Elsie Lincoln (Vandegrift) Benedict (1885–1970), also known as 'The Wonder Woman', was advertised as the world's best known lecturer during the 1920s and 1930's, speaking to over 3 million people in her lifetime and writing on what Napoleon Hill and Dale Carnegie and a long list of men would do later. Renowned for her collegiate debate skills, emerged as a key figure in the national suffrage movement being personally recruited by Carrie Chapman Catt for national suffrage advocacy as the second-highest paid American suffragist leader. She would later take to the worldwide stage promoting the law of attraction through her many free and paid lecture series. She was the founder of Brainology, a famous course on scientific mind training.

Glendale Transportation Center is an Amtrak and Metrolink rail station in the city of Glendale, California. It is served by the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner intercity rail route and the Metrolink Ventura County Line and Metrolink Antelope Valley Line commuter rail routes. The Atwater Tract Office is a historic train station located in Glendale, California. It was built in 1883, soon after Atwater Village had been settled,and served the city of Glendale from 1883 until its closing and demolition in 1922.

The Tam O'Shanter Inn (colloquially known as The Tam) is one of Los Angeles' oldest restaurants. Established in 1922, it serves hearty pub fare with a touch of Scottish flair, and is known for its prime rib and Yorkshire pudding. It is located in Atwater Village at 2980 Los Feliz Boulevard at the corner of Boyce Avenue. Walt Disney was a frequent patron there.

The 2005 Glendale train crash occurred on January 26, 2005, at 6:03 a.m. PST, when a Metrolink commuter train collided with a sport utility vehicle that had been parked on the tracks by a suicidal man in an industrial area north of downtown Los Angeles, California, causing the deaths of eleven people and injuring 177.

The Van de Kamp Bakery Building was built in 1930 in the Glassell Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. It served as the headquarters of the chain of bakeries and coffee shops known for their distinctive windmill architecture. The building was designed by New York architect J. Edwin Hopkins to resemble a Dutch 16th century farmhouse. Originally there was a Van de Kamp's store next to the building, which was one of the first Van de Kamp's stores ever made and had the famous Van de Kamp's windmill style design. The building remains the only example of an industrial plant in the Renaissance Revival and Dutch Colonial Revival styles. The bakery closed in October 1990 after Van de Kamps filed for Chapter 11. The building is a designated Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, declared on May 12, 1992. In 2010, this building underwent a $72-million renovation by the Los Angeles Community College District with the intent of being a Los Angeles City College satellite campus. The site is instead leased to charter school and job training groups.

Ralf Marc (R.M.) Walker (May 20, 1872 Bellevue Township, Eaton County, Michigan — August 28, 1935, New York City, buried Glendale, California) was an American department store executive. In his native Bellevue, Michigan, Walker worked in a grocery store for a certain Mr. C. D. Kimberley. He would later spend time in Wisconsin and Detroit before heading to Los Angeles where Arthur Letts trained him at Letts' Broadway department store, Walker was the co-founder/co-worker owner of the 125,000-square-foot department store known as the Fifth Street Store at Fifth and Broadway in downtown Los Angeles, established in 1905. Walker also owned what would later become known as the Houdini Mansion in Laurel Canyon. He died six months before the opening in San Diego of the first Walker Scott store – which would go on to become a regional chain – on October 3, 1935.
