The Topeka State Hospital (formerly the Topeka Insane Asylum) was a publicly funded institution for the care and treatment of the mentally ill in Topeka, Kansas, in operation from 1872 to 1997. Located at 2700 W 6th Street, the hospital opened in 1879, after the Osawatomie State Hospital, once thought to be sufficient, became overcrowded with mentally-ill patients. The first buildings in both Topeka and Osawatomie were designed by John G. Haskell who was among the architects of the Kansas State Capitol, and the hospital was designed in according to the Kirkbride Plan. As of 2010, the majority of the hospital had been demolished, and in June of that year, the center building was also demolished. Hummer Sports Park now occupies its space.

The Topeka Zoo (formally the Topeka Zoological Park) is a medium-sized zoo in Topeka, Kansas in the United States. It is located within Gage Park, just off I-70 in the north central portion of the city. Despite its size, it houses over 300 animals in a number of exhibits, including one of the first indoor tropical rain forests in the United States. It is one of the most popular attractions in Topeka, with over 250,000 visitors a year. The Topeka Zoo is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

The Equality House is a rainbow-colored house in Topeka, Kansas that is situated on the corner of 12th and Orleans Street, across from Westboro Baptist Church, an anti-LGBT hate group. The property was purchased by Aaron Jackson, the founder of the nonprofit organization Planting Peace, after he saw a "for sale" sign on a nearby house when looking at the community on Google Earth. He had the house painted in the colors of the rainbow flag to show support for LGBT rights.

University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus (KU Topeka), formerly known as St. Francis Health Center is a for-profit hospital and branch of the University of Kansas Medical School in Topeka, Kansas, United States. The hospital was founded in 1909 by the Catholic organization Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. On May 4, 2017, a press conference announced that The University of Kansas Hospital would take over operations of the hospital from SCL Health, in a partnership with Ardent Health. The purchase was finalized on November 1, 2017.

Gage Park is a city park of 160 acres (0.65 km2) in Topeka, Kansas, United States. It was established in 1899 and is one of the largest parks in Topeka. It features the Topeka Zoo, the Kansas Children's Discovery Center, a miniature train of 15 in (381 mm) gauge, the Helen Hocker Theater, the Blaisdell family aquatic center, and the Reinisch Rose Garden. The 70-year-old rose garden is a popular place for weddings and events, and also a place where serious horticultural work is done.

It is bounded by SW Willow Ave (south), SW Woodlawn Ave (west), NW Grove Ave (north) and SE Greenwood Ave (east).

The Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library is a public library located in Topeka, Kansas, United States. It serves all of Shawnee County, Kansas with the exception of the Rossville, Kansas and Silver Lake, Kansas townships. The Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library is a municipal taxing district authorized by Kansas law. It is governed by a board of trustees consisting of ten members. The library offers many services to the public including senior/homebound delivery, work and home delivery, bookmobile services, curbside pickup, public computers, meeting rooms, extensive programming, the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery and the Millennium Cafe.

The Westminster Presbyterian Church in Topeka, Kansas was built during 1924 to 1926. It was designed by architect Charles Cuthbert in Late Gothic Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.Its NRHP nomination describes: "As with most Late Gothic Revival structures, Westminster's design is quieter, smoother, less ornate and "top heavy" than that of the high Victorian Gothic period. There is little tracery and ornamentation is kept to a minimum."

The Westgate Bridge is a four-lane automobile crossing of the Kansas River at Topeka, Kansas, U.S.A. The bridge runs concurrent with U.S. Highway 75. The bridge extends from Interstate 70 across the river to NW 17th Street.
