Harburg (quarter)

The Reiherstieg (German pronunciation ) is an anabranch of the river Elbe in the Port of Hamburg, Germany. It connects the Süderelbe and the Norderelbe. To avoid tideflow, its natural mouths are closed by locks, although the middle access through the Rethe basin isn't locked.

Harburg-Wilhelmsburg was a city in the Prussian Province of Hanover briefly in existence from 1927 and 1937, resulting from the merger of the cities of Harburg and Wilhelmsburg. In 1937, Harburg-Wilhelmsburg, along with the cities from the Prussian Province of Schleswig-Holstein, Altona and Wandsbek, is annexed to Hamburg in the Greater Hamburg Act. Despite its incorporation into Hamburg, Harburg continued to be the district capital of the Hanoverian district of Harburg. In 1944, the district capital was transferred to Winsen (Luhe). Today, the former city takes up the major part of the borough of Harburg.

Hamburg-Harburg Rathaus station is a station of the Hamburg S-Bahn on the Harburg S-Bahn in the suburb Harburg in the German city of Hamburg and is capable of serving as a bunker.

Harburger Theater is a theatre in Hamburg, Germany. It showcases classic plays, comedies, modern pieces and musicals. The theater hall is located in the main building of the Hamburg Archaeological Museum (Helms Museum) and the Museumplatz in Harsburg. The head of the theater is Axel Schneider, who also heads the Altona Theater and the Hamburger Kammerspiele. He has been with the Harburger Theater since 2003.

The Archäologisches Museum Hamburg (Hamburg Archaeological Museum; formerly the Helms-Museum) is an archaeological museum in the Harburg borough of Hamburg, Germany. It houses the archaeological finds of the city of Hamburg and the neighbouring counties to the south of the city. It focuses on northern German prehistory and early history as well as the history of the former city of Harburg. The museum is also home to the cultural heritage landmarks commission of the city of Hamburg and the adjacent district of Harburg in Lower-Saxony and thus supervises all archaeological undertakings in the region. The museum has two major exhibition spaces. The future City Museum of Harburg, temporary exhibitions, the library, offices and small storage facilities are located in the main building, which is shared with the Harburger Theater at Museumsplatz 2. The permanent archaeological exhibition and education facilities are located nearby, at Harburger Rathausplatz 5. In addition, the Museum maintains as external branches the exhibition area of the 12th-century Bischofsturm (Bishop's Tower) in Hamburg's old town, the Fischbeker Heide archaeological trail at Neugraben-Fischbek and the 8th-century hillfort of Hollenstedt.

Hamburg-Harburg or Harburg (German: Bahnhof Hamburg-Harburg) is one of four operational main-line railway stations (Fernbahnhöfe) in the city of Hamburg, Germany. Opened on 1 May 1897, it is situated on the Hannover-Hamburg, Wanne-Eickel-Hamburg and Lower Elbe lines as well as the Harburg S-Bahn line. Train services are operated by Deutsche Bahn and Metronom with the rapid transit station (named just Harburg) being served by the Hamburg S-Bahn. The station is managed by DB Station&Service.

The Northern Institute of Technology Management (NIT) is an educational institute located in Hamburg. The institute was founded in 1998 by 40 professors of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). The first president of the NIT was the renowned scientist and former president of the TUHH, Hauke Trinks. The institute was originally founded with the name „Northern Institute of Technology“, which was extended with the addition of „Management“ in December 2007. International Engineers, scientists, and graduates of business-related studies complete the program at the NIT and learn to master leadership and management tasks responsibly and sustainably. The NIT's motto is “BE THE CHANGE”. The institute offers an English-language master's program in Technology Management (M.A. and MBA) as well as various professional training courses and workshops.

The Hamburg University of Technology (in German Technische Universität Hamburg, abbreviated TUHH (HH as acronym of Hamburg state) or TU Hamburg) is a research university in Germany. The university was founded in 1978 and in 1982/83 lecturing followed. Around 100 senior lecturers/professors and 1,475 members of staff (639 scientists, including externally funded researchers) work at the TUHH.It is located in Harburg, a district in the south of Hamburg.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Gymnasium (FEG) is a German high school (see "Gymnasium") in the Harburg borough of Hamburg, Germany, that is known to exist since 1628. The school is famous for its Friedrich-Ebert-Halle, where the Beatles had their first professional recording session, backing Tony Sheridan in 1961. In 1968 it was renamed from "Gymnasium für Jungen Harburg" (engl.: "Gymnasium for Boys in Harburg") after Friedrich Ebert, first president of the Weimar Republic. The school offers three main sectors: the humanistic (with Latin since grade 5, "L" classes), the musical ("M" classes providing own class orchestras or ensembles), and the "MINT" (abbreviation of "Mathematik, Informatik, Naturwissenschaften, Technik" - “Maths, Information Technology, Science, Technics”, former "NaWi" for "Naturwissenschaften", i.e. Natural Sciences) sector (formerly "neusprachlicher Zweig" new languages sector with "E" classes, "E" meaning "English"). The school also provides exchanges with Great Britain, Mexico, Poland, and the United States, the latter of which being part of GAPP. The American partner school of the FEG is Kirkwood High School, St Louis. In grade 8, pupils have to take courses in either Greek, Spanish, DSP ("Darstellendes Spiel" - roughly “dramatic play”), or NIP ("Naturwissenschaftlich-informatisches Praktikum" - “scientific IT-based practicum”). Due to lack of interest in it, the humanistic sector is planned to be discontinued as of 2012. Even so, Latin will still be offered for grade 6 and Greek for grade 8 (see above). The school has been undergoing a renovation since 2009, which is overrunning its time. Both issues are part of the aimed-at new modern school image "Ebert 2012". School year 2009/2010 was the first grade 11 that had to take courses by the new profile system ("Profiloberstufe"). The same year Abitur after twelve years was introduced, leading to a double examination ("Doppeljahrgang"). Currently there are five profiles offered: Sprachliches Profil (linguistic profile) with either French or Spanish being profile-providing Musikalisches Profil (musical profile) with Music profile-providing Geschichtsprofil (history profile) with History profile-providing Geo-Bio-Profil (geographic-biologic profile) with Geography and Biology profile-providing Naturwissenschaftliches Profil (scientific profile) with either Biology, Physics or Chemistry profile-providing

Heimfeld is a station on the Harburg S-Bahn line in Hamburg, Germany, and served by the trains of Hamburg S-Bahn lines S3 and S31. The station was opened in 1984 and is located in the Hamburg district of Heimfeld. Heimfeld is part of the Hamburg borough of Harburg.

Harburg is a borough of the city of Hamburg, Germany. It is also the name of Harburg quarter in the borough, which used to be the capital of the Harburg district in Lower Saxony. The borough of Harburg lies on the southern banks of the river Elbe and covers parts of the port of Hamburg as well as residential and rural areas. It had a population of 169,221 as of 2020.
