Jonathan Murray House

The Hammonasset School was a progressive, college preparatory, coeducational day school located in Madison, Connecticut. Founded in 1971 by a group including Anna Hale Bowditch and Mr. & Mrs. Walter Macguire, Hammonasset was noted for its visual and performing arts programs. Operating for 18 academic years, Hammonasset closed its doors in 1991, succumbing to the early 1990s recession and a declining teenage population. The campus was subsequently purchased by the Town of Madison and converted to the Madison Town Campus, which houses the town’s offices as well as recreational facilities. All of the original buildings, although renovated to varying degrees, still stand today.

The Allis-Bushnell House is a historic house at 853 Boston Post Road in Madison, Connecticut. It was built in 1785 and in 1982, was placed into the National Register of Historic Places. The house is owned by the Madison Historical Society and operated as a historic house museum. In 1772, the 94.5-acre tract upon which the home stands was sold off to four individuals, which included Nathaniel Allis Sr. The tract was divided, and Allis received a portion including the site of the Allis-Bushnell House. Following more transfers, by 1774 David Landon and Samuel Brown were the owners of the property. Aaron Blatchley brought the land from Brown and Landon in 1785. The house was constructed as a 11⁄2-story building. It contained two sizeable rooms at the front with a smaller kitchen and bedroom behind. On the second floor, there were four small rooms. At an unknown point in the house's history, the roof was raised along the front facade to create a full second floor. The Victorian addition was likely added after the Civil War. The property was constructed from April 23, 1785 (upon the four acres being purchased by Blatchley) to December 16, 1789 (when Blatchy sold the "dwelling house").In 1917, the Madison Historical Society rented the property for its collections and as somewhere to meet. On July 13, 1920, the organization purchased the property as well as 0.56 acres. Until 2010, the house was the Madison Historical Society's headquarters. The house can be accessed by members and the public for special events.

The Meigs–Bishop House is a historic house at 45 Wall Street in Madison, Connecticut. With a construction history dating to about 1690, it is one of the town's oldest surviving buildings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It is now used for commercial purposes.

R.J. Julia Booksellers is an independent bookstore based in Madison, Connecticut owned and operated by Roxanne J. Coady, a former tax accountant. R.J. Julia has won multiple awards as a top bookstore in the state of Connecticut, and as a top independent bookseller in the United States. R.J. Julia Booksellers offers book clubs, a cafe and other events.

Madison is a town in the southeastern corner of New Haven County, Connecticut, United States, occupying a central location on Connecticut's Long Island Sound shoreline. The town is part of the South Central Connecticut Planning Region. The population was 17,691 at the 2020 census.

Tuxis Pond, occasionally spelled Tunxis, is a small pond located in the town of Madison in New Haven County, Connecticut. The pond is 3.58 acres (1.45 ha) in area. Three small streams run into it, and one runs out to sea. Tuxis Pond is about three feet (0.9 m) above sea level. The shores are mostly rocky with little sand or soil. Many nearby businesses have taken the name of the pond, including a lumber company, bookseller, grill, highway, golf club, art show, and assisted living facility. The pond was previously known to Native Americans as Tuxisshoag or Tuckshishoag.The pond is bordered on its western edge by the Tuxis Pond Walkway, an elevated boardwalk that permits viewing of the pond's wetland habitats. The walkway was contentiously approved in 1994 at an initial cost of $350,000, and an additional $400,000 in state funds were secured for the walkway's refurbishment in 2016.

Samson or Sampson's Rock is a glacial erratic boulder in Madison in New Haven County, Connecticut that, according to Algonquin legend, was formed by Odziozo the giant. The legend says that Odziozo created it after he flung some land out to sea, creating Tuxis Island. The hole filled up to become Tuxis Pond. One rock fell from his hand and became Samson Rock. While leaving, he stepped on the rock. The rock contains a somewhat foot-shaped indent on top which the Algonquin pointed to in order to support this tale. The European settlers assigned this legend to the Biblical Samson after being told the legend in the 1600s, giving the rock its name. Samson Rock has been preserved for its legendary significance, but is relatively hard to find, tucked between two shopping centers and a parking lot. The rock which it sits has been fit with a bronze plaque commemorating the legend of the rock, and a road has been named after it. The plaque was placed by the Madison Foundation, as well as the Madison Rotary Club and Stop and Shop. A bus stop also shares the name. Sometime in late December, 2012, the plaque was vandalized. The vandal had crossed out Samson and replaced it with a heavily charged term. It has since been returned to its normal condition. The rock that Samson Rock sits on is not a glacial deposit.

Madison station is a passenger rail station along CTrail's Shore Line East commuter rail line, which runs on the Northeast Corridor between New Haven and New London. Madison station consists of a mid-sized parking lot and one high-level side platform on the southbound side of the tracks. Madison is a commuter-only station; Amtrak's Acela Express and Northeast Regional services run through the station without stopping. Madison is served by about 11 Shore Line East trains in each direction on weekdays and 5 in each direction on weekends.

The Deacon John Grave House, located at 581 Boston Post Road in Madison, Connecticut, is a saltbox house that was built by Deacon John Grave in 1681. The Grave family lived in the house for 300 years. The Deacon John Grave Foundation was formed in 1983 to save the house from demolition, and converted it into a museum.

Madison Center is a census-designated place (CDP) comprising the primary village and surrounding residential land in the town of Madison, New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. It is in the southern part of the town, surrounding the intersection of U.S. Route 1 with Connecticut Route 79 (Durham Road). The CDP extends south to Long Island Sound, north to Interstate 95, east to Fence Creek, and west to Long Shore Land and Stony Lane. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 2,290, out of 18,269 in the entire town of Madison.

The State Park Supply Yard is a historic maintenance facility at 51 Mill Road in Madison, Connecticut. The facility buildings were built in 1933-35 by crews of the Civilian Conservation Corps, and remain a well-preserved example of the Corps' work. Still used by the state, the facility was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Gull Rock is a small rock ledge 542 feet (165 meters) off the coast of Madison in New Haven County, Connecticut. It is 883 square feet (82.0 square meters) in size and made of glacial granite. It was named due to the large numbers of seabirds that rest there. Some parts of Gull Rock are covered in hardy plants during the summer months, and invertebrates thrive here. The island and its neighbors are occasionally considered to be part of the Thimble Islands, though this is uncommon. A steel seawall, now decrepit and unused, runs submerged from Gull Rock to the shore.
