Priory Woods (grid reference SZ635900) is a 2.94 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest near the town of Bembridge, Isle of Wight, notified in 1998. It is a National Trust property and is served by a public footpath. Concealed within it is "The Priory Oyster" - an oyster bar attached to the Priory Bay Hotel and open only in the height of summer. It has significant recent archaeology with the remains of a sea wall and rusted iron railings. Acheulean hand axes have been found in strata dated from c.400,000 years ago, which would indicate their users were early Neanderthals or late Homo heidelbergensis. The woods overlook Priory Bay and its private beach.

The Vectis Formation is a geological formation on the Isle of Wight and Swanage, England whose strata were formed in the lowermost Aptian, approximately 125 million years ago. The environment of deposition was that of a freshwater coastal lagoon with occasional marine influence after the early Aptian marine transgression, transitioning from the floodplain environment of the underlying Wessex Formation. The primary lithology is of laminated grey mudstones. The Vectis Formation is composed of three geological members: the Shepherds Chine member, the Barnes High Sandstone member, and the Cowleaze Chine member. It is overlain by the fully marine Atherfield Clay Formation, part of the Lower Greensand Group. Dinosaur remains are among the fossils that have been recovered from the formation.

Priory Bay is a small privately owned bay on the northeast coast of the Isle of Wight, England. It lies 3⁄4 mile (1.2 km) to the east of Nettlestone village and another 3⁄4 mile along the coast from Seaview. It stretches from Horestone Point in the north to Nodes Point in the south, the bay is surrounded by woodland known as Priory Woods owned by the National Trust. The bay faces east towards Selsey Bill and has a 950-yard (870 m) shoreline and can be accessed by walking round Horestone Point from Seagrove Bay.

St Helens is a village and civil parish located on the eastern side of the Isle of Wight. The village developed around village greens. This is claimed to be the largest in England but some say it is the second largest. The greens are often used for cricket matches during the summer and football in the winter, and also include a children's playground.The village is a short distance from the coast, about a ten-minute walk to St Helens Duver. The Duver was once the location of the island's first golf course (one of England's first golf courses), which for a while was almost as famous as the golf course at St Andrews. It is now a popular beach for tourists during the summer season and is protected by the National Trust. It is linked to other parts of the island by Southern Vectis bus route 8 serving Ryde, Bembridge, Sandown and Newport including intermediate villages.

St. Helen's Church, St. Helens is a parish church in the Church of England located in St Helens on the Isle of Wight.

Seaview Chain Pier was built in 1881 at Seaview, near Ryde on the Isle of Wight. The pier was designed by Frank Caws. Construction was from September 1879. The pier was opened in 1881 with finishing work completed in 1882. It was 1,000 foot (300 m) long and had a width of 15 foot (4.6 m). In 1889 the pier was extended to a length of 1,050 foot (320 m) as the result of work to better the landing stage. Traffic was disappointing and in 1901 the pier head was extended at a cost of £505 and amusements were added. Nevertheless 1900 was the last year in which the pier company managed to pay a dividend. In an attempt to improve matters the Seaview steam packet company was formed and began running a service between Seaview Chain Pier and South Parade Pier.The pier was closed from 1915 during World War 1, and in World War 2 it was commandeered by the Royal Navy. It was listed in 1948 but storms damaged it and it was demolished in 1952. It was one of only three chain piers in the British Isles.

St Helen's with its 232-foot-long (71 m) single platform was the only intermediate stop on the 2+3⁄4-mile (4.4 km) branch line that connected Brading to the coast at Bembridge.

The River Yar on the Isle of Wight, England, rises in a chalk coomb in St. Catherine's Down near Niton, close to the southern tip of the island. It flows across the Lower Cretaceous rocks of the eastern side of the island, through the gap in the central Upper Cretaceous chalk ridge of the Island at Yarbridge, then across the now drained Brading Haven to Bembridge Harbour in the northeast. For most of its course, the river passes through rural areas. At Alverstone, a small weir uses water from the river to power a water mill. The Yar is one of two rivers on the Isle of Wight with the same name. It is referred to as the Eastern Yar if it is necessary to distinguish between them with the other river being known as the Western Yar.

Seagrove Bay is a bay on the northeast coast of the Isle of Wight, England. It lies to the east of the village of Seaview facing towards Selsey Bill with a 2⁄3 mile (1.1 km) shoreline stretching from Nettlestone Point in the north to Horestone Point in the south. The bay has both the Seaside Award Flag and the Water Quality Award.Roughly at the centre is a public slipway, to the north of the slipway is a straight pebble beach and there are many shallow private mooring buoys out in the bay. At the southernmost end of the bay is a wooden walkway which gives access from the end of the seawall to Horestone Point and Priory Bay beyond even during the high tide. The bay previously had public toilets which were demolished in 2015 - with a new block set to be built. Though as of 2018 the construction is stalled due to a land-dispute and portaloos had to be installed at the beach for tourists.The bay is used in the title of the life peer Lord Oakeshott as Baron Oakeshott of Seagrove Bay, of Seagrove in the county of Isle of Wight.

Nettlestone and Seaview is a civil parish and electoral ward on the Isle of Wight. It contains the villages of Nettlestone and Seaview. Public Transport is provided by Southern Vectis bus route 8, which operates between Ryde, and Newport via Bembridge and Sandown.

Nettlestone is a village on the Isle of Wight, England about 4 miles (6 km) south east from Ryde. It is listed in the Domesday Book and was established c.1086. Together with Seaview, it forms the civil parish of Nettlestone and Seaview. The Priory Bay Hotel between Nettlestone & St Helens is said to be haunted by the ghost of a young lady who died there at the age of 14.Public Transport is provided by Southern Vectis bus route 8, which operates between Ryde and Newport via Seaview, Bembridge and Sandown including intermediate villages, once an hour from Ryde bus station.The local school is Nettlestone Primary which has taught local children since 1905. It moved to its current location in January 1906. The village is home to the Bucks School Camp Association on Eddington Road. Virginia Bottomley was elevated to the peerage as Baroness Bottomley of Nettlestone when she retired from the House of Commons in 2005.

Bembridge was the terminus of the 2+3⁄4-mile (4+1⁄2 km) branch line that connected it to the main line at Brading. On holiday Saturdays the sector table revolved continuously because the station area was too small to contain points.
