The Ephraim Hammond House, also known as Cedar Hill, is a historic house at 265 Beaver Street in Waltham, Massachusetts. The two story wood-frame house was built in 1775, and is Waltham's only side-hall Georgian house. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. In the 19th century it became part of the Cedar Hill estate of Cornelia Lyman Warren, after which it was donated to the Massachusetts council of the Girl Scouts of the USA in the early 20th century. The house was restored under the auspices of the Girl Scouts and Helen Storrow, an early leader of the girls' scouting movement, and serves as one of the council's service centers.

The Jonathan Hammond House is a historic house at 311 Beaver Street in Waltham, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built in 1785 by Jonathan Hammond, member of a prominent local family. The house has transitional late Georgian/early Federal styling, and is one of the more substantial houses of the period to survive in the city. It has also been owned by the Lymans and the Warrens, also locally prominent families.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. It is now owned by Bentley University and houses some of its offices.

The Henry Stewart House is a historic house at 294 Linden Street in Waltham, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story brick building was built c.1900–01, and is a rare local example of Jacobethan style. The house was built as the gardener's cottage for Cornelia Warren's Cedar Hill estate. The house was designed by Boston architect John A. Fox. Fox based his design on that of Nun Upton, a 17th-century English country house in Herefordshire near Brimfield which is now a Grade II listed building.The house has a T-shaped plan, with projecting end gables that project upward in curved Flemish styling. The second level above the main entrance is half-timbered wood construction. The walls have highlighting heavy beltcourses, and the chimneys are topped by corbelled pots.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Joseph Andrews House is a historic house at 258 Linden Street in Waltham, Massachusetts. Built in 1851, it is one of the city's oldest examples of Italianate architecture, and was one of the first houses built in Linden Street. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Frank J. Tyler House is a historic house at 240 Linden Street in Waltham, Massachusetts.

The Dunbar–Stearns House is a historic house at 209 Linden Street in Waltham, Massachusetts. This 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built c. 1846 by Peter Dunbar, and was originally Greek Revival in character. It had a fully pedimented gable, with a single-story porch that was supported by columns that apparently wrapped around the building. The house was purchased in 1892 by Joseph Stearns, who had the house completely remodeled to achieve its present Queen Anne styling. It was enlarged to the sides by incorporating the area of the side porticos, a turret was added to the front, and the pedimented gable was covered with decorative shingle styling. Interior alterations into the new style were equally extensive.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Clematis Brook was an MBTA Commuter Rail station in Waltham, Massachusetts. It served the Fitchburg Line, and was located in the Warrendale section of Waltham. It was closed in 1978 due to poor ridership. It was located at the eastern terminus of the Mass Central Rail Trail - Wayside.

The Walter E. Fernald State School, later the Walter E. Fernald Developmental Center, was the Western hemisphere's oldest publicly funded institution serving people with developmental disabilities. Originally a Victorian sanatorium, it became a "poster child" for the American eugenics movement during the 1920s. It later was the scene of medical experiments in the 20th century. Investigations into this research led to new regulations regarding human research in children. The school occupies a 186 acres (75 ha) property off Trapelo Road in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Bentley University is a private university in Waltham, Massachusetts. Founded in 1917 as a school of accounting and finance in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood, Bentley moved to Waltham in 1968. Bentley awards Bachelor of Science degrees in 14 business fields and Bachelor of Arts degrees in 11 arts and sciences disciplines, offering 36 minors in arts and science and business disciplines. Bentley's athletic teams compete in Division II of the NCAA (except for men's hockey, which competes in Division I) and are known collectively as the Bentley Falcons. They compete in the Northeast-10 Conference.

The Linden Street Bridge is a historic bridge on the abandoned Central Massachusetts Railroad over Linden Street (Massachusetts Route 60) in Waltham, Massachusetts. It is a riveted lattice through truss bridge, built in 1894 by the Pennsylvania Steel Company, and is one of only three such bridges left in the state. The bridge is 98 feet 3 inches (29.95 m) long and 17 feet (5.2 m) wide, with an inside truss height of 21 feet 11.5 inches (6.693 m), and rests on granite abutments. The design of the bridge was based on that of the Northampton crossing of the Connecticut River by the same railroad. This section of the Central Massachusetts Branch, and the bridge, have been out of service since the early 1990s when service to the last customer, a lumber dealer located on Emerson Road, ended.The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. In 2022, the city was awarded a $500,000 state grant to restore the bridge as part of the Mass Central Rail Trail.

A triple homicide was committed in Waltham, Massachusetts, in the United States, on or very near to the evening of September 11, 2011. Brendan Mess, Erik Weissman, and Raphael Teken were murdered in Mess's apartment. All had their throats slit with such great force that they were nearly decapitated. Thousands of dollars' worth of marijuana and money were left covering their mutilated bodies; in all, $5,000 was left in the apartment. The local district attorney said that it appeared that the killer and the victims knew each other, and that the murders were not random. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the deceased suspect in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, had previously described murder victim Brendan Mess as his best friend, though before Mess was murdered there had been animosity between Tsarnaev and Mess over Mess's "lifestyle". After the bombings and subsequent revelations of Tsarnaev's personal life, the Waltham murders case was reexamined in April 2013 with Tsarnaev as a new suspect. Authorities said Tsarnaev and his younger brother Dzhokhar Tsarnaev may have been responsible for the triple homicide, that forensic evidence connected them to the scene of the killings, and that their cell phone records placed them in the area. While police in the first investigation said that victims were killed on September 12, The Boston Globe, Boston Herald, and The Wall Street Journal reported that at least one relative of the victims believes that the killings took place on September 11.In May 2013, Ibragim Todashev, a 27-year-old Chechen native and former mixed martial arts fighter who knew Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was shot and killed in Orlando, Florida, by law enforcement officers who had been interviewing him about the Waltham murders as well as the Boston Marathon bombings. The FBI has alleged that just before he was killed, Todashev made statements implicating both himself and Tamerlan Tsarnaev in the Waltham murders—saying that the initial crime was a drug robbery, and the murders were committed to prevent being identified by the victims.

The Bentley Arena is an ice hockey arena on the campus of Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts. It is home to the Bentley Falcons men's ice hockey program, replacing the previous facility, the John A. Ryan Arena. The first hockey game was on February 16, 2018 with Bentley taking on Army West Point. The total capacity for hockey games is 2,240.The 76,000 square foot facility was designed by Architectural Resources Cambridge and built by Suffolk Construction. Ground broke on the Arena in the summer of 2016, and was completed in February 2018. In May 2018, the Arena was awarded an LEED Platinum rating, the highest possible rating for sustainability, according to the U.S. Green Building Council. Since opening, the arena has hosted various events, such as Bentley's annual Spring Day concert.
