The Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty is a medieval almshouse in Winchester, Hampshire, England. It has been described as "England's oldest and most perfect almshouse". Most of the buildings and grounds are open to the public at certain times. It is a Grade I listed building.

St Faith's Church was the parish church of St Cross, a village just south of Winchester, Hampshire, England. It was situated on the northern side of what is now Kingsgate Road at its junction with what is now St Cross Road. The church's graveyard is still there today. The church was demolished in 1507, and St Cross Church, part of the Hospital of St Cross, became the parish church.

The Hockley Railway Viaduct is a disused railway viaduct to the south of Winchester in Hampshire, England.

Winchester College Ground is a cricket ground in Winchester, Hampshire. The ground is the historic grounds of Winchester College, with evidence suggesting cricket in Winchester dates back to the 17th century. The present ground, which is also known as New Field or Ridding Field, dates from 1869 when the then headmaster George Ridding bought land south of "meads" and donated it to the college. In 1875, the ground held was is to date the only first-class match to be played there when Hampshire played Kent in 1875. Hampshire, who were captained by Clement Booth, were dismissed for just 34 in their first-innings. In response, Kent were dismissed for 333, giving them a lead of 299. Hampshire fared little better in their second-innings, making just 82 to lose the match by an innings and 217 runs.Until 1888 the pitch lay east–west, after which it was moved to lay north–south, a position retained to this day. The ground is used by the College for matches against Eton College and Harrow School, as well as being used by the Old Wykehamist Cricket Club.

St. Catherine's Hill is a chalk downland hill and 43-hectare (110-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the outskirts of Winchester in Hampshire, England. It is owned by Winchester College but open to the public. It is managed by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, and topped by an Iron Age hillfort, a scheduled monument. In the Black Death, plague pits were dug in the dry valley on the south side of the hill. In the Early modern period, a mizmaze was cut on the hilltop. Winchester College football used to be played on the hill; in an old custom, members of the college assemble on the hill every year, early in the morning. Geologically, the hill is part of a local anticline in the chalk, which is of Turonian age in the Upper Cretaceous. The local ecology is dominated by the chalk, which results in a thin dark soil, a rendzina, which favours lime-loving plants from orchids to bellflowers.

Badger Farm is a suburb to the south of the city of Winchester in the English county of Hampshire, England. It is also a civil parish in the local government district of the City of Winchester. The area was developed in the 1970s and 1980s, and became a parish in 1985. The development of Badger Farm was the subject of the revised Badger Farm Development brief, 1978, produced by Winchester City Council. This laid down the standards for roads, open spaces and housing. Before the development began, the Badger Farm development area was split between two parishes and two city wards. According to the 2001 census Badger Farm had a population of 2,489. The parish is named after William Badger, who was once a tenant farmer on the site. John O'Loughlin owned the land

Franciscan Friary, Winchester was a friary dedicated to St. Francis in Hampshire, England. It was founded by Albert of Pisa in 1237 and dissolved in 1538. There are no remains but the location is thought to have been somewhere between Lower Brook Street and Middle Brook Street.

Stanmore is a large residential suburb of Winchester, Hampshire, England, situated on a very steep slope from West to East. It lies to the south-west of the city centre and to the north of Badger Farm, and makes up a large percentage, in both area and population, of the St. Luke electoral ward. It is home to roughly 6,000 inhabitants.

The Winchester College War Cloister is a war memorial at Winchester College, in Hampshire, designed by the architect Sir Herbert Baker. The roofed quadrangle is said by Historic England to be the largest known private war memorial in Europe. It became a Grade II listed building in 1950, and was upgraded to Grade I in 2017, as one of 24 war memorials in England designed by Baker that were designated by Historic England as a national collection.

Christ Church, Winchester is a Church of England parish church in Winchester, England. There are approximately 475 members on the electoral roll. It is also in partnership with the diocese of Muhubura and with St Nicholas Church in Kalerwe, Kampala, both in Uganda.

West Hill Cemetery is a cemetery to the west of the city centre of Winchester in the English county of Hampshire. Opened in the 1840s, the cemetery became the principal place of burial for the city. However by the 1900s it was almost full, and the Magdalen Hill Cemetery, to the east of the city, opened in 1914 as a replacement.The cemetery comprises 13 acres (5.3 ha) of land. The grade II listed perimeter wall, which fronts onto St James' Lane and Sparkford Road, includes red brick piers with stone caps and wrought iron railings and gates. The cemetery formerly had two chapels, one for the Church of England and the second for other denominations, together with a gate lodge. Both chapels were demolished in the 1920s, but the gate lodge still stands.The cemetery contains the grave of Charles Freeman, a circus entertainer and bare-knuckle boxer known as the "American Giant", who died of tuberculosis in Winchester in 1845. His grave is marked by a 10 ft (3.0 m) high stone obelisk erected in 1860. The cemetery also contains war graves from World War I (115) and World War II (4).Initially run by the Winchester Cemetery Company, which was established by Act of Parliament in 1840, the cemetery has been managed by Winchester City Council since 1958, and is now closed for burials. It is managed to allow its chalk downland to flourish as a habitat for insects and reptiles. A footpath across the cemetery provide access to the adjacent University of Winchester.

The Winchester Hoard is a hoard of Iron Age gold found in a field in the Winchester area of Hampshire, England, in 2000, by a retired florist and amateur metal detectorist, Kevan Halls. It was declared treasure and valued at £350,000—the highest reward granted under the Treasure Act 1996 at that time. The hoard consists of two sets of jewellery of a very high purity of gold dating from 75 to 25 BCE. Although, the items pre-date the Roman conquest of Britain in 43 CE, the manufacturing technology was Roman rather than Celtic. The total weight of the items is nearly 1,160 g (41 oz). The find was described as "the most important discovery of Iron Age gold objects" for fifty years; and the items were probably an "expensive", "diplomatic gift". The brooches alone were "the third discovery of its kind from Britain". The Winchester Hoard is now housed at the British Museum in London.
