Shawme-Crowell State Forest

The Keith Car & Manufacturing Company is a former railroad car manufacturing company that was located in the village of Sagamore in Bourne, Massachusetts. Operational between 1846 and 1928, the plant employed up to 1,400 people at a time.

The Canal Generating Plant is a petroleum and natural gas electrical power station in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Canal 1, a baseload unit, began operation in 1968 and was for many years the most efficient oil burning plant in the US. Canal 2, a cycling unit began operation in the mid-1970s. The plant was bought by Mirant in 1999, now GenOn Energy Holdings division of NRG Energy. It is located on Cape Cod Canal. In its heyday, the Canal plant generated the vast majority of the Cape's power, but today functions only as a peaking plant. In an attempt to modernize the plant, the owners constructed a 330-megawatt Simple cycle natural gas plant capable of going online within 10 minutes, and a 1.5 MW solar array on the property. The third unit has the ability to run on #2 oil during cold periods in the winter when natural gas pipelines are constrained. In 2018 it was sold to private equity firm Ironclad Energy, a subsidiary of Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners.

The Cape Cod Factory Outlet Mall was an outdoor mall located in Bourne, Massachusetts. It was first developed into a shopping center in 1972 as an indoor outlet mall, but by 2012 was developed into an outdoor plaza. When it was an indoor mall, it boasted approximately 25 shops, from outlets to local brands. The mall's grounds also once housed the original location of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Cape Cod, as well as a former motel.The indoor mall was originally opened in 1972, with the original part being the area that housed the Carter's Childrenswear and Dress Barn. The mall then saw a major expansion in the late 1980s, when the main portion of the mall was added. In its heyday, it housed retailers such as Big Dog Sportswear, Osh Kosh B'Gosh, Buck-A-Book, and a Sbarro pizzeria. The mall mostly thrived throughout the 1990s, with its apparent decline starting in the early 2000s, after Wrentham Village Premium Outlets opened nearby, siphoning much of their business. Buck-A-Book closed their store in the Cape Cod Factory Outlet Mall when the local chain went out of business in September 2005, which left one of the mall's largest tenant spaces vacant for the remainder of the mall's operation. The mall then continued to steadily lose tenants and fall into a state of disrepair for its remaining years. By 2009, the mall was well under 50% occupation. For these reasons, the mall came to be regarded as a dead mall. The mall closed on July 4, 2011, after a decade of decreasing traffic and tenants, and before being razed. On September 12 of that year, it was announced that five stores (including Van Heusen, Izod, and Bass Outlet, but excluding Carter's) would return to the site, which was being rebuilt as a strip center anchored by Market Basket. Market Basket opened its store in June 2012.

Heritage Museums and Gardens (100 acres), formerly the Heritage Plantation of Sandwich, is located at 67 Grove Street, Sandwich, Massachusetts. The public garden, with its nationally significant collection of rhododendrons hybridized by Charles Dexter, over 1,000 varieties of daylilies and extensive hosta collection, is complemented by three gallery buildings containing a world-class collection of American automobiles, American folk art and a working 1919 carousel and rare carousel figures. The museum's grounds were once the estate of noted rhododendron hybridizer Charles O. Dexter, where between 1921 and 1943 Dexter developed between 5,000 and 10,000 seedlings annually. He planted many on the site. In 1969, Josiah K. Lilly III (1916–1995) and his wife established Heritage Plantation of Sandwich on the property.

The Sagamore Bridge in Sagamore, Massachusetts carries Route 6 and the Claire Saltonstall Bikeway across the Cape Cod Canal, connecting Cape Cod with the mainland of Massachusetts. It is the more northeastern of two automobile canal crossings, the other being the Bourne Bridge. Most traffic approaching from the north follows Massachusetts Route 3 which ends at Route 6 just north of the bridge, and the bridge provides direct freeway connections from Boston and Interstate 93.

