English School Attached to Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

The Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (Chinese: 广东外语外贸大学; lit. 'Guangdong Foreign Languages and Foreign Trade University') is a provincial public university in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. It is affiliated with the Province of Guangdong.

Xiao-gang station (simplified Chinese: 萧岗站; traditional Chinese: 蕭崗站; Jyutping: siu1 gong1 zaam6; Cantonese Yale: Sīugōng Jaahm), known as Jiangxia station during planning, is a metro station on Line 2 of the Guangzhou Metro. It is located underground to the south of Huangshi Road East (黄石东路), the east of Yuncheng Road West (云城西路) and the south of Xiaogang River (萧岗涌), in the Baiyun District of Guangzhou. It started operation on 25 September 2010. Xiao-gang station is within walking distance of the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies north campus, as well as the west gate of Baiyun Mountain. The English station name is hyphenated to avoid confusion with the similarly named Xiaogang station on Line 8, which, in Mandarin, shares the same pinyin spelling but has a different tonal pronunciation and different characters (萧岗/晓港; Xiāogǎng/Xiǎogǎng). In Cantonese however, the two stations do not share the same spelling when romanised (Sīugōng/Híugóng).

Jiangxia Station (Chinese: 江夏站; Jyutping: gong1 haa6 zaam6; Cantonese Yale: Gōnghah Jaahm), known as Chentiancun Station during planning, is a metro station on Line 2 of the Guangzhou Metro. It is located under the north of Jiangxia East Second Road (江夏东二路) and the west of Baiyun Shangcheng Garden (白云尚城花园), in the Baiyun District of Guangzhou. It started operation on 25 September 2010.

Baiyun Mountain, also known as White Cloud Mountain, is a mountain located a few miles to the north of Guangzhou, China. It has a height of 427 metres (1,401 ft).

Baiyun New Town (Chinese: 白云新城) is a new central business district (CBD) in Baiyun District, Guangzhou, China, located around the former Baiyun Airport. The CBD will be divided into six new communities: Huangshi (Chinese: 黄石), Xiaogang (Chinese: 萧岗), Jichang (Airport) (Chinese: 机场), Yunshan (Chinese: 云山), Chuangyi (Chinese: 创意) and Keziling (Chinese: 柯子岭). Xiaogang Village in the CBD will be redeveloped. New parks will be built around Baiyun Mountain, including Feixiang Park to the south and Community Park to the west. New buildings will be constructed, including an exhibition centre, the Guangdong Painting Academy, the Guangzhou Museum and the Guangdong Performance Centre.

Baiyun Culture Square Station (simplified Chinese: 白云文化广场站; traditional Chinese: 白雲文化廣場站; Jyutping: baak6 wan4 man4 faa3 gwong2 coeng4 zaam6; Cantonese Yale: Baahk'wàhn Màhnfa Gwóngchèuhng Jaahm), formerly called Xinshi Station and later Convention Centre Station during planning, is a metro station on Line 2 of the Guangzhou Metro. It is located underground at the west end of Baiyun International Convention Centre, the east of Yuncheng Road West and the south of Qifu Road, in the Baiyun District in Guangzhou. It started operation on 25 September 2010.

Huangbian Station (simplified Chinese: 黄边站; traditional Chinese: 黃邊站; Jyutping: wong4 bin1 zaam6; Cantonese Yale: Wòhngbīn Jaahm), called Shanglinzhen Station during planning, is a metro station on Line 2 of the Guangzhou Metro. It is located at the underground of the south of Huangbian North Road in the Baiyun District of Guangzhou. The station started operation on 25 September, 2010.

The Guangzhou Gymnasium (Chinese: 广州体育馆; pinyin: Guǎngzhōu Tǐyùguǎn) is an indoor arena in Guangzhou. The arena is used as a concert venue and for sporting events such as arena football, basketball, badminton and table tennis. It was constructed between 11 February 1999 and opened on 30 June 2001, with a seating capacity of 10,000. It was designed by Paul Andreu.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (IATA: CAN, ICAO: ZGGG), formerly known as Canton Civil Airport or Pai Yuen Airport was the main airport in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China until 5 August 2004, when it was replaced by a new airport of the same title, 23 kilometres (14 mi) to the north.

On 2 October 1990, a hijacked Boeing 737, operating Xiamen Airlines Flight 8301, collided with two other aircraft on the runways of the old Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport while attempting to land. The hijacked aircraft struck parked China Southwest Airlines Flight 4305 first, inflicting only minor damage, but then collided with China Southern Airlines Flight 3523, a Boeing 757 waiting to take off, flipping onto its back. A total of 128 people were killed, including seven of nine crew members and 75 of 93 passengers on Flight 8301 and 46 of 110 passengers on Flight 3523.

Baiyun Park Station (simplified Chinese: 白云公园站; traditional Chinese: 白雲公園站; Jyutping: baak6 wan4 gung1 jyun2 zaam6; Cantonese Yale: Baahk'wàhn Gūng'yún Jaahm), formerly called Baiyun New Town Station during planning, is a metro station of Guangzhou Metro Line 2. It is located at the underground of Qile Road at the centre area of the former Baiyun International Airport, in the Baiyun District of Guangzhou. It started its operation on 25 September 2010.

CAAC Flight 2311 or China Northwest Airlines Flight 2311 was a scheduled passenger flight from Changsha Datuopu Airport, in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, China, to the former Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. On 24 December 1982 it was flown by an Ilyushin Il-18B (registered in China as B-202). After landing at Baiyun Airport, a fire in the cabin produced toxic smoke whereupon the crew stopped the aircraft on the runway and evacuated the passengers. The fast-developing fire killed 25 passengers and seriously injured 22 passengers and 4 crew members. The fire, which was started by a passenger's cigarette, destroyed the aircraft.
