Whittemore Center Arena, known colloquially as The Whitt, is a multi-purpose arena in Durham, New Hampshire, United States, on the campus of the University of New Hampshire. It was built for $30 million and opened in November 1995. It was dedicated to Frederick B. Whittemore and his family on May 5, 1996. It is adjacent to its predecessor, Snively Arena, which is still standing and is used as a recreation facility. It is also adjacent to Durham's Amtrak station, and it is across the street from Wildcat Stadium. The arena is home to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats men's and women's ice hockey teams. The hockey rink originally had a full Olympic-sized sheet of ice, but the rink was reduced slightly to "NHL size" during a 2022 renovation. In 2002, 2005 and 2016, UNH and the Whittemore Center hosted the NCAA Women's Frozen Four. The arena can seat 6,501 for hockey and basketball games, and 7,200 for concerts and similar events. The lobby is decorated with heroic portraits of past men's and women's All-American hockey players. Through the end of the 2006–2007 academic year, the arena was managed by Global Spectrum, but UNH Campus Recreation took over management before the 2007 academic year. The basketball teams (which currently draw roughly 1,000 fans per game on average) normally play across the street at Lundholm Gymnasium, which is attached to Cowell Stadium. A few home basketball games have been held at the Whittemore Center. The arena is also a venue for many concerts, trade shows, and events. The arena was New Hampshire's largest until the Verizon Wireless Arena (now the SNHU Arena) opened in Manchester in 2001.The consecration of Bishop Gene Robinson occurred in this arena on 2 November 2003. Robinson is known for being the first openly gay bishop within the Episcopal Church.In September 2015 a new high definition center-hung scoreboard was unveiled. The main screens on each side of the board are 9 by 15 feet (2.7 by 4.6 m).During the summer of 2017 the arena replaced its former HID fixture lighting system with a new LED lighting system which led to much more even lighting in the arena and no more loud hum produced by the former system.In June and September 2020, the New Hampshire House of Representatives met in the arena due to social distancing requirements as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In December 2020, both the House and Senate met outside the arena. The House convened on the field hockey pitch in front of the arena. The Senate convened on a nearby parking lot, before joining the House for a joint convention on the field hockey pitch to certify the results of the 2020 general election and to elect the secretary of state and the state treasurer. In April 2022, $6 million UNH spent on renovations, that included a ice size reduction to 200 x 90 foot. The renovations also include installing new glass, a more forgiving NHL-style boards and a new sound system.

Lundholm Gym is a 3,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Durham, New Hampshire. It is home to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats athletics program, including men's and women's basketball, women's volleyball, and women's gymnastics. Lundholm Gym is the major component of the UNH Field House, which was completed in 1938 just to the northeast of Alumni Field, as part of the new athletics area. The gymnasium was renamed on December 2, 1968, to honor Carl Lundholm, '21, athletic director at the school from 1939 to 1963.

Wildcat Stadium is an 11,015-seat open-air multi-purpose stadium in Durham, New Hampshire, on the campus of the University of New Hampshire (UNH). It is home to the New Hampshire Wildcats football, lacrosse and track and field varsity teams. The stadium, which runs west-northwest, consists of a FieldTurf playing surface surrounded by a 400-metre track. On either side of the track are aluminum stands (the larger home stands being on northeast side). The stadium lies just southwest of the Field House, which houses Lundholm Gym as well as Swazey Pool and the Jerry Azumah Performance Center. The stadium is a part of the main athletics area of campus, south of Main Street and west of the railroad tracks. It replaced Memorial Field, which has since been remodeled for use by women's field hockey, and lies diagonally across Main Street beside the Whittemore Center. The track and field facility surrounding the field is named after Reggie F. Atkins, UNH class of 1928, a star student athlete who in later life donated the funds to start building the facility.

The Hamel Recreation Center (formerly the Snively Arena) is an indoor multipurpose facility located in Durham, New Hampshire, United States. It was the home of the New Hampshire varsity ice hockey team from 1965 to 1995. It is currently used by UNH as a recreation building for students and faculty and possesses basketball, squash and racquetball courts, a cycling studio, and a sauna, among several other facilities.

