Strathaven North railway station

Strathaven North railway station served Flemington, a neighbourhood of Strathaven in Scotland, from 1863 to 1904 on the Hamilton and Strathaven Railway.

Strathaven Castle is located in the centre of the small town of Strathaven, in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The ruin is closed to the public and has been for 5 years. A Friends of Strathaven Castle Group was set up in February 2023 to promote the repair and renewed access to the towns major landmark. The castle can be found at grid reference NS703445. Also known as Avondale Castle, the ruin and mound is now a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Strathaven ( ; from Scottish Gaelic: Strath Aibhne [s̪t̪ɾah ˈajnə]) is a historic market town in South Lanarkshire, Scotland and is the largest settlement in Avondale. It is 7.5 kilometres (4+3⁄4 miles) south of Hamilton. The Powmillon Burn runs through the town centre, and joins the Avon Water to the east of the town. The current estimated population is 8,000. The town was granted a royal charter in 1450, making it a burgh of barony. The A71, which connects Edinburgh and Irvine, passes through the town.

Strathaven Central or Strathaven (NS 702 442) was a railway station on the Darvel and Strathaven Railway serving the town of Strathaven in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The station opened as an extension of the line from Stonehouse and in 1904 was connected with the Hamilton and Strathaven Railway via a link to Strathaven North. It was renamed as 'Strathaven' a few months before closure.

Sandford is a village near Strathaven, South Lanarkshire in Scotland. It lies approximately 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Glasgow. It has 50 houses and 200 inhabitants. Sandford also has two parks and a bus shed which houses 5 buses overnight. The village is home to one of the oldest mills in Avondale. The village is a part of Sandford and Upper Avondale Community Council. In 2002-3 the council was successful in winning a grant of £21,000 to restore a footpath between the village and the small town of Strathaven around 2 miles (3 km) away.

The Avon Water offers fishing and walks. Local businesses include the Glassford Inn and the Fortune Dragon Chinese restaurant. the village is also famous for the annual Beer and gin Festival held on the last saturday in March, The local No.13 or No 256 bus service comes through the village once every hour.

Chapelton is a small village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The village is located approximately halfway between the towns of East Kilbride and Strathaven, on the A726. It resides in the former parish of Glassford, which takes its name from the nearby village of the same name.
