Perrygrove railway station

Perrygrove Railway is a minimum-gauge railway of 15 in (381 mm) gauge. It is located at Perrygrove Farm in the Forest of Dean, near Coleford, Gloucestershire, England. Trains travel at frequent intervals on a round trip of 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) between four stations. Passengers can ride on the train to use activities including a Treetop Adventure, a covered picnic and play area at Foxy Hollow, an Indoor Village with secret passages, and a den-building area in the woods. The railway was inspired by the minimum gauge estate railways or British narrow gauge railways developed by Sir Arthur Heywood at the end of the 19th century, including his pioneering Duffield Bank Railway and the later Eaton Hall Railway. Until mid 2014, based at Perrygrove were the Heywood Collection and associated replica vehicles built by James Waterfield, including the locomotive "Ursula" and the Duffield Bank Dining Carriage. These are now in private storage offsite.

Oakiron railway station is the terminus of the 15 in (381 mm) gauge Perrygrove Railway. The line was opened in 1996 and is now open as a heritage railway, passenger trains run round the train via the loop to couple on with the train back down to Perrygrove Station. The station consists of a small waiting shelter, a low platform, a loop and sidings. There are two footpaths from the station into the woods around the line. The line to Oakiron Quarry was near the site of today's sidings, the quarry line closed long before the railway.

Puzzlewood (grid reference SO578092) is an ancient woodland site and tourist attraction, near Coleford in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, England. The site, covering 14 acres (5.7 ha), shows evidence of open-cast iron ore mining dating from the Roman period, and possibly earlier. Over a mile of pathways were laid down in the early 19th century to provide access to the woods, and provide picturesque walks. The area contains strange rock formations, secret caves and ancient trees, with a confusing maze of paths. The site is listed as a regionally important geological site in the 'Forest of Dean Local Plan Review'.

Old Bow And Old Ham Mines (grid reference SO579088) is a 40.3-hectare (100-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Gloucestershire, notified in 1998.

It comprised the extra-parochial area of the Forest of Dean, and the ancient parishes of Abenhall English Bicknor St Briavels Littledean Flaxley Hewelsfield Mitcheldean Newland Ruardean Staunton Lea (part)The hundred was created at some time between 1086 and 1220 to provide a structure for the administration of the Forest of Dean. The meeting place was St Briavels Castle.

Milkwall railway station is a disused station on the former Severn and Wye Railway. It served the village of Milkwall, Gloucestershire, England. The station opened in 1875 and was closed only in 1929 due to lack of passenger use. The line remained in use for goods traffic until the line was closed from Parkend to Coleford. Today the site of the station is now occupied by an engineering company and the trackbed is now a cycle track from Coleford to Parkend.

The station was the northern terminus of the former Severn and Wye Railway. The station opened in 1879 and was closed in 1924 to passengers due to lack of passenger use. The line remained in use for goods traffic until the line was closed from Whitecliff Quarry to Coleford in 1967. Traces of the station have vanished under a car park but the trackbed is now a cycle track from Coleford to Parkend. The former Great Western Railway station has also vanished under a car park but the former goods shed now hosts a railway museum dedicated to the former railway lines around Coleford and the wider Forest of Dean.

Coleford Great Western Railway Museum is a railway museum located in Coleford, Gloucestershire, England. The museum was founded in 1988. Based in the former GWR Goods Shed along the Coleford Railway. There was also another station situated at Coleford, it was opened by the Severn and Wye Railway. The Museum traces the history of all the railways in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire from the early 19th century when the first plateways were laid, to the 1970s when the Dean Forest Railway was founded. The Museum has information about the Wye Valley Railway, Severn & Wye Railway and Monmouth Troy railway station. It consists of the former goods shed, a GWR signal box, a miniature railway, and a short stretch of track on which a Peckett 0-4-0ST locomotive, no. 1893, stands with ex-GWR rolling stock.
