Carpenter's Station, Kentucky, originally "Carpenter's Fort", was established about 2 miles (3 km) west of present-day Hustonville, Kentucky, on the present-day county line between Casey and Lincoln counties, by three brothers, George, John, and Adam Carpenter, who ventured there from Rockingham County, Virginia, in the summer of 1779. The brothers were of Germanic descent, sons of George Zimmerman (Zimmermann anglicizes to Carpenter), who was born c. 1720 in Switzerland, emigrated to the colony of Pennsylvania around 1740, and settled in Rockingham County before the American Revolutionary War.

Traveler's Rest in Lincoln County, Kentucky is the historic home place of Isaac Shelby, the first Governor of Kentucky. Shelby acquired the property as the first land settlement preemption deed in Kentucky as a reward for his surveying services. The original house was built in 1786 of limestone, three feet thick. It stood until a fire in 1905. On the same site, a brick two-story house was built by Shelby's descendants. Built in 1906 in the Georgian and Federal revival styles, it was accepted into the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1976 for its association with Shelby. Shelby's original brick slave's quarters still stand on the property. The Isaac Shelby Cemetery State Historic Site on the same property, where Shelby and his family are buried, is open to the public. The house at Traveler's Rest is privately owned and is not open to the public.

The county was formed in 1842 and named for John Boyle (1774–1835), a U.S. Representative, chief justice of the Kentucky Court of Appeals, and later federal judge for the District of Kentucky, and is part of the Danville, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The First Christian Church in Junction City, Kentucky is a historic Christian church at the junction of Shelby and Cemetery Streets. It was built in 1932 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.It was deemed notable " as a locally significant Period Revival interpretation of the early Christian Byzantine churches, with low massing and restrained ornament. It is of brick masonry with formed concrete basement foundation built on an "L" plan with intersecting gable roofs joined with a two-story vestibule/tower entry. Design details include large, stained glass, arch-headed windows centered in both gable ends above banks of stained glass sash windows, all trimmed with stone arches and lintels; corner buttresses with stone caps; stone coping at gable parapets; tower with wide eave overhang, shallow hip roof, louvered vents in the upper story and arch above the double door entry."

After spending over 10 years as consultants and providing yeast and optimization services to most of the industry, Wilderness Trail has three whiskies on the market: a Single Barrel Bottled in Bond, Kentucky; Straight Bourbon made with small grain wheat; another bourbon bottled in Bond; Straight Bourbon small batch of 12 barrels made with rye small grain; and a Kentucky straight Rye Whiskey single barrel cask strength. All are high quality and aged from 5 to 7 years. Wilderness calls itself the city's "oldest legal distillery". The brand is distributed in (KY, OH, MI, TN, IL, GA, VA, DC, DE, MA, MD, TX, CA, WA, NV, AZ, FL, MN, IA, WY and NY). Wilderness restored the Willis Grimes House, an 1869 historic Home used for their offices, and moved its main distilling and warehousing operations there in 2015. Their campus rests on 163 acres in Boyle County.In October 2022 Campari acquired a 70% stake of the company for $420 million.
