Slack Farmstead

Mexico is a town in the northeastern section of Oswego County, New York, United States. The population was 5,197 at the 2010 census. The town contains a village also named Mexico. Mexico has been referred to as the "Mother of Towns", as the original town as enacted by separate acts of 1792 and 1796 comprised an area that would eventually form six separate counties (Onondaga, Cortland, Oneida, Lewis, Jefferson, and Oswego). These six counties today contain a total of 84 separate towns that were once included in the original Town of Mexico. NY 69 passes through the town of Mexico and comes to an end in the village of Mexico, where it intersects with NY 104 (Main Street). U.S. Route 11 also passes through the town.

Oswego County is a county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2020 census, the population was 117,525. The county seat is Oswego. The county name is from a Mohawk-language word meaning "the pouring out place", referring to the point at which the Oswego River feeds into Lake Ontario at the northern edge of the county in the city of Oswego. Oswego County is part of the Syracuse, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Stillman Farmstead is a historic farm complex and national historic district located at Mexico in Oswego County, New York. The district includes three contributing structures; the farmhouse, a mid-19th-century barn (1840), and a large garage (c. 1905). The farmhouse is a 2+1⁄2-story frame building built in 1889 in the Queen Anne style.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Fowler-Loomis House is a historic home located at Mexico in Oswego County, New York. It is a large, square, 1+1⁄2-story wood-frame house in the Greek Revival style. The residence was built in 1847 and is a full five bays in width with a low-rise hipped roof. It features a full-length, 2-story portico supported by four massive square columns.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Asa and Caroline Wing House is a historic home located at Mexico in Oswego County, New York. It was probably built in the 1830s and is a 1+1⁄2-story frame settlement period structure. It has a fieldstone foundation, post and beam construction, plank walls, and gable roof. Asa and Caroline Wing purchased the home in 1847. It is a well-documented location used in harboring fugitive slaves. Specifically, from December 24–27, 1850, Asa Wing harbored seven members of the Thompson family in their flight to Canada.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.Caroline M. Mitchell Wing (1821–1889) married Asa Wing in 1843; he died in 1853.

Thayer Farmstead is a historic farm complex and national historic district located at Mexico in Oswego County, New York. The district includes two contributing structures; the farmhouse and horse barn with small carriage shed. Also on the property are a contributing The farmhouse is composed of a two-story central section flanked by symmetrical one story wings. It is a frame building built about 1836.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

The Mexico Stone Store, also known as The Little Stone House, is a historic commercial building located at Mexico in Oswego County, New York. It was built as late as the 1830s and is a one-story, stone building with a gable roof. At the rear is a two-story frame extension. It is believed to be Mexico's oldest surviving commercial building.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Phineas Davis Farmstead is a historic farm complex and national historic district located in the village of Mexico in Oswego County, New York. The district features an Italianate farmhouse built in 1874. Also on the property is a historic henhouse and three stone hitching posts.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Starr Clark Tin Shop is a historic commercial building located at Mexico in Oswego County, New York. It is a two-story wood-framed vernacular building built about 1827 with Federal details. The tin shop measures 24 feet 4 inches (7.42 m) wide and 32 feet (9.8 m) deep, with a 24-foot-4-inch-wide by 25-foot-8-inch-deep (7.42 m by 7.82 m) rear wing. Its owner, Starr Clark, was a widely recognized abolitionist and supporter of the Underground Railroad.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.The Mexico Historical Society has restored the shop and operates it as a museum that highlights its use as a working tin shop and as an hub for the abolition movement.

Mexico Village Historic District is a national historic district located at Mexico in Oswego County, New York. The district includes 77 contributing buildings and three contributing structures. There are 33 residential buildings, 23 commercial buildings, and 17 outbuildings. It includes the central part of the built-up area of the small rural village of Mexico. Beck's Hotel (1897) is the largest building in the district.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Red Mill Farm is a historic farm complex and national historic district located at Colosse in Oswego County, New York. The district includes a number of contributing structures; the farmhouse, tool shop (c. 1832), granary (c. 1832), horse barn (c. 1832), silo, garage, milkhouse, and windmill. The farmhouse was built about 1832 and is a three bay, two story frame building.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
