Mansfield Hollow State Park

The Mount Hope River is a river in northeastern section of the U.S. state of Connecticut. The river is formed at the outlet of Morey Pond at the extreme northern end of Ashford, Connecticut, at the border of Union, Connecticut, and flows about 15 miles (24 km) south to Mansfield Hollow Lake, just south of Mansfield, Connecticut.

Mansfield Hollow Lake is a reservoir resting on the border of Windham County and Tolland County, Connecticut. The reservoir provides drinking water for Willimantic and helps control flooding in the 159-square-mile Thames River watershed. It was created by the Mansfield Hollow Dam and is entirely contained within Mansfield Hollow State Park and the Mansfield Hollow Wildlife Area. Designed and constructed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the dam substantially reduces flooding along the Quinebaug, Shetucket, and Thames rivers. Construction of the project began in 1949 with completion in 1952 at a cost of US$6.5 million. The Mansfield Hollow reservoir is located within the Shetucket River Watershed and is part of the Thames River Basin. Access to the site is available from US Route 6 and State Route 195. The damsite, covering an area of 25 acres (10 ha), was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The Mansfield Hollow Historic District encompasses the remnants of a modest 19th-century industrial village on Mansfield Hollow Road in Mansfield, Connecticut. Originally industrialized with saw and grist mills, a silk mill was added in 1838, when its most significant growth began. The surviving stone mill was built in 1882, and there are a number of nearby houses dating to the industrial period. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Mansfield Center Cemetery is a small cemetery in the Mansfield Center section of Mansfield, Connecticut. Established in 1693, it is one of the few surviving elements of Mansfield's early colonial settlement history. It also has a distinguished array of funerary markers carved by acknowledged master's across eastern Connecticut. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Mansfield Center is a village within the town of Mansfield in Tolland County, Connecticut, United States. The village is the basis of a census-designated place (CDP) of the same name with a population of 947 at the 2010 census. The CDP includes the original settlement of Mansfield, Mansfield Center or Mansfield Village, as well as the village of Mansfield Hollow. Mansfield Hollow State Park is also located within the boundaries of the CDP.

The Eleazer Williams House is a historic house in Mansfield Center, Connecticut, United States. It is located on Storrs Road (Connecticut Route 195) near the southeast corner of the junction with Dodd Road. Completed in 1710, it was the home of the town's first minister, and has a well-preserved chronology of alteration, illustrating changing building practices over the course of the 18th century. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, and is included within the Mansfield Center Historic District.

The Mansfield Center Historic District encompasses the historic early village center of Mansfield, Connecticut. First settled about 1692, it is one of the oldest settlements in Tolland County, and retains a strong sense of 18th century colonial layout. It extends along Storrs Street (Route 195) extending from Chaffeeville Road in the north to Centre Street in the south, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Proposal Rocks is the name of a 29.9 acre nature preserve owned by Joshua's Trust in that features a group of granite boulders. It was donated to Joshua's Trust in 2003, and in 2009 was connected to 134-acre Coney Rock preserve by a 5.9 acre space of land.The site was named Proposal Rocks because the previous owner Leonora Mullane's parents had gotten married in that spot.

Coney Rock is a 600 foot tall, 1,000 foot long, glacially formed granite and gneiss ridge in Storrs, Connecticut, part of the town of Mansfield. It is part of the 200-acre Coney Rock Preserve owned partly by the Town and partly by Joshua's Trust that includes the remains of an old farm, a marsh, a hemlock grove, a hornbeam stand, a birch grove, and glacial erratics, as well as five miles of white and yellow blazed trails. There is a memorial bench at the peak. According to local legend, one can see Rhode Island from the ridge. The cliff is stepped.

Wolf Rock, also known as Wolfpit Rocks, Woolfes Rocks, and Wolfe's Rock is the name of a notable gneiss and quartz conglomerate glacial erratic in Mansfield, Connecticut, perched atop a 40-foot cliff. The rock itself is six feet tall and almost round. The surrounding landscape also contains many boulders and crags. The rock was once part of a tower used to view the landscape. The Wolf Rock Nature Preserve which holds Wolf Rock is 108 acres in total. It is the first acquisition of the Joshua's Trust and includes part of the Nipmuck Trail.The Wolf Rock Nature Preserve is adjacent to Sawmill Brook Preserve and contains many trails. It is popular with rock climbers. It is mentioned as far back as the eighteenth century and was included in various deeds. It was named for the wolves which once lived here, and thus is often incorrectly associated with Israel Putnam. It also may have referred to a person with a similar last name. Though the rock is situated on a 40-foot part of the ledge, the ledge itself goes up to 544 feet and dips down to 25 feet in some places. There is a cairn located nearby.

The East Brook Mall is a mall located in Mansfield, Connecticut that was built to serve Willimantic and the surrounding area. The mall currently has 25 stores, including 3 anchor stores, Kohl's, TJ Maxx, and Michaels. When measured by available retail space, it is the smallest mall in Connecticut, as well as the third smallest mall in New England

The Nipmuck Trail is a Blue-Blazed hiking trail system which meanders through 34.5 miles (55.5 km) of forests in northeast Connecticut. It is maintained by the Connecticut Forest and Park Association and is considered one of the Blue-Blazed hiking trails. There are two southern trail heads (two tines of a fork) in the south of the town of Mansfield, Connecticut. The southwestern terminus is at a road shoulder parking place on Puddin Lane, and the southeastern terminus is a DEEP parking lot on North Windham Road at the southeast corner of Mansfield Hollow State Park. The northern terminus is at the north end of Breakneck Pond along the Massachusetts border in Nipmuck State Forest. Camping permits may be obtained for up to five separate locations for backpacking. For 9 miles (14 km) the Nipmuck Trail travels through the Yale-Myers Forest which is owned by Yale University. The trail also traverses 3.5 miles (5.6 km) of the University of Connecticut's East Campus (the protected Moss tract through the Fenton Forest). For about 6 miles, the trail follows the Fenton River from the University of Connecticut to Mansfield Hollow State Park.
