Ffridd Faldwyn is an Iron Age hillfort in northern Powys, in the former county of Montgomeryshire, It is sited on a prominent hill west of Montgomery, close to but higher than Montgomery Castle, overlooking the River Severn. It is one of the largest hill-forts in Wales.

Montgomery Town Hall (Welsh: Neuadd y Dref Trefaldwyn) is a municipal building in Broad Street, Montgomery, Wales. It served as the meeting place of Montgomery Borough Council and is a Grade II* listed building.

The Old Bell Museum is a former 16th-century inn, converted into a museum and run by volunteers from the Montgomery Civic Society of Powys. The half-timbered building contains eleven rooms of various local exhibits, including information on the architecture of the building itself. The building was originally opened as the Old Bell Hotel, and was a temperance hotel fashioned for teetotal visitors visiting Montgomery The Old Bell Museum was awarded "Accredited Museum" status by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council of Wales (MLA) in February 2009 and re-accredited in 2013.

The Battle of Montgomery took place during the First English Civil War of 1642–1646. On 17 September 1644, a Parliamentarian force commanded by Sir John Meldrum advanced to engage a Royalist army led by Lord Byron which was besieging Montgomery Castle in mid Wales. The battle was fought the next day. After the Royalists gained an initial advantage, the Parliamentarians counter-attacked and destroyed Byron's army. The Royalists retained a presence in North and Mid Wales after their defeat, but could not again gather a field army in the region until the end of the civil war.

Montgomery Castle (Welsh: Castell Trefaldwyn) is a stone-built castle looking over the town of Montgomery in Powys, Mid Wales. It is one of many Norman castles on the border between Wales and England. Its strategic importance in the Welsh Marches meant it was destroyed and rebuilt a number of times until the early 14th century, when the area was largely pacified. During the First English Civil War, it was the site of the largest battle in Wales on 17 September 1644; the walls were slighted after the Second English Civil War in 1649 to prevent the castle being used again.

Montgomery (Welsh: Trefaldwyn; translates as the town of Baldwin) is a town and community in Powys, Wales. It is the traditional county town of the historic county of Montgomeryshire to which it gives its name, and it is within the Welsh Marches border area. The town centre lies about 1 mile (1.6 km) west of the England–Wales border. Montgomery Castle was started in 1223 and its parish church in 1227. Other locations in the town include The Old Bell Museum, the Offa's Dyke Path, the Robber's Grave and the town wall. The large Iron Age hill fort of Ffridd Faldwyn is sited northwest of the town and west of the Castle. In the 2011 census, the community of Montgomery had a population of 1,295. The community includes Hen Domen.

Montgomery Football Club is a Welsh football team based in the town Montgomery, Powys, Wales, who play in the Central Wales League Northern Division. They were to play in the Ardal Leagues North East, which is in the third tier of the Welsh football league system, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Wales, the country's football association cancelled what would have been the Ardal Leagues' inaugural 2020–21 season on 4 February 2021 and the club announced its withdrawal from the league on 26 March.For the 2021–22 season they were admitted to the Mid Wales Football League East Division. They welcomed their return to Welsh Football with the signing of Pontesbury born Robert Hartshorn, the signing demonstrated a great sign of intent from The Canaries owing to the players vast experience and ability. The start of the 2023-24 season included the transfers of some promising youngsters, such as midfielder Thomas Halliday, and former Churchstoke forward Luis Davies.

Hen Domen Welsh, meaning "old mound", is the site of a medieval timber motte-and-bailey castle in Powys, Wales. It is the site of the original Montgomery Castle, and was built by Roger de Montgomery in 1070. From 1105 the castle was the home of the de Boulers (Bowdler) family, and it is from Baldwin de Boulers that Montgomery gets its Welsh name, Trefaldwyn "The Town of Baldwin". When the castle was rebuilt in stone (1223–1234), it was decided to rebuild it on a rocky promontory a mile to the south-east – the location of the current town of Montgomery, Powys. The Hen Domen site has been extensively excavated.There are permanent exhibitions relating to both the medieval Hen Domen and Norman Montgomery Castles and their archaeological excavations (with scale models of both castles) in The Old Bell Museum in Montgomery.

Lymore, or Lymore House or Lodge was demolished in 1931. It stood in Lymore Park, one mile ESE of Montgomery, Powys, Wales. The house was a large half-timbered house built by Edward Herbert, 3rd Baron Herbert of Chirbury, c. 1675, to replace the family residences in Montgomery Castle and Black Hall in Montgomery. The house, which had been uninhabited but maintained for many years, was used for an event in 1921, when one of the floors collapsed with disastrous consequences, resulting in demolition in 1931. The Earls of Powis still own and maintain the park. The park includes the grounds of the Montgomery Cricket Club, which is the oldest cricket pitch in Montgomeryshire and Offa's Dyke forms its eastern boundary. It is listed on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

Montgomery railway station served the town of Montgomery, Powys, Wales between 1861 and 1965.

Llandyssil (Welsh: Llandysul) is a village in the community of Abermule with Llandyssil, in Powys, Wales, in the traditional county of Montgomeryshire. It is about two miles from the town of Montgomery. In 2001 there were 420 inhabitants in the parish, of whom 300 lived in the village itself.

Caerhowel Bridge (Welsh: Pont Caerhywel) is a two-arch cast-iron, Grade II listed bridge over the River Severn, west of Caerhowel, Powys, Wales. The 6.6-metre-wide (22 ft) bridge was built on the site of a previous bridge which was possibly destroyed around the late 13th century. A redesigned timber bridge was destroyed after the River Severn flooded in 1852 and a subsequent bridge fell in 1858. The present-day bridge was designed by Thomas Penson making it the third cast-iron bridge in Montgomeryshire and was renovated in the early 21st century.
