures in the campaign against the slave trade, and a manacled slave in a beseeching attitude. The fourth side bears an inscription to the memory of Clarkson.
