Hazleton was recorded in the Domesday Book (1086) as Hasedene. Hazleton Abbey was formed in the 12th century. The former Abbey barn survives. Hazelton Manor was built on the site in the 16th century.

Hazleton Abbey was an abbey at Hazleton in Gloucestershire, England. It was formed in the 12th century. Monks from Kingswood Abbey bought the land after King Stephen had confiscated it from Reginald de Waleric. Ownership was disputed and Reginald de Waleric was ordered to found a Cistercian Abbey by the Pope and allowed the monks to return. A shortage of water meant that they later moved to Tetbury. It became crown land after the dissolution of the monasteries. The former Abbey barn survives. Hazelton Manor was built on the site in the 16th century.

Notgrove Long Barrow is a prehistoric long barrow burial mound in Gloucestershire, England. It consists of a large mound with a passage running through the centre and several small chambers opening off it. Human remains were interred in these chambers. It is unlikely that any of these remains are still within the mound, as the barrow was open for thousands of years before being sealed in 1976 to prevent further damage to the site.

Its benefice is combined with those of St Faith, Farmcote, St Mary, Lower Slaughter, St Andrew, Naunton, St Mary, Temple Guiting, St James, Cutsdean, and St Peter, Upper Slaughter. The church contains fabric dating from the 12th century and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. It formerly stood in the centre of the village, but the demolition of buildings since 1900 has left it standing at the village's southern end.
