Lochgilphead High School in Lochgilphead, Argyll is a secondary school servicing around 500-700 students. A new campus has been built in 2007 incorporating Lochgilphead High School, Lochgilphead Primary School and the White Gates Learning Centre. The roof of the incorporated sports centre was blown off by fast winds shortly after completion, and the main entrance door blew in due to fast winds and stormy weather. The £17,000,000 Lochgilphead Joint Campus Construction began in 2004 and was complete in October 2007 then it was officially opened in May 2008. The Building turned 14 years old in October 2021, in October 2022 the building will turn 15 years old which is half way through the lifespan that these buildings are given. Argyll and Bute Hospital was a mental health facility in Lochgilphead, Scotland. The original building (sometimes referred to as the West House) is a Grade C listed building. The hospital is managed by NHS Highland.

Lochgilphead (; Scottish Gaelic: Ceann Loch Gilb [kʲʰan̪ˠ l̪ˠɔx ˈkʲilip]) is a town and former burgh in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, with a population of around 2,300 people. It is the administrative centre of Argyll and Bute Council. The village lies at the end of Loch Gilp (a branch of Loch Fyne) and lies on the banks of the Crinan Canal. Lochgilphead sits on the A83, with Ardrishaig 2 miles (3 km) to the south and Inveraray 24 miles (39 km) to the north-east; Oban lies 37 miles (60 km) north on the A816. The council is based at Kilmory Castle, around which is located a woodland park and an Iron Age fort. Forestry and Land Scotland also have an office there.

Loch Gilp (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Gilp) is a small inlet on Loch Fyne, Argyll and Bute, west of Scotland. Which gives its name to Lochgilphead. The Crinan Canal extends from the loch across to Crinan itself.

Ardrishaig (Scottish Gaelic: Àird Driseig) is a coastal village on Loch Gilp, at the southern (eastern) entrance to the Crinan Canal in Argyll and Bute in the west of Scotland. It lies immediately to the south of Lochgilphead, with the nearest larger town being Oban.

Inverneill House is a country house in Argyll, western Scotland. It stands on the west shore of Loch Fyne, around 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Lochgilphead. Although the house is not listed, the walled gardens and mausoleum on the estate are protected as category B listed buildings. The lands of Inverneill first came into Campbell hands in 1480 when the lands of Knapdale were granted to Colin Campbell, 1st Earl of Argyll. In 1773, it passed to a branch of Campbell of Craignish: Sir Archibald Campbell became the owner of the estate. Though neither the largest nor the grandest of his several estates, it was Archibald's favourite, but he was unable to live on the land as he was appointed Governor of Jamaica and then of Madras in India, dying a few months after his return. It was his elder brother, Sir James Campbell of Killean, Perthshire, who first made a home at Inverneill, using it as a summer 'cottage' for his family. The house was of a good size in those days, having dining and drawing rooms, 8 bedrooms, a housekeeper's room, servants' rooms, pantry, kitchen and scullery, as well as outhouses containing wash house, laundry and dairy. The walled garden with its 20-foot (6.1 m) high wall containing two turrets was reputed to be one of the finest in Scotland for fruit and vegetables of all kinds. Lt Col. Duncan Campbell, 7th of Inverneill, added the three-storey wing around 1890. The house was occupied by the Campbell family until 1955 when it was sold, though the family continue to own Inverneill Island. The last two occupants were the Misses Olive and Una Campbell. Their sister had married and became Mrs. Ysobel Stewart of Fasnacloich was the founder of the Scottish Country Dance Society and became its first Secretary. A country dance named "Inverneill House" was composed in her honour.

Kilduskland Reservoir is of the impounding variety and is located 2 kilometres west of Ardrishaig, supplying the village with its water supply. The concrete dam is 9 metres high and it was completed in 1906.

Cairnbaan (Scottish Gaelic: An Càrn Bàn) is a village situated on the Crinan Canal, in Argyll and Bute, western Scotland. Cairnbaan is about halfway between Ardrishaig on Loch Gilp at the canal's eastern end and Crinan on the Sound of Jura to the west. Its name, from Scottish Gaelic, means white hill or white cairn. On the hill above the village there are cup and ring marks dating from the Iron Age. The Cairnbaan Hotel was built in about 1800 to cater for canal travellers. It was once a temperance hotel. It has featured in the television series The Tales of Para Handy, based on the novels of Neil Munro.

Cam Loch (the Crooked Loch) is one of a number of water supply sources for the Crinan Canal. The impounding reservoir lies to the south of the canal and about 3 kilometres west of Lochgilphead. It has an earthwork dam 8.5 metres high, with records showing that construction was before 1860.

Loch a' Bharain (the Baron's Loch) is an impounding reservoir in Scotland. Loch a' Bharain directly sits on the north bank of the Crinan Canal beside lock No.9, 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) west of Cairnbaan, and acts as a side pound to the summit reach: effectively increasing the area and therefore reducing the level changes caused by downward lockings at either end.. The earthfill dam is 5.6 metres (18 ft) high and was constructed in 1801 during the construction of the Crinan Canal. Works were completed by 1810 and after further repair and inspection by 1815 - 1820 the Crinan canal helped bring jobs and industry to the area shortening what would be a longer voyage on boat to get to Crinan and other areas on the west coast. The 9 mile canal became known as a Royal Route when Queen Victoria sailed the canal after works completed, this was part of her tour of Scotland. Loch á Bharain is one of the many many lochs (lakes) and burns (rivers) feeding the Crinan Canal. When the Crinan Canal was drained for repair and inspection in 2020 - 2021, Loch á Bharain was mostly drained, revealing old lock gates, tyres and other bits and pieces as well as the remains (floor plan) of the old castle of Clan McTavish. The loch is regularly used by Mid Argyll Radio Sailing for model boats.

The loch runs south west to north east and is an impounding reservoir located to the west of Lochgilphead, Scotland. It is one of a number of lochs supplying water to the Crinan Canal. The earthen dam is 15 metres high. Records show the dam was constructed before 1860.
