Lawrence County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 86,070. The county seat and largest city is New Castle.The county was created on March 20, 1849, from parts of Beaver and Mercer counties. It was named after the flagship of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the USS Lawrence. Lawrence County is part of the Pittsburgh, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area.