Thompson Hall, commonly referred to locally as "T-Hall", is one of the central buildings on the campus of the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire, United States. A large brick and stone building, it was designed by Concord architects Dow & Randlett and built in 1892. It was the first building to be built on the Durham campus, and was named for Benjamin Thompson, a farmer who left his entire Durham estate to the state for use as the college campus. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) is a public land-grant research university with its main campus in Durham, New Hampshire. It was founded and incorporated in 1866 as a land grant college in Hanover and moved to Durham in 1893, and adopted its current name in 1923. The university's Durham campus comprises six colleges. A seventh college, the University of New Hampshire at Manchester, occupies the university's campus in Manchester. The University of New Hampshire School of Law is in Concord, the state's capital. The university is part of the University System of New Hampshire and is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity".As of 2018, its combined campuses made UNH the largest state university system in the state of New Hampshire, with over 15,000 students. It was also the most expensive state-sponsored school in the United States for in-state students.

The Center for Coastal & Ocean Mapping (CCOM) / NOAA-UNH Joint Hydrographic Center (JHC) was founded in 2000 by Dr. Larry Mayer to find ways to process the massive amounts of data coming from sonar systems at rates commensurate with data collection; that is, to make the data ready for chart production as rapidly as the data could be collected.The main objective of the CCOM/JHC is to enhance methods for ocean mapping and hydrology, with the target to also advance the knowledge of the discipline's future generation. This objective underlies the aim of the JHC and its cooperative partnerships with the University of New Hampshire and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to create a national center for expertise in ocean mapping and hydrographic sciences.The center is located in the Chase Ocean Engineering building on the campus of the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire, United States. The Jesse Hepler Lilac Arboretum was located on the University of New Hampshire campus in Durham, New Hampshire, USA, at 4 Library Way, from 1940 to 1980. Jesse R. Hepler was acting chairman of the horticulture department in 1938, and suggested establishing a lilac arboretum on the slope behind Thompson Hall, a site that became known as Lilac Hill. It was dedicated in 1940, and in 1948 many of the research species were relocated there. It had 100 varieties of lilac (Syringa species) in seven color classes. By 1980, the genetic range had diminished due to cross breeding, and the decision was taken to uproot the arboretum. The lilac is the state flower of New Hampshire, and the plants were offered to the campus community. Lilac lovers wanting plants for their gardens cleared the site within 90 minutes. The continuing research into lilacs was moved to the UNH Horticultural Research facility at Woodman Farm, Spinney Lane, in Durham (at 43.1513°N 70.9440°W / 43.1513; -70.9440 (UNH Woodman Farm)).

The Memorial Union Building (MUB) is the University of New Hampshire's students' union building and the "heart of campus." The building also serves as the official New Hampshire War Memorial for soldiers killed in action since World War I. Planning for a student union began in 1930s and fundraising began in 1945. The MUB was opened in 1957*. In the 1990s the MUB was renovated, and a dining hall was added on.

University of New Hampshire Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the University of New Hampshire. It is located in Durham, New Hampshire (USA) near the old Durham Reservoir. The main telescope is a 0.35 m (14 in) Schmidt–Cassegrain reflecting telescope donated to the observatory in 1984. It is used only for educational purposes.

Durham is a town in Strafford County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 15,490 at the 2020 census, up from 14,638 at the 2010 census. Durham is home to the University of New Hampshire. The primary settlement in the town, where 11,147 people resided at the 2020 census, is defined by the U.S. Census Bureau as the Durham census-designated place (CDP) and includes the densely populated portion of the town centered on the intersection of New Hampshire Route 108 and Main Street, which includes the university that dominates the town.

Saint Thomas More Parish is located in Durham, New Hampshire, United States. Named after Thomas More of England, the Catholic parish was established in 1949 on the corner of Madbury Road and Cowell Drive, near the heart of the campus of the University of New Hampshire. The parish consists of three buildings. The main building contains the church itself where masses and other services occur. The Church Hall is in the basement of the building and is where many of the Sunday morning Christian Formation classes occur. The food pantry is also located in the Church Hall. Adjacent to the church is the Saint Thomas More Center. The parish offices and campus ministry are in this building. The Saint Thomas More Center houses the beginning of Palm Sunday mass, to allow the laying of palms down upon the path between the center and the church. The third building, the rectory, lies behind the main building. Visitor parking is available near the rectory.
