After the affiliation was formalized in 2008, Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center became known as the East Norwegian Street campus and Pottsville Hospital was renamed the South Jackson Street campus.Schuylkill Health System provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services and includes a regional network of off-site centers throughout Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania which specialize in family care, home health, outpatient surgery, MRI, and rehabilitation. Both the South Jackson Street and East Norwegian Street campuses are designated Level III Trauma centers by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation.On September 16, 2016, both campuses became part of Lehigh Valley Health Network.

Established in 1946, the station was owned by Curran Communications.On May 17, 2017, the Federal Communications Commission informed WPAM that, as the station had been silent since at least July 23, 2015, it was in the process of cancelling the station's license; the license was canceled on June 29, 2017.

The Locust Ridge Wind Farm is a large wind farm located near Mahanoy City in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. The first phase, Locust Ridge I, has 13 Gamesa 2MW Wind Turbines that began commercial operation in 2006. The wind farm has a combined total nameplate capacity of 26 MW, producing about 68,328 megawatt-hours of electricity annually, which is enough to power 24,000 homes.Construction of Locust Ridge II began in 2008 with the installation of 51 additional Gamesa 2MW wind turbines that are projected to produce 102 MW of electricity. The calculated yearly production of the wind farm is estimated to produce 372,300 megawatt-hours of electricity, enough to power 40,000 additional homes in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Seven of the 51 wind turbines are located in Conyngham Township, Columbia County and the remaining turbines are located in Schuylkill County. Locust Ridge II became operational in late 2008.Nearly all of the large wind turbines from Locust Ridge I and II can be seen from Interstate 81 near Frackville, Pennsylvania.

Port Carbon is a borough of Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States, located two miles (3 km) northeast of Pottsville. It is in a coal-mining area. In the past, ironworks had been a feature of the borough. In 1900, 2,168 people lived here and, in 1910, 2,678. The population was 1,815 at the 2020 census.

Schuylkill Institute of Business and Technology was a private technical college located in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, United States. The school was founded in 1998, and was sold to MC Education, Inc. in 2000.In 2006, it was announced that SIBT would be closing at the end of the 2007 year.
