Stanley Park railway station

Stanley Park was a proposed football stadium in Stanley Park, Liverpool that if built, would have become home to Liverpool Football Club, replacing their current stadium Anfield. The stadium had a planned capacity of 60,000 (potentially expandable to 73,000) all-seated. There were two designs that were given planning permission. One was designed by architects AFL with a capacity of 60,000, the second was a more expensive futuristic design by Dallas-based architects HKS, which would originally seat 60,000 with capacity for further expansion to 73,000. As of January 2012 only small site preparation work had been completed. A change in owners resulted in the plans for Stanley Park Stadium being reexamined. In October 2012 new owners Fenway Sports Group announced their decision to redevelop and expand the current club stadium Anfield (in a similar way that they redeveloped Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox) rather than proceed with the planned new stadium.

Stanley Park is a 110 acres (45 ha) park in Liverpool, England, designed by Edward Kemp, which was opened on 14 May 1870 by the Mayor of Liverpool, Joseph Hubback. It is significant among Liverpool's parks on account of its layout and architecture. It has a grand terrace with expansive bedding schemes that were once highlighted by fountains. It includes the 1899 Gladstone Conservatory (recently restored and renamed the Isla Gladstone Conservatory), a Grade II listed building built by Mackenzie & Moncur of Edinburgh. 50–60% of the land consisted of open turfed areas, suitable for sport, with most of the rest being laid out as formal gardens and lakes. Kemp designed a horse-riding track ('Rotten Row'), though it did not catch on and was restyled as a cycle track around 1907. Stanley Park is known for dividing the home grounds of rival Merseyside football clubs Everton and Liverpool. However it was also the original home to a fledgling Everton Football Club in 1879 before the club moved to nearby Priory Road and then Anfield Road. Part of Stanley Park was to have been incorporated into the area of Liverpool's proposed new stadium, plans for which were first announced in 2000, ironically the same location Everton F.C. played, but a change of ownership of the club during autumn 2010 resulted in the Stanley Park project being scrapped in October 2012, in favour of expanding Anfield.The park has an Evangelical church located on the corner in between the two football teams. It is named "Stanley Park Church" and is over 100 years old. The park is named after Lord Stanley of Preston.

Anfield is a Liverpool City Council ward in the Liverpool Walton Parliamentary constituency. The ward was created in 1900 with a single councillor elected in that year, a second was elected in 1901 and a third in 1902. The boundary of the ward has been altered in 1953, 1973, 1980 and finally in 2004. The ward contains Anfield Cemetery, Stanley Park and Anfield Stadium. In 2004 the ward was slightly enlarged and the current ward boundaries are Walton Lane to the west; the Canada Dock Branch Line to the north; roughly Townsend Lane, Lower Breck Road and Rocky Lane to the east; and Walton Breck Road, Oakfield Road and Belmont Road to the south.

Anfield is a football stadium in Anfield, Liverpool, Merseyside, England, which has a seating capacity of 53,394, making it the seventh largest football stadium in England. It has been the home of Liverpool F.C. since their formation in 1892. It was originally the home of Everton from 1884 to 1891, before they moved to Goodison Park after a dispute with the club president.The stadium has four stands: the Spion Kop, the Main Stand, the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand and the Anfield Road End. The record attendance of 61,905 was set at a match between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1952. The ground converted to an all-seater stadium in 1994 as a result of the Taylor Report, which reduced its capacity. Two gates at the stadium are named after former Liverpool managers: Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley. Both managers have been honoured with statues outside the stadium: Shankly's unveiled in 1997 by the Kop Stand and Paisley's in 2020 by the Main Stand. The ground is 2 miles (3 km) from Liverpool Lime Street railway station. It was proposed in 2002 to replace the stadium with a new one in the adjacent Stanley Park, but after the acquisition of Liverpool F.C. by Fenway Sports Group in 2010 it was made clear this would not happen. Construction for an extension to the main stand began on 8 December 2014. This extension, one of the largest all-seater single stands in European football, opened to the public on 9 September 2016, increasing the stadium capacity to 53,394. The Anfield Road Stand is currently being redeveloped to bring the stadium capacity to around 61,000. It is due to be completed in time for the 2023–24 season.

Anfield Community Comprehensive School was a secondary school in the Anfield area of Liverpool, England. The school had over 1100 pupils. The Anfield code was "Committed to achievement in the community".

Anfield Cemetery, or the City of Liverpool Cemetery, is located in Anfield, a district of Liverpool, Merseyside, England. It lies to the northeast of Stanley Park, and is bounded by Walton Lane (A580 road) to the west, Priory Road to the south, a railway line to the north, and the gardens of houses on Ince Avenue to the east. The cemetery grounds are included in the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens at Grade II*.

Lieutenant Reginald Milburn Makepeace (27 December 1890 – 28 May 1918) was a British World War I flying ace credited with 17 aerial victories.

Goodison Park is a football stadium in the Walton area of Liverpool, England. It has been the home stadium of Premier League club Everton F.C. since its completion in 1892. Located in a residential area 2 miles (3 km) north of Liverpool city centre, it has an all-seated capacity of 39,414.As Everton have only been outside the top division for four seasons, Goodison Park has hosted more top-flight games than any other stadium in England (they were relegated in 1930 and 1951). The stadium has also been the venue for an FA Cup Final and numerous international fixtures, including a semi-final match in the 1966 World Cup, among others.

Spellow Lane Church is an Evangelical church in Walton, Liverpool, Merseyside, England (grid reference SJ357938).

James Patrick Bulger (16 March 1990 – 12 February 1993) was a two-year-old boy from Kirkby, Merseyside, England, who was abducted, tortured, and murdered by two 10-year-old boys, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, on 12 February 1993. Thompson and Venables led Bulger away from the New Strand Shopping Centre in Bootle, after his mother had taken her eyes off him momentarily. His mutilated body was found on a railway line 2+1⁄2 mi (4 km) away in Walton, Liverpool, two days after his abduction. Thompson and Venables were charged on 20 February 1993 with abduction and murder. They were found guilty on 24 November, making them the youngest convicted murderers in modern British history. They were sentenced to detention at Her Majesty's pleasure, and remained in custody until a Parole Board decision in June 2001 recommended their release on a lifelong licence aged 18. Venables was sent to prison in 2010 for breaching the terms of his licence, was released on parole again in 2013, and in November 2017 was again sent to prison for possessing child abuse images on his computer. The Bulger case has prompted widespread debate about how to handle young offenders when they are sentenced or released from custody.

St Luke's Church is an Anglican church in Walton, Liverpool, England; it is enclosed on two sides by Everton Football Club's ground Goodison Park. The church is located between the Gwladys Street End and Goodison Road stands of Goodison Park. As well as serving the community of the small but densely populated parish the church enjoys a good relationship with Everton Football Club. On regular match days, the church opens up two and a half hours before kick off for supporters to come and have a cup of tea or just a sit down. Everton do not play games early on a Sunday to avoid clashing with the church's regular services. The church has a remembrance garden, which backs onto the Gwladys Street End Stand. Here ashes of parishioners and Everton fans the world over are placed in the garden according to Church of England custom and practice. The garden is open on request and offers peace and tranquility for families of those who are remembered there. Plaques are made representing all those whose ashes have been sent in or in some instances, shrubs and plants are planted.
