Barasat College, previously named as Barasat Evening College (Bengali: বারাসাত সান্ধ্য কলেজ), was established in 1972, is the general degree college in Barasat, Kolkata. It offers undergraduate courses in arts, commerce and sciences. It is affiliated to West Bengal State University.

The Barasat District Sports Stadium, also known as Vidyasagar Krirangan, is an association football stadium located in Barasat, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. It is used mostly for Calcutta Football League matches. It is also used for several district-level, state-level and sometimes national level tournaments. The stadium currently holds around 15,000 spectators, has four floodlight towers, air conditioned function and changing rooms. The artificial turf at the stadium has achieved a two-star rating from FIFA. Since the 2014–15 season, the stadium has hosted the home matches of Mohun Bagan A.C. and East Bengal in the I-League.

Barasat Government College (BGC) is a state Government-owned college in Barasat, North 24 Parganas in the Indian state of West Bengal. The college was established in 1950 and is affiliated with the West Bengal State University and run by the Government of West Bengal. It was formerly affiliated with the University of Calcutta. It is a NAAC accredited with "A" grade & DST-FST sponsored college.The college has two "shifts"- Morning and Day. Morning section accommodates the Undergraduate general courses in Arts and Science, and the Day section is for Honours Undergraduates as well as Postgraduates in Botany (which was established in 2003), Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Bengali.

North 24 Parganas (abv. 24 PGS (N)) or sometimes North Twenty Four Parganas is a district in southern West Bengal, of eastern India. Barasat Sadar subdivision is an administrative subdivision of the North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. After transferring Rajarhat-Gopalpur Municipality and Rajarhat (Community development block) to Bidhannagar subdivision, Barasat Sadar subdivision's total area becomes 894.61 sq km (345.41 sq mi), population becomes 2,196,874 (2011 Census) and density becomes 2,500/sq km (6,400/sq mi).
