Hontoon Island State Park is a 1,648-acre (6.67 km2) Florida State Park located on Hontoon Island between the St. Johns River and the Hontoon Dead River in Volusia County. It is six miles (10 km) west of DeLand, off SR 44, and can only be reached by boat or park-operated passenger ferry. No motorized vehicles, other than wheelchairs, are allowed to be brought onto the island and there is no swimming. The island has pine flatwoods, palm and oak hammocks, bald cypress swamps and marshes. Hontoon Island is surrounded by the St. Johns River, the Hontoon Dead River, and Snake Creek. Activities include horseshoes, cycling, boating, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing, as well as hiking, camping, picnicking, and nature viewing and photography. The island can be circumnavigated with a nine and a half-mile (14 km) day trip; Blue Spring State Park is a short paddle up the St. Johns (3.5 miles) one way. Amenities include canoe rentals, bike paths, eleven tent sites and six rustic cabins. The park also has overnight boat slip rentals, playground equipment, picnic tables, and a 3.4-mile (5.5 km) nature trail. The park has a lending library with picture books for children aged four to nine. The park is open from 8:00 am till one hour before sunset year-round.

DeLand station is a train station in DeLand, Florida, United States. It is served by Amtrak (the National Railroad Passenger Corporation). It is about three miles west of downtown DeLand, at the location formerly known as DeLand Junction. DeLand station was originally built in 1918, and stood across from the former Volusia County Fairgrounds. It is scheduled to be served by the SunRail commuter rail service in the future.

West DeLand is a census-designated place (CDP) in Volusia County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,908 at the 2020 census.

The Hontoon Dead River is a tributary of the St. Johns River in Volusia County, Florida. Hontoon Island, home of Hontoon Island State Park is surrounded by the Hontoon, the St. Johns, and Snake Creek. A "dead river" is one with virtually no current. The area is rich in wildlife, including manatees.

The Francis P. Whitehair Bridge, also known as the Crows Bluff Bridge, was a double leaf bascule bridge located in Crows Bluff, Florida that carried State Road 44 over the St. Johns River. The original bridge on the site was constructed in 1917; replaced in 1955, and though it was previously expected to remain in service until the 2050s, a new version of the bridge opened in September of 2023.

The John B. Stetson House (known locally as the Stetson Mansion), built for hat manufacturer (and inventor of the cowboy hat) John B. Stetson, is a historic home in DeLand, Florida, United States. It is located at 1031 Camphor Lane. The house was designed by popular Philadelphia architect George T. Pearson in 1886. Pearson also designed several buildings for Mr. Stetson on the Stetson University campus, as well as the Stetson factory buildings in North Philadelphia. On November 21, 1978, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The house was extensively renovated in 2008 and, although a private residence, is open for scheduled tours.

Blue Spring State Park is a state park located west of Orange City, Florida, in the United States. The park is a popular tourist destination; available activities include canoeing, SCUBA diving, kayaking, fishing, camping, hiking, wildlife watching, and swimming. The spring in the park (Volusia Blue Spring) is the largest on the St. Johns River. Due to its relatively warm temperature of 73 °F (23 °C), the spring attracts many Florida manatees during the winter. About 102 million US gallons (390,000 m3) of water flow out of Blue Spring into the St. Johns River every day.

DeLand Southwest is an unincorporated census-designated place located in Volusia County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,056 at the 2020 census.

The Kilkoff House is a historic house located in DeLand, Florida. It is locally significant as one of DeLand's earliest buildings, and also as a good example of vernacular construction that historically underwent modification to suit the needs and tastes of its owners.

The Thursby House located at Blue Spring State Park in Orange City, Florida, was constructed in 1872. The house was once a two-story structure built from three kinds of center-cut pine that had been milled in Savannah, Georgia, and transported by boat to the site. Louis P. Thursby and his family settled on the inlet to Blue Springs, located on the St. Johns River, in 1856. Shortly after arriving, he constructed one of the first steamboat landings and planted one of the earliest orange groves on the upper St. Johns River. His initial residence was a log cabin that he built. Thursby's son added a third story and kitchen wing in 1900, which is still standing today.A cypress water tank stood near the northeast corner of the house. The tank has recently been removed from its supports. The Louis P. Thursby House is a historic home in Orange City. It is located inside Blue Spring State Park. On May 11, 2000, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Stockton-Lindquist House (SLH) is the oldest historic home in the small town of DeLand, Florida and one of the oldest Historic Sites in Volusia County, FL. SLH was built in 1870. It is located at 244 East Beresford Avenue. SLH has been designated four times, each time highlighting its important aspects and contributions to Volusia County, FL. On June 22, 2004, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. SLH has also being designated a Florida Archaeological Site under the project name Andrew and Mary Lindquist Aboriginal site. It was recognized by the Florida Bureau of Folklife and has been recently designated on the Volusia County Register of Historic Places. On July 4, 2008, the Stockton-Lindquist House became the home of the Stockton-Lindquist House Foundation for Historic Preservation, Inc, a 501 (C)(4). The foundation is organized exclusively for civics, social welfare, religious, charitable, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes as the restoration and preservation in perpetuity of historic buildings and properties, and to increase the sum of historic knowledge for the benefit of all mankind.

Melching Field at Conrad Park is a baseball stadium located in DeLand, Florida. The primary tenant of Melching Field is the Stetson University Hatters college baseball team, a Division I program playing in the ASUN Conference.
