RAF Inverness

The Longman (Scottish Gaelic: An Longman) is an area in the city of Inverness, Scotland. Located north of the city centre, it is bounded by the Moray Firth and River Ness and is home to the largest industrial estate in the city. At the far west of the Longman is Inverness Harbour, close to which is the Citadel, built by Oliver Cromwell in 1652. Today, only the clock tower remains. Caledonian Stadium, home to Inverness Caledonian Thistle F.C., is situated within the shadow of the Kessock Bridge on the shores of the Moray Firth in the north of the area. The previous main campus of Inverness College is in the Longman.

UHI Inverness (Scottish Gaelic: Colaiste Inbhir Nis) is one of the thirteen partners that make up the University of the Highlands and Islands, based in Inverness in the Highland council area of Scotland. A new main building at Inverness Campus was opened in August 2015, with most students and staff now located there. UHI Inverness has a second campus at The Scottish School of Forestry, based near Balloch. UHI Inverness is a tertiary organisation providing education to school pupils, and at further education, higher education and postgraduate levels, together with training for apprentices and a wide range of short courses for business. Student accommodation is also available on the new campus. It has more than 1,700 students studying towards degree courses. It is among the first Colleges in Scotland to deliver both Foundation and Graduate level Apprenticeships.

Caledonian Stadium is a football ground in the Longman area of Inverness, Scotland, near the banks of the Moray Firth. It hosts home matches of Scottish Professional Football League club Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Inverness Justice Centre is a sheriff court and Justice of the Peace Court venue in Longman Road, Inverness, Scotland. It also includes the offices of the Procurator Fiscal.

Inverness TMD is a railway traction maintenance depot situated in Inverness, Scotland. The depot, visible from Inverness station, is operated by ScotRail. The current depot code is IS, previously the shed code was 60A. 37025, owned by the Scottish Thirty-Seven Group is named 'Inverness TMD'.

The Scottish Land Commission (Scottish Gaelic: Coimisean Fearainn na h-Alba) was established by the Scottish Government following the passage of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2016 by the Scottish Parliament; the Commission also incorporates the work of the Tenant Farming Commissioner. The Lands Commissioners, who constitute the Commission, have functions relating to land in Scotland, so that they address issues which relate to ownership of land, land rights, management of land, and use of land. The Tenant Farming Commissioner has the aim of improving the relationship between tenant farmers and land owners, and can create codes of practice, provide practical guidance, and must consult on such matters. The Tenant Farming Commissioner cannot be an agricultural landlord or agricultural tenant, and will develop codes of practice which are in addition to the law and the jurisdiction of the Scottish Land Court. The Scottish Land Commission is a body concerned with looking at the concentration of land ownership, land taxation, and effective use of land for the common good. The Commission will also provide some scrutiny of those laws and policies that relate to land within Scotland.

Inverness railway station is the railway station serving the Scottish city of Inverness. It is the terminus of the Highland Main Line, the Aberdeen–Inverness line (of which the Inverness and Nairn Railway is now a part), the Kyle of Lochalsh line and the Far North Line. The Aberdeen and Perth lines diverge at Millburn Junction a short distance beyond Welsh's Bridge. Platforms 1–4 are 118 miles 3 chains (190.0 km) from Perth (measured via Carrbridge); Millburn Junction, 117 miles 37 chains (189.0 km) from Perth, is also 143 miles 39 chains (230.9 km) from Perth (measured via Dava). The station is the zero point for the Far North Line, and platforms 5–7 are 2 chains (40 m) along this line; Rose Street Junction, 18 chains (360 m) along the Far North Line, is 118 miles 1 chain (189.9 km) from Perth.

Eastgate Shopping Centre is located in Inverness, serving the largest shopping catchment area in the United Kingdom.The Eastgate shopping centre in Inverness has been taken over by UK-owned real estate company, Savills plc. popular amongst locals and tourists alike.In the old part of the building there is a clock depicting Noah’s Ark. Each hour a monkey is seen raising up a giraffe's neck and chiming a bell in order to tell the hour. On each hour the clock diorama also plays an animal themed song and a single set of doors open to show pictures of the animal associated with the song. At midday each day a longer display takes place where all of the tunes are played, all the windows are opened and the rest of the diorama also operates. It is still common to see crowds watching the clock for the extended 12 o'clock performance.

Millburn (Scottish Gaelic: Allt A'Mhuilinn, meaning "The Mill Stream") is an area of the city of Inverness in the Highland council area of Scotland. The neighbourhood is situated just east of the city centre, beside the Mill Burn for which it's named. The area is served by several primary schools in its surrounding area, with high school students attending the neighbourhood's own Millburn Academy. Millburn Road, running parallel to the academy, is one of the main access roads into the centre of Inverness from the A9. The area is also famous for Millburn distillery, which produced Scotch whisky before its closure in 1985. Though most of its buildings were demolished, part of the distillery remains as a restaurant with a purpose-built Premier Inn alongside.

The Rose Street drill hall was a military installation in Inverness, Scotland.

Crown Church is a parish church in Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, located at the junction of Midmills Road and Kingsmills Road near the city centre. The first minister (1899–1907) was the Reverend William Todd, renowned for his fervent evangelical preaching. Originally built for the Free Church of Scotland, the church buildings were completed in 1901. By this time the congregation had become part of the United Free Church of Scotland, which in turn united with the Church of Scotland in 1929, thus reuniting Scotland's largest Presbyterian denominations. In 2004 the congregation had 820 members, making Crown Church the largest Church of Scotland congregation in Inverness in terms of membership. The current minister (since 1998) is the Reverend Dr Peter H. Donald, who is also Vice-Convener of the Church of Scotland's Mission and Discipleship Council. The designer of the building was Inverness born architect James Robert Rhind, a successful architect who had been trained in his father’s practice. His designs were selected for 7 libraries around Glasgow following Andrew Carnegie’s gift of £100,000 to the city in 1901. His landmark buildings were greatly enhanced by his liberal use of columns, domes and sculpted features. Rhind’s best known buildings in the North of Scotland are the Royal Golf Hotel and the Crown Church, Inverness.

Rose Street Foundry was an industrial facility established in Rose Street, Inverness in the 1830s. It was the property of the Inverness Iron Company until 1872 when the Northern Agricultural Implement and Foundry Company Limited was established to take over the Inverness Iron Company.In 1881 this company was responsible for building the Greig Street Bridge, Inverness. In 1885 a new premises were found at 18–21 Rose Street. The architect – and Provost of Inverness – Alexander Ross – who had obtained ironwork from the foundry for various of the buildings he had built – was engaged as the architect.Aside from making agricultural implements, the company also worked on contracts for the Highland Railway.There were two fires at foundry, the more seriously one being in 1888, with a second one in 1897.
