Townsend Harbor is a village in Townsend, Massachusetts, containing Harbor Pond dammed from the Squannacook River. At this location Jonas Spaulding and his brother Waldo started a mill in 1873 that made leatherboard (composed of leather scraps and wood pulp). They did business as Spaulding Brothers. Their family business expanded to locations in New Hampshire and western New York.Jonas Spaulding expanded further into leatherboard manufacturing, founding a second mill at Milton, New Hampshire, around 1893. This allowed Jonas to bring his three grown sons: Leon C., Huntley N., and Rolland H. Spaulding, into the business in a second company organized as J. Spaulding and Sons. The senior Spaulding started construction of a third leatherboard mill at North Rochester, New Hampshire. It began production in 1900 shortly after his death. The three Spaulding sons were successful and acquired the Spaulding Brothers mill in Townsend Harbor in 1902, making it part of J. Spaulding and Sons. They later moved their corporate offices to Rochester, New Hampshire. The three brothers continued to expand the business, building a vulcanized fibre mill in Tonawanda, New York in 1911, and a fourth leatherboard mill at a second location in Milton in 1913. They continued the company as J. Spaulding and Sons until about 1924, when they changed its name to the Spaulding Fibre Company to reflect its product. The corporate offices were moved to Tonawanda, New York, as that plant became the biggest operation. It reached its peak of production and employment in the 1960s, after having added product lines in Spauldite (a competitor for Bakelite) and a fiberglass tube. Operation of the leatherboard mill at Townsend Harbor ceased in 1957, after the last two surviving siblings, Huntley Spaulding and his married sister Marion S. Potter, died. The two siblings had previously created a charitable trust that took over the Spaulding Fibre Company after their deaths and sold off all assets within 15 years.

North Middlesex Regional High School is a public high school located in Townsend, Massachusetts, United States, in Middlesex County. It serves grades 9–12 primarily from Townsend, Pepperell, and Ashby. North Middlesex Regional High School has approximately 800 students. According to the official North Middlesex Regional School District website, North Middlesex is a comprehensive school accredited by the New England Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. The professional staff includes approximately seventy-five full-time teachers, a library/media coordinator, an academic support center coordinator, four guidance counselors, three school nurses, a school psychologist, approximately fifteen teaching assistants, two assistant principals, one principal, and a resource officer.

Pearl Hill State Park is a 1,000-acre (400 ha) Massachusetts state park located in the town of Townsend about 50 miles (80 km) from Boston. The park lies adjacent to Willard Brook State Forest and is managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).

Lunenburg High School is the high school of the town of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, United States in north-eastern Worcester County. The school educates students from Lunenburg. In 2016, a new Middle/High School building was completed.

Potanipo Hill is a 613-foot-high (187 m) peak located in the town of Brookline in southern New Hampshire, United States. The hill became home to one of the first lift-served ski areas in New England when Brookline Ski Area opened on its eastern face. The area later grew to become a larger regional operation known as Big Bear and later Musket Mountain. The ski area closed in 1984.Paul Andres purchased a large tract of land on the mountain, including most of the former ski area, and began developing a large art facility. Now open to the public, Andres Institute of Art features dozens of works designed by artists from around the world.

Andres Institute of Art is a public sculpture park in Brookline, New Hampshire, United States, founded in 1996 by local benefactor Paul Andres and sculptor John Weidman. It is the largest sculpture park by area in New England,, with a collection of more than 80 metal and stone sculptures are distributed over 140 acres (57 ha) on Potanipo Hill, the site of a former ski area. The sculptures are situated in a variety of garden and forested situations, spread over eleven hiking trails on the hillside. The trails range from easy to difficult, and the views along them change drastically with the changing of the seasons. Most of the sculptures are abstract and cryptic pieces, with each year's accessions coming from both new artists and familiar ones. The trails lead visitors by works such as Contempo Rustic, a couch fashioned from slabs of rock and metal, or Mbari House, a house-shaped granite-and-metal totem to peace and friendship.Since 1998, the institute has sponsored an annual Bridges and Connections International Sculpture Symposium. Artists are invited to visit Brookline for two weeks to create sculptures for permanent display at the institute. Sculptors from Lithuania, Latvia, England, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Egypt, Greece, Chile, and many states of the U.S. have attended the event. As the artists work, the public is invited to observe and interact with them, and to join guided tours of the collection.

Lunenburg is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Lunenburg in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 1,760 at the 2010 census.

The Lunenburg Historic District is a historic district encompassing the historic center of Lunenburg, Massachusetts. The district is centered on a stretch of Main Street which connects two triangular intersections. It includes many of the town's oldest buildings, including the c. 1724 Cushing House, and the c. 1730 Stillman Stone House. Three of the town's most significant institutional buildings were built before 1850: the town hall (a former Unitarian church), the Congregational church, and the Methodist church. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
