East Dorset is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Dorset, Bennington County, Vermont, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. It is in northern Bennington County, in the eastern part of the town of Dorset, in a valley between Mount Aeolus of the Taconic Mountains to the west and the Green Mountains to the east. The Batten Kill rises at East Dorset and flows south and west to the Hudson River in New York. U.S. Route 7 passes through East Dorset, leading north 26 miles (42 km) to Rutland and south 28 miles (45 km) to Bennington.

Mount Aeolus is a mountain summit in Dorset, Bennington County, Vermont, United States. Mount Aeolus is one of the Taconic Mountains. It lies 1.5 miles (2.4 km) west of the community of East Dorset.

Emerald Lake State Park is a 430-acre (170 ha) state park in the town of Dorset, Vermont, United States, 3 miles (5 km) north of the village of East Dorset, the park's mailing address. It is the home of 20-acre (8.1 ha) Emerald Lake, called such because of its emerald color. Activities includes swimming, non-motorized boating, camping, fishing, hiking, picnicking, bicycling, wildlife watching, and winter sports.Facilities include 67 campsites and 37 lean-tos, flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station. There is a small beach with a snack bar and boat rental facilities, a picnic pavilion with two group grills and a smaller grill, other picnic tables, and a horseshoe pit. There is a nature center, and park rangers offer interpretive programs including night hikes, campfire programs, amphibian explorations, and nature crafts and games. The state has designated 4 acres (1.6 ha) as the Emerald Lake Natural Area, on a steep bank at the south end of the park. The old-growth forest here features hemlock, sugar maples and other hardwood species, and there are several trees of noteworthy age and size.

Bromley Brook School was a therapeutic boarding school in Manchester Center, Vermont, for teenage girls who were not functioning at traditional schools. The school was owned and operated by the Aspen Education Group. Bromley Brook was mentioned in The New York Times. In March 2011, Aspen announced that the school would close at the end of the 2010–2011 academic year.

Dorset is a town in Bennington County, Vermont, United States. The population was 2,133 at the 2020 census. Dorset is famous for being the location of Cephas Kent's Inn, where four meetings of the Convention that signed the Dorset Accords led to the independent Vermont Republic and future statehood. Dorset is the site of America's oldest marble quarry and is the birthplace of Bill W., co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous. East Dorset is the site of the Wilson House and the Griffith Library. The town is named after the English county of Dorset. The East Dorset marble quarry had been established by Bill W.'s great grandfather and stayed in the family for three generations. Marble from these quarries provided stone for the New York Public Library Main Branch building in New York City. The quarry closed and during the summer months serves as a popular swimming hole.The Dorset town center is defined as the Dorset census-designated place and had a population of 249 at the 2010 census.

Dorset Mountain, on the border of Rutland and Bennington counties in Vermont, is part of the Taconic Range. The summit of Dorset Mountain is in Danby. An unmaintained hiking trail ascends from the southwest. Dorset Mountain was the site of an unsuccessfully proposed alpine ski resort project in the 1960s. Dorset Mountain is flanked to the south by Netop Mountain, Dorset Hill, and Mount Aeolus; to the west by The Scallop; to the northwest by Woodlawn Mountain; and to the southwest by Spruce Peak and The Gallop, subordinate peaks on the combined northern ridge of Bear Mountain and Mother Myrick Mountain. All of these mountains are of the Taconic Range. To the east, Dorset Mountain is flanked by Peru Peak and Styles Peak of the Green Mountains. The east face of Dorset Mtn. drains into the upper part of Otter Creek, thence into Lake Champlain, and ultimately into the Gulf of Saint Lawrence in Canada. The northern slopes of Dorset Mtn. drain into Mill Brook, thence into Otter Creek. The southwestern slopes drain into the Mettawee River, and thence into the south bay of Lake Champlain. The southeastern extension of Dorset's massif drains into Batten Kill, thence into the Hudson River, and into New York Harbor.

Ye Olde Tavern is a restaurant in Manchester Center, Vermont, US, that is listed on the Vermont Register of Historic Places. It was built by Aaron Sheldon from Dorset, Vermont, in 1790, making it the oldest inn in the state of Vermont. It was also one of the first buildings in Manchester to house telephone lines, and was once "the headquarters for the movement to license the sale of 'spirituous beverages'." It began as a tavern in 1790 called The Stagecoach Inn, before becoming Lockwood's Hotel circa 1850. In 1860, the building was renamed Thayer's Hotel by the new owner, Steven Thayer. It became the Fairview Hotel in 1902 and, in 1934, it was a hotel and antique shop run by the new owner Walter Clemons. In 1975, it was renamed Ye Olde Tavern by Peter and Susan Palmer, who renovated the place in time for the 1976 United States Bicentennial. Mark and Diedre Radicioni became the proprietors of Ye Olde Tavern around 1993. They took it over after losing their Grabbers Restaurant in Manchester to a fire. During their time as proprietors, Ye Olde Tavern was named the 1996 Restaurant of the Year by the National Restaurant Academy in the "Most Outstanding Value" category.Michael and Minna Brandt have been the proprietors of Ye Olde Tavern since November 2001. The restaurant has a colonial setting and Michael Brandt commented, "When people step into the Ye Olde Tavern, it's like stepping back in time. The experience whisks you away to a bygone era." The tavern currently has seven dining rooms, two of which are upstairs, with ninety seats and a full bar. In 2012, Ye Olde Tavern was recognized as a "Green Restaurant" by the State of Vermont. The Tavern's slogan is "Wining & Dining since 1790".

The Manley-Lefevre House is a historic house at 1161 Dorset West Road in Dorset, Vermont. Built out of marble about 1820 and sympathetically enlarged 1908–1927, it is the centerpiece of a 100-acre (40 ha) farm estate that is now home to the Marble House Project, an arts organization offering residencies. The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Manchester Center is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Manchester in Bennington County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 2,120, out of 4,391 people in the entire town of Manchester.

The Wait Block is a historic commercial building on Main Street (Vermont Route 7A) in Manchester Center, Vermont. Built in 1884–85, it is a distinctive late example of vernacular Italianate design, executed in brick and marble. It notably survived the 1893 fire that devastated the village's business district. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Johnny Seesaw's is a historic country lodge on Vermont Route 11, near the Bromley Mountain Ski Area in Peru, Vermont. Established in 1924, the lodge was an influential component of the early success of downhill skiing in southwestern Vermont, and is the place where events leading to the founding of both the National Ski Patrol and the United States Army's 10th Mountain Division took place. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008, and was delisted in 2023. It is a full-service facility, offering accommodations, meals, and activities in all seasons.

The Amos Lawrence House is a historic house on Richville Road in Manchester, Vermont, USA. Built about 1840, it is a fine local example of a Greek Revival farmhouse. Restored in the 1980s after many years as a rental property, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
