Schuylkill County (, locally ; Pennsylvania Dutch: Schulkill Kaundi) is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is located in the heart of Pennsylvania's Coal Region and is part of Northeastern Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 143,049. The county seat is Pottsville.The county is part of the Pottsville micropolitan statistical area, and borders seven counties: Berks and Lebanon counties to its south, Dauphin and Northumberland counties to its west, Columbia and Luzerne counties to its north, and Carbon and Lehigh counties to its east. The county is approximately 47 miles (76 km) west of Allentown, the state's third-largest city, and 97 miles (156 km) northwest of Philadelphia, the state's largest city. The county was created on March 1, 1811, from parts of Berks and Northampton counties and named for the Schuylkill River, which originates in the county. On March 3, 1818, additional territory in its northeast was added from Columbia and Luzerne counties.

It is part of the Pottsville Area School District and is the largest public high school in Schuylkill County. It was founded in 1853 and offers a comprehensive program with an enrollment of approximately 1,000 students in ninth through twelfth grades.Students from the neighboring Saint Clair Area School District attend the high school, with their district paying tuition to PASD. The school building, with its Italian Gothic brickwork, retains its architectural and historical integrity while housing modern facilities such as four science labs, a planetarium and observatory, four computer labs, three art and two music studios, and two gymnasiums. The library has a collection of 10,000 volumes and more than 40 magazine subscriptions and access to resources throughout the state through computer systems. A formal 1,499-seat auditorium and a little theater are unique features of the building. Within the district complex are tennis courts, athletic fields, and a sports complex including a natatorium. The current high school building was constructed in 1932, and it continues to lead as an example in architectural genius

Frank D. Yuengling Mansion is a historic home located in Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1913, and is a large three-story dwelling in the Tudor-Jacobean style. It is constructed of brick, stucco, and half-timbering and contains 20-plus rooms. It features side and rear porches, a front portico, stone facing, and many gables, overhanging balconies, and brick chimneys. Also located on the property are a contributing Jacobean style garage, formal garden with decorative statuary and sundial, and sunken garden with gazebo. The house was the first house to have a telephone and electricity in at Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. It was built by Frank D. Yuengling of the Yuengling brewery, grandson of David Yuengling. The house is used as a cultural center and education facility, managed by the Schuylkill County Council For The Arts.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
