Anula Vidyalaya is a national girls' school in Colombo. It was established in 1941 by E. W. Adikaram with 38 students and five teachers.Currently, the school has a student body of over 5,000 girls. The principal and the staff guide the pupils on the Buddhist principles of non-violence and self-discipline.

Lyceum International School (Sinhala: ලයිසියම් ජාත්‍යන්තර පාසල, Tamil: லைசியம் சர்வதேச பாடசாலை), popularly known as Lyceum and its students as Lyceumers, is the largest International School network in Sri Lanka providing all pre-primary, primary and secondary education.

The Colombo South Teaching Hospital (also called Kalubowila Hospital) is located in Kalubowila, Sri Lanka. The University of Sri Jayewardenepura uses the hospital for practical instruction. The hospital hundreds of dengue patients during an epidemic in 2014.

Balapokuna Raja Maha Vihara (Sinhala: බලපොකුණ රජ මහා විහාරය) is a historic Buddhist temple situated in Pamankada, Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is located near to the 6th mile post junction on Colombo-Batticaloa main road. The temple has been formally recognised by the Government as an archaeological site in Sri Lanka. The designation was declared on 6 June 2008 under the government Gazette number 1553.

Samudradevi Balika Vidyalaya (Sinhala: සමුද්‍රදේවී බාලිකා විද්‍යාලය) is a public girls' school located in Nugegoda, Sri Lanka. It was founded on 5 May 1915 and is considered as the oldest girls' school in Nugegoda.

St. Joseph's Boys' College (Sinhala: සාන්ත ජොසප් පිරිමි විදුහල) is a distinguished boys only primary to secondary (inclusive) school in the Nugegoda Colombo, Sri Lanka. It was founded in 1953. St Joseph's Boys College is a Roman Catholic school.

Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia (Sinhala: දෙහිවල-ගල්කිස්ස, romanized: Dehivala-Galkissa; Tamil: தெஹிவளை-கல்கிசை, romanized: Tehivaḷai-Kalkicai), population 245,974 (2012), is a large municipality in Sri lanka, and covers an extent of 2,109 ha (5,210 acres). It lies south of the Colombo Municipal Council area and separated from it by the Dehiwala canal which forms the northern boundary of DMMC. Its southern limits lie in Borupana Road and the eastern boundary is Weras Ganga with its canal system and including some areas to its east (Pepiliyana, Gangodawila and Kohuwala). This town has extensive population and rapid industrialisation and urbanization in recent years. It is home to Sri Lanka's National Zoological Gardens, which remains one of Asia's largest. Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila and Colombo Airport, Ratmalana are some important landmark in this area. Dehiwela-Mount Lavinia and Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte being two large suburban centres of the city of Colombo function together as one large urban agglomeration in the Region (Western Province). The overspill from the City in residential and commercial uses of land have rapidly urbanised these suburban centers. Dehiwela-Mount Lavinia and Sri Jayawardenpaura along with Colombo Municipal Council form the most urbanised part of the core area of the Colombo Metropolitan Region. Dehiwala and Mount Lavinia lie along the Galle Road artery, which runs along the coast to the south of the country.

Kirulapone (Kirulapana) is a suburb in Colombo, Sri Lanka which is also known as Colombo 5. The A4 (High Level Road) runs through Kirulapone while Elvitigala Mawatha (Narahenpita Road), which leads to the Katunayake Airport (CMB) begins from here.

Kohuwala is a suburb in Colombo, Sri Lanka and is situated where the Colombo Piliyandala Road crosses Nugegoda Dehiwala Road. Hence it is connected to Nugegoda, Dehiwala, Pamankada, Boralesgamuwa and Piliyandala. Kohuwala is inside the administration boundary of Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council.

Pamankada is a suburb in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is also part of the area numbered Colombo 6 and its postcode is 00600. The Colombo - Horana Road runs through the center of the town and connects to High Level Road and Havelock Road. Neighbouring suburbs are Kirulapana, Kohuwela, Dehiwela, Wellawatte and Bambalapitiya.

National Zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka (also called Dehiwala Zoo or Colombo Zoo) is a zoological garden in Dehiwala, Sri Lanka, founded in 1936. It is home to various birds, mammals, reptiles, fish and amphibians. The zoo not only exhibits animals from Sri Lanka, but also exhibits species from across Asian and other parts of the globe. As of 2005, the zoo has 3,000 animals and 350 species. The annual revenue is LKR 40 million. The Dehiwala Zoo exchanges its residents with other zoological gardens for breeding purposes. In June 2021, a lion named Thor which had been living in the zoo since 2012 reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

Yachting Association of Sri Lanka (YASL) is recognised by the International Sailing Federation as the governing body for the sport of sailing in Sri Lanka.