The Town Hall Square Historic District is a historic district encompassing the center of Sandwich, Massachusetts. The original 54-acre (22 ha) district was visually centered on Sandwich Town Hall, Shawme Pond, and the reconstructed Dexter Grist Mill. When first listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, it was roughly bounded by Main, Grove, Water Sts., and Tupper Rd. from Beale Ave. to MA 6A. In 2010 the district was expanded, adding another 170 acres (69 ha) and more than 150 contributing resources. The Town Hall Square area of Sandwich has been an important civic location since the town was established in 1637. Early in its history the dike was built which impounds Shawme Pond, and a grist mill was established there. It remained an agrarian community, due in part to the lack of a good harbor, until 1825, when glassmaking began to develop as an industry. Two important civic buildings, the town hall, and the First Church of Christ, were built in 1837 and 1847, during this period of prosperity, but many older buildings including several First Period houses from the 17th century, also survive in the area. Most of the properties in the district were built after American independence and before 1850.The expanded district also includes a number of houses from the second half of the 19th century, including several Queen Anne and Shingle style homes. There are four cemeteries in the district, including the original burying ground, whose oldest grave dates to 1663. There are four churches and two schools in the district, including the 1928 Henry T. Wing School at 35 Water Street, which is the largest building in the district.

Sandwich Glass Museum is a glass museum in Sandwich, Massachusetts, featuring a wide range of rare glass, including glass from the local Boston & Sandwich Glass Factory which was founded in Sandwich by Deming Jarves in 1825. The Sandwich glass works primarily manufactured pressed lead-based glass, and was known for its use of color. The museum also has a live glass blower, and exhibits detailing the creation and coloring of various types of rare glass.It has a furnace for clear glass heated to 2200 deg F that it runs 24x7 that shuts down only five years, and a computerized annealing oven to slowly cool down over a full day any new creations to help prevent cracking. The live demo has variety of what's being created depending on time of year and nearby holidays, includes glass-blowing, shaping, mold-forming and adding bits of glass color, and the museum also has a historical movie that plays once per hour, and otherwise is a series of galleries each focused on a time period or glass creation techniques. There is a shop at the end featuring consignment and museum-created items.

Sagamore is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Bourne in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 3,623 at the 2010 census."Sagamore" was one of the words used by northeastern Native Americans to designate an elected chief or leader.

Thornton W. Burgess Museum was a museum in East Sandwich, Massachusetts dedicated to the conservationist and children's book author Thornton W. Burgess (1874–1965). It was founded in 1974.The museum was based in a Colonial-style house on Shawme Pond (the model for the "Smiling Pool" in Burgess's stories). Burgess never lived in the house, but it was owned by one of his aunts. Burgess was particularly known for writing Peter Rabbit stories, following the model of Beatrix Potter, and the Peter Rabbit character was prominently featured on the property. The site also included a small library, an art gallery, and a jam shop.The museum is reported closing as of 2013 due to lack of funds to acquire and maintain the property.

First Church UCC (or "First Church," or "First Church Sandwich," or "First Church of Christ") is a Congregational church in Sandwich, Massachusetts founded in 1638 under Plymouth Colony Charter and the Mayflower Compact. It is either the oldest church on Cape Cod or the second oldest depending on the interpretation. First Church boasts Mayflower Pilgrims and their first-generation descendants as charter members. By Plymouth Colony Charter, a church was required as an official part of the governance of any newly founded township, and First Church was founded as the official church within the town of Sandwich. First Church is now a congregation of the United Church of Christ, a large theologically and socially liberal denomination. The church is open and affirming – an appellation signifying both openness to and active affirmation of all persons regardless of status (and including LGBTQI persons). First Church is well known to tourists because of the inclusion of its current steeple on the cover of Elvis Presley's How Great Thou Art gospel album.

The Hoxie House (c. 1675) is a saltbox house located in Sandwich, Massachusetts. According to the Massachusetts Historical Commission, it is likely the oldest extant house "in the area". The residence was owned by both the Smith and Hoxie families before being turned over to the town of Sandwich in 1959. During this time the house was restored, and it now operates as a museum.
